Ripped Movies Not Displaying Properly On Sony Bravia XBR-55

I'm attempting to set up a Home Media System for my muli-handicapped son who's passion in life is movies. This approach should greatly simplify the end-to-end process for him. OK, now for the problem and where I can use your help.Here's my attempted set-upI'm ripping his DVD movies to MP4 using WinX-DVD Premium Ripper Storing the movies on an external 2TB harddrive connected to my DELL desktop running Windows7 Ultimate, 64-bit Using Windows Media Centre / Media Browser to stream & display the movies Running the movies thru a new Xbox-360 (using MC extender), connected to Xbox is connected to Sony Bravia XBR-55 via HDMI (HDMI 2) Here's the problem I'm encounteringI'm ripping all the DVD's using the exact same format Some of the movies are displaying "full screen" while some of them are only displayed on 2/3's of the screen - right in the middle.These are Full Screen vs. Widescreen movies. The movies I'm experiencing this problem with work fine ifI run them from the DVD player (i.e. Google TV - these are NOT Blu-ray DVDs) I stream them from the computer, via WMP straight to the Sony TV - this approach is supported, but with an antiquated interface..

I'm trying to connect my IBM SL510 laptop to my SONY Bravia TV. I've seen online that an S cable is required. I thought I could use an HDMI cable. Also, I don't see an S cable port on my laptop.

The problem is that for some reason I cannot get a pixel perfect screen to the Sony Bravia Full HD LCD TV with the Radeon 4890. There are always black borders around the screen.
Have the Catalyst 9.11 Suite for Windows 7 (64 bit) installed.
With a Nvidia 8800gt there is no need for any kind of settings, the picture is pixel perfect HD 1080p straight away.
Any idea how to get the resolution / settings correct?

I was wondering if anyone knew of a resolution for this. It is for another computer and so i don't have immediate access to the specs but i can post them at a later time if it is deemed necessary. I just wanted to get the ball rolling at least for now

Some application icons and files that are use them to open aren't displaying their proper icon and are displaying a default windows icon.
This is happening in the taskbar, the desktop and the start menu. I've tried deleting the iconcache.db file which didn't work.

I recently reinstalled Windows 7 and I copied my old appdata folder. I do not know if this is what is causing the issue, as it was causing invisible icons to be pinned to my start menu.Anyways, my current problem is, when I choose to display my desktop toolbar on the task bar, the toolbar displays my current desktop shortcuts, the sub folders you see when you view the window (ie, libraries, homegroup, network, computer, control panel, user folder, recycle bin) and icons that are not displayed elsewhere, such as a second control panel.What could be the problem and how would I stop the sub folders and second control panel from displaying?I have tried to remove the icons from the desktop folder, but they do not have an option to be removed. I have tried deleting them from the task bar toolbar itself, but it acts as if it deleted it, but they do not go away

Okay, I am at my wits end. I have tried to repair. I rebuilt the icon Cache, and used the registry fix that was available here on the forum and nothing is working. Here is a screen shot to show what is wrong:
All application files(.exe) are the same. I don't know what else to try.

The last few days when I've been viewing websites on any browser (IE, FF, Chrome, Opera), they haven't been loading or displaying properly. Sometimes they're fine but frequently, pages aren't loading entirely, displaying html code. Images are distorted, blurred or looks wrong. Sometimes refreshing the page loads everything and sometimes it doesn't help. Here are some examples.

I downloaded subtitles that are Russian (.srt), however when I open up the video file in Windows Media Player or VLC the subtitles are displaying as gibirish, like this: "������ ����� ��� ��������� ��������� ������� ����." When I open up the .srt file in notepad, the gibberish is still there:
"1
00:00:26,054 --> 00:00:31,117
1925 ���.
������ ����� ����� ������ ����� ��� ��������� ��������� ������� ����."
I made sure that Russian language pack is chosen in the regional control panel. And the subtitles are encoded as UTF-8. Finally, I have tried 3 different subtitles that I could find and they're all the same, gibberish.

I updated to the latest Windows 7 service pack this morning, upon restarting I can log in however nothing loads up. My screen is black, I am able to move the cursor. When pressing CTRL + ALT + DELETE a error message comes up stating:
"Failure to display security and shut down options. The logon process was unable to display security and logon options when CTRL+ALT+DELETE was pressed. If the operating system does not respond, press ESC or restart the computer by using the power switch."
I am able to boot in to safe mode, I have attempted a system restore to the time before updating this morning. However this stays at initializing for at the moment around 3 hours. I have no idea now what to do, I purchased this laptop in November 2011 which came preloaded with Windows 7 Home Premium Edition 64 bit.

