Suddenly Requesting Windows 7 Logon Password (Expires In 14 Days)...How To Disable

Jul 4, 2011

his morning when I booted my computer, I was asked to change my password because it will expire in 14 days. My husband and I are the only users on this computer and we have never, in the past, setup a password and have never had to type in a password to logon. If I ignore the message I can continue to logon to Windows. Why am I suddenly getting this message? How do I disable this, before the 14 days are up?

Logon Method Not Allowed Suddenly?

Jul 16, 2010

am a school teacher and my school is trialling 1:1 computing with some students.Essentially, classmate pcs from intel with windows 7 enterprise. Yesterday at about the same time, all the students find that they cannot log into their classmate pcs, with the error "You cannot log on because the logon method you are using is not allowed on this computer. Please see you network administrator for more details."Now this is very strange - the students have been using their machines for about 2 months to date without any error. How and why did they suddenly act up, altogetheI took a machine that has not been issued out, and found that I could log in. Then I found that it is not connected to our wireless as we changed our password a few weeks back. So I keyed in the password, got connected, and logged off and log in again - this time it shows the error. At first I thought it could be a windows update messing things up, but this small experiment indicates that this is not likely as the wireless was connected only for a minute at most before i logged off. We did not change any group policies.

Few days ago my user account started to automatically logon. Before that I didn't have password, but I had to click on my username to start. I didn't change anything, or at least I didn't intentionally. When I go to netplwiz, option "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer" is checked, so I don't no what else should I do to disable automatic logon.

Windows Security Suddenly Needs Network Password?

Jul 1, 2011

My Windows 7 PC is asked for a Network Password (Windows Security Dialogue Box) on a home network when trying to access files on my XP machine on a two-PC home network. This was never been asked before. Windows 7 did a Windows Update last night and rebooted my computer. UserNames and passwords did not work. I did disable this feature from other recommendations... Local Policies > Security Options > Accounts: Limit local account use of blank passwords to console logon only. My XP machine can access files on my Windows 7 machine and does not ask for a password.

Possible To Add A Sound To Wrong Password On Logon?

Aug 3, 2009

college are messing around with computers and are trying to get his personal one pretty much all on a starcraft theme. We have been getting pretty far, his OS is Windows 7 Build 7600. We want to get it so that if a wrong password is entered, it says "Access Code Denied" in the old starcraft synthesized-like female voice. We have the audio clips, but we need to figure out how to incorporate that sound. It's obviously not in Control Panel -> Sound -> Sounds, as I found out did some intensive googling, and I came to the conclusion that it involves a bit of registry adding and visual basicOn an event like "windows logon" there is a linked .dll filemmres.dll -5853Really it says this, verbatim:[CODE]

I was entering my password. It is just numbers and I tried it with caps lock on and off. It was the correct password. I tried multiple times.

I had to reset my computer.

Is that normal? Could I have a virus? My computer has been acting 'weird' but not like it has a virus. I have used malwarebytes and avg. Both do not find anything.

I even went to task manager and tried to close it from there but it didnt work. The only way I was able to close it and make it go back to flashing at the bottom of my screen was to click the "change when these notifications appear" button and then to close that window.

1. should I install a new windows 7 version (home, professional, or whatever) and if I do that do will I still have my files, settings etc. on my computer?

2. is there an easy way to just continue with my windows 7 enterprise like I'll just enter a product key or something or do I really need to purchase a new one?

Windows 7 Extremely Slow After 6 Days Of Not Being Used

Jul 17, 2012

For the past 4 or 5 months I almost never turned my PC off, only restarted the system from time to time if it seemed a bit clogged or slow. Six days ago I went out of the house for the holiday so I had to turn off the computer (shut down). I did that by going to the main orb in win 7 and by selecting "shut down".Today I returned from the holiday and when I turned on the PC, I noticed that it boots EXTREMELY slowly, especially after it asks for my admin password. Also all the programs work extremely slowly (not only the boot sequence). It looks as if there is some resident program that sucks all the resources but I don't see it in the task manager. The current CPU usage is about 5% and there is about 2 MB free physical RAM.If I now start Chrome it will show up only after 5 minutes or so, or it may freeze the system completely. Even Notepad takes about 1 minute to show up after being selected. Several times I couldn't even bring up the task manager (I got the message "Windows can't initialize security tasks..." or something like that).I just did a system restore to a date when I remember that my PC definitely worked well (about 10 days ago), but I am still having the same problems. It also seems as if the program that controls the speed of the fans inside the PC is not working properly and right now I hear almost no noise from the fans. While I did a system restore from the Windows Safe mode the fans worked properly.
