I need to protect a template that contains parts, that should be edited eventhough there is protection activated. These fields should have a special formatting (font and size) which is missing after protecting the document. How to fix this? Only possible with a macro? Tried to do it but couldn't make it work. Please help as soon as possible. This is urgent. Don't get why this must be so complicated after it has been so nice before Office 2010.
In Word 2010, when I restrict formatting and allow editing only in certain areas of a document, it appears that while a user is in an allowed area they also have access to change paragraph spacing under "change styles. While there, they can go to "custom paragraph spacing" and reformat the entire document, changing the default formatting. This makes no sense to me. Shouldnt the option to "change paragraph spacing" be restricted as well? Or am I missing something?
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate on VM Fusion (Mac User) with Office 2010 installed. When I record audio on OneNote and then play it back, the playback speed is faster than normal, probably twice as fast. I have tried playing other audio files in Windows and it works just fine.
Can you make onenote ribbon always appear on opening? instead of having to ask to see it with the little down arrow. I have office 2010 pro plus windows 7 pro. It really annoys me having to click the arrow all the time.
Tools > Options > "Place OneNote icon in notification area of taskbar" is set.The shortcut in Startup for both "ONENOTE.EXE" and "OneNote 2007 Screen Clipper and Launcher" both have the Run: Minimized state on them.Everytime I start my PC, ON opens and isn't minimized to the system tray. It opens the program totally; any idea why? It's quite annoying.
I just recently fixed my laptop a while back ago, and now I am having problems again.I was drawing on my laptop and I received an update for Flash Player. Well, I started to update and as soon as I clicked start, I went back to drawing.30 seconds later, with no warning whatsoever, My computer was closing all my programs, and restarted itself with out a prompt. However, when it did reboot, I got a message saying Invalid Partition Table. So, i was like wtf, like any person. I tried rebooting and going into safe mode. It wouldn't let me. AT ALL. The f8 function does not work. actually the only functions that do work is f2 for setup and f12 for boot options
I am running a small network at my house, and I have a Win2003 server that seems to have problems. It doesn't boot anymore. One suggestion was to take the hard disk, connect it to another computer and work on it. Ok, so I did that. Took the HD from the 2003 machine, got a connection kit for USB and connected it to my Win7/64 notbook. Of course, that blew up my notebook-When I connected the HD, the laptop froze. Obviously, I had not choice but to remove the external hard drive and reboot. The reboot now ends up in a single line: Invalid Partition Table.I have tried the system Recovery Options on the DVD, but the automatic options don't work. So I need to find another way to restore the partition table.
Im having some problems putting windows 7 on my iMac. At first, it worked fine. But i lost the reinstall disk so i made an image backup on my external hard drive. Before, i was triple booting Ubuntu, OS X, and Windows 7. I had a huge problem in windows so i restored from a backup. But now, my bootloader rEFIt keeps trying to change my mbr. whenever i try to, it makes windows unbootable. I have the MBR contents, and i noticed that it says theres 2 NTFS partitions. and when i try to install ubuntu, it wants to format the NTFS Partition and delete windows. Is there a way to fix it so i can have all three booting?
Basically while I was running Windows 7 I wanted to clone my 149GB Hard Drive to a 500GB partition on my 1TB HardDrive, with Ubuntu taking up the other 500GB.
I coulnd'nt clone using Windows tools because I always had an error of some sort. I then tried cloning using various Ubuntu tools on the Live CD - these didnt work either. I then tried dd if= of= command and it copied about 50% before an I/O error.
After the dd failed I tried booting Windows 7. The boot manager gave me 2 options. Win 7 ultimate and win 7 ultimate (recovered) win 7 ultimate never booted, because it was the new-er, half-cloned HD. The other windows loaded but was bugged, had to manually run explorer etc.
I've been trying to create a Task in Outlook from a Word Document that I have created on this computer. The idea is that a shortcut to the document is created as an Outlook Task. Click on the shortcut, and voila - there is the document. The "Create Microsoft Office Task" icon DOES send the document to Outlook as a Shortcut in a Task, however, when I open the task, Outlook says:"Outlook blocked access to the following potentially unsafe attachments: Shortcut to 'document name'."It's NOT an unsafe attachment; Outlook WILL OPEN this document if I send it as an email attachment. Outlook will open .docx files types.
I have a Dell E6410 running 32-bit Windows 7. When I boot the machine with an USB thumb drive attached I get an Invalid Partition Table error. I hold the power button down, remove the thumb drive and then power the machine up. It then boots with no problem.
l am having a problem with installing due to a disk partition problem.. Im getting an error that says "The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems Windows can only be installed to GPT disks".I have no clue and reading other forums it sounded like specific computers were having this problem but I built mine.Had a Windows 7 Ultimate x64 I used from a friend with no Key, Microsoft doesn't like that so I purchased a Key from them for Premium, used a W7 x32 disk by accident and I have 12 GBs of Ram so pretty inefficient.. I downloaded a W7 x64 version and am now having this problem...; First I've down this now bc Microsoft said they would send me a disk in the mail when I bought the Key but that was about 3 weeks ago and I would like to use my computer to its capabilities.