My family and I have accumulated a rather large library of DVD/BD movies that we like to watch repeatedly from time to time. In order to avoid searching for and handling the original disks each time, I have been ripping the content, preserving menus,chapters, and the audio and subtitle streams for our preferred language, along with the main video title.i chose to transcode the video using h.264 format, and AC3 audio, storing those and the subtitle stream in an MKV wrapper, because that format is reasonably well supported by the WDTV Live Plus player I have been using. However, I have found many shortcomings of that player to be frustrating to me. My frustration is caused mostly by these factors:
- Browsing screen by screen, with only textual titles when deciding what movie to watch next is not pleasing.
- If I want to jump into a particular movie chapter, again there is only text (minutes/seconds) to help me find the chapter I want, as opposed to artwork such as one would have when viewing the original disk using a DVD/BD player.
- Inability to pause, and advance frame by frame, as I would be able to if playing the original media.
- The WDTV Live Plus sometimes alters the appearance of the subtitles compared with the original media, and sometimes to the extent that they are unreadable.
Thinking that I might be able to improve on shortcomings like these, I embarked on a project to build my first HTPC, which I have now done. I am happy with the system from a hardware perspective. I installed Windows 7 Professional x64, and am poised to begin using Media Center for the first time. It is my hope that I can use the MKV files I have spent many hours creating, but if some other format proves more appropriate, I will start over, but using my new system, it will not take nearly so many hours the next time.I would eventually like to retire my two Tivo boxes, so I expect I will install a tuner card such as the Ceton InfiniTV4 that accommodates a multi-stream cable card, but one Tivo function we use occasionally (and would like to retain) is the ability to download Amazon video on demand for later viewing. Is this possible with Media Center, and could I stop viewing from the family room in the middle of a movie, and continue watching on the bedroom extender?

I ripped my personal CD collection to .WAV as I have the space and thought it was best quality. I used WMP.Everything ripped fine.for a while, the first song of each album kept 'losing' its track information. I would use the Find Album Info feature of WMP to fix this. Track info currently displays perfect in Windows Media Player Library or when browing using Windows Media Center.However, if I view the files in Windows Explorer, or use another program like Winamp to play the files (which i generally prefer), the first track of all my ripped CDs in WAV format has no track information, Unknown Album, title, etc... even tho' it displays fine in WMP Library.I cannot EDIT the track in Windows Explorer, and I can't find a track editor freeware that supports .WAV. Why? Do I need to re-rip everything in .MP3? This also ruins my ability to copy the files to my phone, as the first track is missing information on copy/conversion.

I have NVIDIA GTX 560,before I had ATI RADEON 3600 HD Series.
Problems started with ATI when I quited from game resolution changed so I needed to change it.
I found good resolution,but this happened few times and there is no good resolution. Everything looks to small or to big,to wide or to short (using different resolution does not help I try them all out with all possible modes (16:9,14:9) also changing cable does not helps)
After few weeks I got HDMI cabel.Resolution was good everything was OK as it should but now is another problem. Everything looks like it is in set on low quality and its blurry to.
I dont know what to do because I try all possible modes on HDMI to overscan off/on 16:9,14:9 changing settings in nvidia control panel... No way to get it work.
Also I have 21,6 inch LCD tv with default resolution 1360x768 I dont know does this helps but my TV is recognized as Generic non-PvP monitor.

nyway, yesterday the date in the system tray randomly stopped appearing. It still shows the time, just not the date. I didn't change any settings or anything like that, I just remember looking down and noticing it was gone. I've looked in the date's settings and it still knows the correct date, it just will not put it on the task bar.I've looked on google to find people having similar problems, but nobody with a solution. I've tried restarting the computer as well, to no avail.

Does anyone have transcode 360 working with mymovies in a 64-bit environment? I've read a couple guides, but I'm unable to get it to work.
I keep getting "Unable to communicate with Transcode 360" when trying to stream from mymovies. Transcoding works outside of mymovies.

I ordered and downloaded a movie that came in two parts. I could play each part on the computer. However, when I burned these parts to DVD I could not get to the second part to play.So, how can I join these two parts into one larger movie and then burn that to a DVD?I don't want to use the Windows 7 Movie Maker as it doesn't have the proper codecs to play the movie on a general DVD player.

I have got a external hard drive that I am using as a media storage device that has all my 1100 movies on. Certain websites such as eBay, Facebook & Hotmail are not loading correctly. Once I hit log in the page just shows as text to the left hand side of the screen. I have cleared all history, cookies & cache, I have restarted my computer, I have tried accessing them under a different windows PC user name, upgraded Mozilla, tried internet explorer, upgraded Java and made sure it was enabled.

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate, the whole kit and caboodle.I setup my personal computer the exact same as my fathers, but for some reason, despite installing all the same updates and blah blah, I can't get the Japanese Kanji to display ON the computer Chrome displays them just fine, but my music is all boxes, rather than Kanji..Yes, I installed the Japanese Display Language, but when I go to swap to it, even IT shows as boxes, rather than Kanji..The same problem extends to Korean, Chinese (both), Russian and a few other packs.
