View 0 Replies View Relatedcan no longer change my windows 7 theme. It's in aero mode, but when i right click, and open personalization, it's in classic view mode. I try clicking "Window Color and Appearance" except it only gives me an error "there was a problem loading pre-set color." Also when i click "them" nothing happens, no sign of loading. I'm fine with the default windows 7 aero theme, except i'd love to install windowblinds 7 again (this will be my first time installing windowblinds 7 on this new installation of windows 7, so it's not a pre-installation of windowblinds 7 that causes my personalization options to go away.ps: i think this problem began when i installed deskscapes and dreamscene (2 programs that allow your background to be a video) I have uninstalled both of them.

View 1 Replies View RelatedEach time I decide to change the theme on my Dell Inspiron laptop Windows 7 automatically turns sounds back on and changes the screen saver. It's so annoying and unnecessary. How can I prevent it from doing this when all I want to do is vary the themes? Or do I have to go through the same routine each time - that of switching off the sounds and restoring my screensaver?

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy computer was fine last night then this morning I turn it on and the theme setting is locked in the classic view and all my aero settings are greyed out and I can't change anything. I have Windows 7 Home Premium I have Kaspersky internet security anti virus and I don't download illegal music I only download iTunes and better have not gotten a virus from something I paid for. I first checked my security and I'm up todate on it and doesn't show anything. It is an HP with the finger print scanner with ATI Mobility Radeon Premium Graphics and says it supports Microsoft DirectX11.

View 2 Replies View RelatedFor the past few days, if not a week now, I've noticed that when I switch to Basic theme for RAM intesive programs like Adobe After Effects, Windows is quite slow, almost running as though my laptop is 1GB not 2GB RAM.Though when I switch to Aero theme, Windows is only slightly slower with Adobe After Effects running. My laptop is Compaq Presario CQ56, 2GB shared graphics and I can't explain why the Basic theme is running slow whereas Aero is responding faster, so much so, programs tend to stop responding more frequently on Basic. I have run MSE, MBAM and SAS (MSE realtime, others are standalone mode) and found no viruses and I update them all either daily or every two days. I only have Realtek Audio and MSE on Startup so I can't figure out why this happening!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was surfing net and listening to music , then the aero theme switches to basic theme out of nowhere. I tried to go to personalize and set it back , but could not.
View 9 Replies View Relatedinkj which is I/pictures/backgrounds/but i HAVE to select one image instead of just being able to select a folder. After that, i cannot click ''OK'', it will not work, respond or anything...neither will cancel, I HAVE to hit the X which kills al my actions...also it will jump straight back to my last used theme if i click OK....so it wont ''OK'' but it does jump back to my last saved theme...very wierd...I have this with any theme downlaoded or not makes no difference, also weird is that the screen shows tearing or something when i scroll up and down!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had this OLD password that I had set. During this time I had that password I did use windows' system image utility to backup my old 500GB drive to restore it on a 1TB drive and I did that while I had this password. Now, when I try to change the password it will not save the change. When I change it, I can logout and it will accept the NEW password, but once I reboot or shut down and it comes back up, it only accepts the OLD password.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I open a windows office file from the internet (Word or Powerpoint) and I then I go to save it via "save as", it automatically opens the temp file as the save destination, not the folder I most recently had open, or the folder where I've saved the previous 20 files I've downloaded.
Is there a way to direct the default save file to open not as temp but as what I want it to?
About 2 days ago I noticed that all of a sudden my scroll and progress bars, and all of the prompt windows (save, open file, etc.) changed to a Windows 98 style! I didn't think anything of it until I tried to save an image through Firefox and it wouldn't bring up the prompt to choose a location. Initially I thought it to be exclusive to Firefox, but later I had worked on an Word document and when I tried to Save As... the exact same thing, a flash indicating that it tried to open the location window and that's it. Every program does the exact same thing, no way to bring up a location menu or change directory.

View 5 Replies View RelatedThere was a popup as I was playing BF3 and it said that due to the power I was taking Windows would automatically change the color to save power or something stupid. Now it is permanently the settings from when it occurred and didn't revert like normal. It looks like this now: The background changes though, and all the Aero effects work but the only thing that doesn't change is the color of the taskbar and Windows border

of my choosing. In my case, a external USB drive.
I'm at a total loss on how to get this damn annoying application to save
programs (live TV) to a folder and drive of my choosing.
I look in setup and see no settings for such.
Frankly, I find the Media Center horrible implementation for what I want to do.
Edit. Doh. I managed to stumble around in the settings menu morass and
found the section I needed for changing to another drive.
I still hate MCE. I want my Beyond TV back.
Now to record Red Eye so I wont have to stay up till 3am.
I am trying to create a template with specific styling to be used by our group. Any document created with this template should be saved to a shared network folder. I'd like to know if this is possible...When I right click on my template and choose NEW, the resulting document should use...- the default text font face, size and colour that I specified.- the default paragraph spacing and indentation rules that I specified.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI changed via the dialog the TEXT SIZE via the screen resolution in the control panel to CUSTOM SIZE.With one of the newer "Cinema" or Very Wide screen (1680 X 900) displays after I'd increased the text size to over 160 % I didn't get the possibility to SAVE any documents any more via the SAVE AS button. The SAVE dialog would appear but the SAVE button was missing. The effect was noticed in Office 2007 (all programs) Notepad etc etc.Seems to be a Windows fault as this should not be allowed to happen.on more traditional "Squarer" type monitors -- no problem.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to set the default save location folder for downloads in IE8 to the last folder that the same file type was saved in? It makes no sense to default to a single folder and have to browse through to the desired folder for every single download, so I assume there has to be an option somewhere.

There is alot of stuff in here. I'd be interested in seeing if custom styles would work and how much we can edit without breaking it.
I don't care about the taskbar style, all i want is my desktop to look like that when i minimize everything, the clock and all!,I found the picture in an old thread on a forum and the user doesnt go there anymore.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am looking for any Windows 7 Theme that includes changing the looks of any window that exemplifies the architectural look of a Mac: sharp edges, and boxy buttons, and colored scroll bars. It doesn't have to be necessarily the Mac theme, but anything around that look is acceptable.
I am fine with tweaking the explorer.exe, and some system32 files.
Any suggestions, comments and questions are always welcome.
P.S. I just got tired of the round look of any window.
I had this theme working once. Somewhere along the line, Windows decided to activate aero again. I finally turned it off, but now it is using a default theme even though it says I am using the custom theme. Help/Troubleshooting is useless since it only helps you turn aero on.I tried downloading and installing a theme pack. It didnt work.
