Forign Subtitles Not Displaying Properly (Russian Subtitles)?
Mar 10, 2011
I downloaded subtitles that are Russian (.srt), however when I open up the video file in Windows Media Player or VLC the subtitles are displaying as gibirish, like this: " ." When I open up the .srt file in notepad, the gibberish is still there:
I made sure that Russian language pack is chosen in the regional control panel. And the subtitles are encoded as UTF-8. Finally, I have tried 3 different subtitles that I could find and they're all the same, gibberish.
I have been fiddling around with codec packs and finally found 1 that is ideal for me (Codec Pack All in 1 1.6.3)Everything works perfectly except for mkv thumbnails which I found another way around it by installing Icaros 2.0 The only problem remaining is that .mp4 files are not able to display subtitles in WMP 12, they work perfectly well in VLC but for aesthetic reasons I prefer WMP.Is there anyway to make this work with some sort of registry tweak without having to install additional codec packs such as Shark 007 which even though it states to work without any mess, it ruins all my file types associations and subtitle display.SO to summarize I am looking for a registry hack that can force WMP 12 on Windows 7 x64 show subtitles?
I am using PowerDVD to watch movies. Is there a way to change subtittles in PowerDVD, because when i load subtittles in my language it gives me weird symbols?
I need baby baby steps and free programs to burn a few movies on dvd with english subtitles included from movies I downloaded from the net on windows 7 from someone who has done this and has patience because I have a problem with directions.
i want to know how when i share a movie on my homegroup i can also share subtitles for that movie since it does not have integrated in the movie itself.
I want to play the movie on my samsung TV which is connected on the group and i can play the movie but i cannot find the subtitles ( which i have on my pc and have the same name as the movies with .srt in the end )
Also. How can i play .mkv files ? i have The transformers 720p version but i cannot play it through the homegroup , but i have heard u can just by renaming , or something .
My question is how do I copy subtitles from a dvd to my computer but I only want the subtitles which come up when something is spoken in a language apart from English. Like what happens when you play a dvd normally.
There is a closed thread that describes my exact issue and what was discussed at [url]...
I was wondering if anyone knew of a resolution for this. It is for another computer and so i don't have immediate access to the specs but i can post them at a later time if it is deemed necessary. I just wanted to get the ball rolling at least for now
Some application icons and files that are use them to open aren't displaying their proper icon and are displaying a default windows icon.
This is happening in the taskbar, the desktop and the start menu. I've tried deleting the iconcache.db file which didn't work.I've attached some photos illustrating the problem.
I recently reinstalled Windows 7 and I copied my old appdata folder. I do not know if this is what is causing the issue, as it was causing invisible icons to be pinned to my start menu.Anyways, my current problem is, when I choose to display my desktop toolbar on the task bar, the toolbar displays my current desktop shortcuts, the sub folders you see when you view the window (ie, libraries, homegroup, network, computer, control panel, user folder, recycle bin) and icons that are not displayed elsewhere, such as a second control panel. What could be the problem and how would I stop the sub folders and second control panel from displaying?I have tried to remove the icons from the desktop folder, but they do not have an option to be removed. I have tried deleting them from the task bar toolbar itself, but it acts as if it deleted it, but they do not go away
Okay, I am at my wits end. I have tried to repair. I rebuilt the icon Cache, and used the registry fix that was available here on the forum and nothing is working. Here is a screen shot to show what is wrong:
All application files(.exe) are the same. I don't know what else to try.
The last few days when I've been viewing websites on any browser (IE, FF, Chrome, Opera), they haven't been loading or displaying properly. Sometimes they're fine but frequently, pages aren't loading entirely, displaying html code. Images are distorted, blurred or looks wrong. Sometimes refreshing the page loads everything and sometimes it doesn't help. Here are some examples.
I'm attempting to set up a Home Media System for my muli-handicapped son who's passion in life is movies. This approach should greatly simplify the end-to-end process for him. OK, now for the problem and where I can use your help. Here's my attempted set-upI'm ripping his DVD movies to MP4 using WinX-DVD Premium Ripper Storing the movies on an external 2TB harddrive connected to my DELL desktop running Windows7 Ultimate, 64-bit Using Windows Media Centre / Media Browser to stream & display the movies Running the movies thru a new Xbox-360 (using MC extender), connected to Xbox is connected to Sony Bravia XBR-55 via HDMI (HDMI 2) Here's the problem I'm encounteringI'm ripping all the DVD's using the exact same format Some of the movies are displaying "full screen" while some of them are only displayed on 2/3's of the screen - right in the middle. These are Full Screen vs. Widescreen movies. The movies I'm experiencing this problem with work fine ifI run them from the DVD player (i.e. Google TV - these are NOT Blu-ray DVDs) I stream them from the computer, via WMP straight to the Sony TV - this approach is supported, but with an antiquated interface..