Just got in some new Dell Latitude ST tablets at my work. We used WDS for our imaging process. Problem is these new Dell ST's do not have support PXE on the nic's.
How can I create a wim image of the tablet that I have built? I have a bootable USB key all built and I can switch out the wim, I'm just not sure how to capture a wim of the tablet without the WDS.
I purchased a 1 TB Seagate Hard Disc about four months ago.It has two Partitions One 50 GB with Windows 7 New and other a 950 GB with movies, music important documents etc.I also have two more Internal Hard discs with Windows 8 and another windows 7.For last one week or so had problems in booting into new Windows 7 got message that it should be repaired through Windows DVD.Did the needful and booted up.The next day same problem and my action the same. This happened about 7 times or so.Today same problem. My reaction the same. But while booting I got a message that the 950 GB partition cannot be accessed because MFT is corrupt.Browsed through Windows 7 Forums and as advised in one of the threads downloaded Testdisk.Ran the program but unfotunately the dreaded message that both MFT and Mirror MFT are corrupt.Have lot of badly needed Data and I really want to recover it.
I have always loved the FIND command when working with rosters of names on a table for scheduling. This command still works in Office 2010 but I can't shade EVERY table box for the name I've found. AS an exam0ple, if I have "Susie" scheduled for an activity 9 times on the same table in random cells, I can FIND her names on the table, but I used to be able to shade/color in her cells on the schedule.
I am having problems connecting my Win7 Sony Vaio to my existing network. I cannot get the Ip address to add it to the DHCP table using ipconfig /all. I can see my connection but not connect to it because of not being able to add it.
Is it possible to install Windows 7 on a GPT disk?
I created a RAID 0 array on my dual Xeon 5580 system and tried installing Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit RTM. When I got to the "Where do you want to install Windows" part I used shift-F10 to open up a command window, then I used diskpart to create a GPT with the following partitions:
Disk 0 Part 1 - 102 MB EFI System
Disk 0 Part 2 - 128 MB MSR
Disk 0 Part 3 - 500 MB Primary
Disk 0 Part 4 - 7446 GB Primary
But there was a message "Windows cannot be installed to Disk 0 Partition 3 (show details)" - clicking on "show details" gave me "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style."
What gives? I thought Windows Vista and beyond supported GPT.
The problem with MBR is that you can't have a file system larger than 2 TB.
A few weeks ago my computer turned off unexpectedly while I was using it. When I tried to start it up again, I got a black screen with a blinking cursor. I tried going into BIOS and changing the startup order to no avail. It's now back on default. I also ran the system diagnostic and it said nothing is wrong.I got a Windows 7 repair disk and attempted to use that. I ran the startup diagonosis and restarted-- again a black screen with a blinking cursor. I restored it to an earlier point and restarted-- black screen with blinking cursor. I then attempted to restore it to other points but got an error message (0x8000ffff) each time. Finally, I tried command prompt and did "bootsect /nt60 ALL" which did nothing. So I tried "bootsect /nt52 ALL" which did nothing. I did both of those again with "/force" (which I'm now guessing was a stupid move, but I was desperate to try anything) and now when I restart I get a black screen with "Invalid partition table". When I try to go to system restore now it tells me there are no restore points.
After I used "Acronis Disk Director" in a HirenBoot CD to cut some space from my D drive to my C drive (boot drive), I've got this "Windows is checking the D drive" then "Corrupted master file table. Checkdisk is aborted" on my D drive. After doing some homework, I've tried corrected it by using testdisk's Fix MFT function but "Both of the MFT files are corrupted. Can't fix". I did not back up the whole partition. I do not really want to buy $60 + commercial software that TestDisk recommends just to fix this possibly once-in-a-lifetime issue. However, if recovery softwares is the only option left, then I have to use them.
I have a CHM file stored on the OS harddrive.Whenever I try to click on the table of contents, it tries to download the htm file instead of opening it in the adjacent window. All my other chm files work normally. I'm not sure if a recent windows update did this.
My computer randomly decided to turn off and I figured it was updates, now when it restarts it goes to "device mapping table" I was running windows 7. Anyone know why it might do this and how to fix it?

How can I create a custom command line to be used when I double click on a file with a specific extension. For example for a .jar file I'd like to have this: javaw.exe -jar "%1" -myOpts
Can you have more than one custom command line for an extension and use the RightClick context menu to chose the one you want to use?
