Disabling Language Switch Hotkey "CTRL+Space"?
Feb 7, 2012The story: My university has their computers set up with multiple input languages, none of which I use. Moreover, NetBeans (which I use frequently) uses the CTRL+Space shortcut for code completion, so I'd like to be able to use it without switching my keyboard to Chinese.
I've made a script that will customize the computer I'm using (because so many settings they use are messed up), so I'm looking for a way to do this in the registry or the command line, rather than the control panel. To make things more interesting, these computers have Deep Freeze on them, so any changes made to them do not stick around after rebooting the machine.
Short version: Does anyone know of a way to disable the CTRL+Space hotkey (or muti-language input in general) via command line or the registry that does not require a reboot?
English Interface Lanaguage Instead Of Russian
Sep 30, 2010My netbook was shipped with a Russian (or Ukrainian) interface language in Windows 7. I would much like to switch it to English. I was looking for MUI files (I think), but could find for just about any language but English. On a forum I found a link to this tool [1] which was supposed to achieve just this, but failed.
Where should I look for language files that would allow me to have the Win 7 interface in English?

Nov 3, 2012Im setting up a computer for a family that is Russian and English speaking.I have installed the Russian keyboard under region and language settings. I can set either to default.The problem is, when I do shift+alt to switch to Russian, it always changes back to English when clicking on a new window. I assume that is by design as English is default.What I want is NO default. If someone switches it to Russian I want it to STAY in russian no matter what window they are in, and vise versa for English.

Aug 10, 2011Whenever I switch user accounts the computer will start the switch and then lock up with a display message that says no signal on the monitor. It happens if the computer has been running for hours or only a couple of minutes. I have to shut the PC off and leave it off for 20-30 minutes. I can then restart and enter any user account. But if I try to switch user or logoff and pick a different user the whole cycle begins anew.

Soon as I touch any browser icon the rest of computer stops responding as well. It's only me on computer. Have virgin media security/ spyware/ virus protection. Tried CCleaner. Mar 10, 2011I downloaded subtitles that are Russian (.srt), however when I open up the video file in Windows Media Player or VLC the subtitles are displaying as gibirish, like this: "������ ����� ��� ��������� ��������� ������� ����." When I open up the .srt file in notepad, the gibberish is still there:

Language Bar- Removed Language But Still Appear?
May 18, 2010I've removed one of the language keyboard input in the settings but seems like it still appears in my language bar in desktop and it doubts me because everytime I have to shift twice to get back my input language into "EN" after using other language input.

Now I know I can't change the system language (need windows ultimate for that) but I believe on Asus computers you can select English as the display language on the initial install (so each shop is telling me) and so i have read (which i don't really understand as why can you do this on ASus laptops only - surely windows is windows? ie you can or you can't!).
If this is true i was wondering just what will be changed into English (i.e. what exactly is the display language)? I gather the majority of menus etc will be in English, but what about if my laptop goes wrong and I have to start digging a bit deeper? Does anyone know if all the settings menus change so i'll be able toedit the registry if need be (just an example!).
Language Bar Is Gone
Jul 8, 2011I bought my computer half a year ago and ever since then there was a language bar that I could use. It worked just fine. Just recently, my computer had to recover data (pressing f12 repeatedly during startup) because of a "hard drive damage". When i finally had most of my data recovered, I found out my language bar was missing. I tried going to control panel>clock, language, and region>change keyboards or other input methods>change keyboards>languagebar. There, I made sure it wasn't on hidden and that I had picked a language. There use to be a "EN" icon on my taskbar where it let me change languages, but now it isn't there. Is there anything else i could do to make it appear/work again?

I just bought the 3 unit upgrade which contains both the 32 and the 64 bit discs. I have an AMD dual core that will process the 64 bit. I installed the 32 bit version. However, they would really prefer it if the OS language was in Japanese (eg when you press the Windows key instead of 'Computer' it's 'コンピュータ'). This is the setup - One direct lan connection from router to A, then another lan on A is connected to a switch. B is also connected to a switch.