My netbook was shipped with a Russian (or Ukrainian) interface language in Windows 7. I would much like to switch it to English. I was looking for MUI files (I think), but could find for just about any language but English. On a forum I found a link to this tool [1] which was supposed to achieve just this, but failed. Where should I look for language files that would allow me to have the Win 7 interface in English?
ive got several printers and computers, which give different results. Win Live Mail displays Russian and Chinese correctly, but when sent to printer, most of them garble the characters. i dont want to delve into each printer hardware, so am hoping this is a problem with Win 7 encoding somewhere ? ive seen options in Live Mail itself, but changing them there anywhere else in Win 7 itself that can be experimented with
Im setting up a computer for a family that is Russian and English speaking.I have installed the Russian keyboard under region and language settings. I can set either to default. The problem is, when I do shift+alt to switch to Russian, it always changes back to English when clicking on a new window. I assume that is by design as English is default. What I want is NO default. If someone switches it to Russian I want it to STAY in russian no matter what window they are in, and vise versa for English.
I have NVIDIA GTX 560,before I had ATI RADEON 3600 HD Series.
Problems started with ATI when I quited from game resolution changed so I needed to change it.
I found good resolution, but this happened few times and there is no good resolution. Everything looks to small or to big,to wide or to short (using different resolution does not help I try them all out with all possible modes (16:9,14:9) also changing cable does not helps)
After few weeks I got HDMI cabel.Resolution was good everything was OK as it should but now is another problem. Everything looks like it is in set on low quality and its blurry to.
I dont know what to do because I try all possible modes on HDMI to overscan off/on 16:9,14:9 changing settings in nvidia control panel... No way to get it work.
Also I have 21,6 inch LCD tv with default resolution 1360x768 I dont know does this helps but my TV is recognized as Generic non-PvP monitor.
nyway, yesterday the date in the system tray randomly stopped appearing. It still shows the time, just not the date. I didn't change any settings or anything like that, I just remember looking down and noticing it was gone. I've looked in the date's settings and it still knows the correct date, it just will not put it on the task bar.I've looked on google to find people having similar problems, but nobody with a solution. I've tried restarting the computer as well, to no avail.
Certain websites such as eBay, Facebook & Hotmail are not loading correctly. Once I hit log in the page just shows as text to the left hand side of the screen. I have cleared all history, cookies & cache, I have restarted my computer, I have tried accessing them under a different windows PC user name, upgraded Mozilla, tried internet explorer, upgraded Java and made sure it was enabled.
I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate, the whole kit and caboodle.I setup my personal computer the exact same as my fathers, but for some reason, despite installing all the same updates and blah blah, I can't get the Japanese Kanji to display ON the computer Chrome displays them just fine, but my music is all boxes, rather than Kanji..Yes, I installed the Japanese Display Language, but when I go to swap to it, even IT shows as boxes, rather than Kanji..The same problem extends to Korean, Chinese (both), Russian and a few other packs.
My display has suddenly decided to reduce it's size and doesn't any longer stretch to fill the monitor screen. There is a black border of about 1.5cm all round the desktop display. Using Windows 7 on a Dell All-inOne.
For some odd reason, about a month ago all gadgets in my win 7 ultimate stopped working correctly and now look like this when extended:Not even samples for the clock are displayed correctly anymore, instead I just get this red X-es.I've tried many things already, such as repairing windows for the dvd and so on but none have worked.
I know this computer can do it. I've done in Windows 7 and on Ubuntu before.
When I open screen resolution, the highest one displayed is 1600x1200. When I got to my adapter settings and click "List Modes" the highest one shown is 1920x1440, though when that one's clicked, my monitor says "mode not supported"..
I've tried using powerstrip. But when i get to the part where you install the driver, it won't let me install it. i click it over and over and over again, but nothing happens.. no error message or anything, it just won't go...
I've been trying to get this to work for hours. I have some embedded graphics intel chip thing.. i couldn't find an exact name anywhere..
