A short time ago someone posted a link to a little program that changes the Widnows 7 startup sound with a click.I lost the program when my computer crashed and I can't find the source on the net.

Because I've only found drivers for 32bits until now, and only for XP but it's not a problem, Windows 7 can still deal with them, the problem is just with the 64b part.

Could someone please guide me with instructions on how to reinstall the typical options (i.e.broadband, dsl, dial-up adapters) or perhaps where I download them and the reinstall them onto my computer? I currently have dsl connection available that was previously working (a Westell wireless modem model #A90-750015-07) supplied thru my ISP Verizon. the modem has been verified to be functioning properly.

What is the difference between dual link DVI and single link DVI cables? Would I see a noticeable difference if I switch to dual link cables? Would I benefit any at all from switching from single link to dual link?
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen i turn on my computer it will boot up fine then it gets to the page of the users login (the blue screen with the user profiles) it plays the startup sound but the sound that plays is cutoff so it will only play the last second of the tune. Is there any way that i can fix this.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just finished installing Windows 7 Ultimate x64 in my system with all the latest drivers on it. I use a Crucial M4 128GB SSD. I just noticed now that whenever I restart the computer I don't hear the startup sound? All other sounds like Shutdown sound, clicking, etc. are fine. "play windows startup sound" is also checked in the Sound properties in Control Panel. What could be wrong with this? My first hunch was because the SSD was too fast for the sound to play but I asked some friends in another forum that also has the same SSD as mine that they do hear that Windows 7 startup sound.

So, for anyone who prefers not to tamper with dlls?First (this could be the hardest part): get the sndrec32.exe from Windows XP (just copy it from your old system). On your Windows 7 system, put the sndrec32.exe somewhere you prefer, e.g. in your Programs folder. Run the application once as an administrator and close it so it will register to the Registry. If you don't do this, you might get a warning message every time it runs. Create a shortcut to sndrec32 on your desktop. Right-click the shortcut > Properties > Tab Shortcut. Edit the target: add /embedding /play /close and the path to the wav file you want to be played at startup.E.g., change it to "C:Program Files (x86)sndrec32.exe" /embedding /play /close D:DocumentsMySound.wav Cut the shortcut from the desktop and paste it in your startup folder. (To access the startup folder, click START > All Progams, right-click on Startup > Explore all users ) Disable the normal Windows 7 startup sound. My guess is this is the sound card initialising but I never had this issue with the same hardware config using XP. It's properbly not an issue for most, but I have sensitive speakers that were not cheap and I am worried that it might be damaging them as it is a sudden sharp pop. Is anyone else experiancing this, or is it just me?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have installed a new Creative "Soundblaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro USB Audio System with THX SB1095" soundcard. I disabled the old on-board card. Note: It's USB. When I start-up, shutdown, sleep or wake, I get a very loud POP thru the speakers.I contacted Creative and they told me this is "normal" because Windows 7 is polling the USB input to see if there is anything connected. This doesn't sound right, because it happens when I shutdown or sleep, too! Why would Windows poll a usb input while shutting down or going to sleep?

Not really knowing an exact way to fix this I went to the device and disabled it hoping that could temporarily solve my problem. Now, I am assuming because of this whenever I boot into Windows 7 I get to the "please wait" screen then instantly get a blue screen every time and I can only boot into safe mode. View 9 Replies View Relatedi used to get the BSOD very often so i decided to recover the system to the initial state . i did that and everything was fine , then i updated the windows 7 service pack 1 and finished the installation and rebooted my computer , the start-up at least took half an hour at that time and the service pack 1 installation showed "not successful " i tried to again to update the service pack1 which showed 73.6mb - 892.6mb so i updated it again and again the same thing happened.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron and a while ago I shut down my PC and the next morning I was faced with options to repair my computer. It hung on the screen for ages before it actually came up with startup repair and supposedly fixed the problem. A few days later, everything got very slow and started to freeze a lot and before long, booting the computer got very slow as well as it hung for about ten minutes on a black screen after the 'welcome' screen before finally starting up. I decided to reinstall the operating system (I did NOT reformat the C drive), so I borrowed my Grandma's external hard drive and copied my files. After reinstalling using a Dell Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium Re-Installation DVD, I copied and deleted the files off the external hard drive onto my PC (I didn't know it would create a Windows.old folder) and started installing programs. Then I left it overnight to install quite a big program. This morning, somehow it had turned off. I turned it on and it gave me the safe mode options and a 'start windows normally' option. I chose the latter and after typing my password it hung on the welcome screen again. I left it for ages and it just went back to the user login screen again. I pressed the red button in the corner to shut it down but it just hung once again on an empty screen so I did a hard shutdown (held down the power button). I turned it on again...startup repair. It gave me the option for system restore, which I did (then realising when it finished that I hadn't made a backup). I booted it, and again it wouldn't start properly. At this time, safe mode booted fine. After trying various things (even using a compressed air can to get rid of dust) and a few hard shutdowns, suddenly every option from the advanced boot menu took me to startup repair except 'Repair your Computer' which gave the normal options for repair (although now it only gives me 2, Startup Repair and DataSafe Restore and Emergency Backup. Now when I do startup repair, some times it says it has fixed the problem, and sometimes it says it cannot be fixed automatically and gives me information on the problem (a few things it said were: 'StartupRepairOffline', 'AutoFailover' and 'CorruptRegistry').
I can't reinstall my computer because then I would lose my precious files.
Is there some way I can save my files and reinstall or even just save my files somehow or am I screwed?
My hp dv3t has been giving a message about checking a disk for consistency every time I reboot(ed) for about a week now, but today it froze after the countdown reaches zero (for bypassing the procedure)�nothing I do can get it past this step. What do I do? I tried booting from Safe Mode, it listed a bunch of drivers but then froze.I'm using W7 64-bit Home Premium.

Going back and clicking on the Standard User icon gets me running for the most part. Here's the BIG problem. Every time I try to install any program, the User Account Control box drops down and asks for the Administrator Password, plus the question,"Do you want to allow the following programs to make changes to your computer?" You click "Yes", but, since no one is in the Administrator office, your installation comes to a halt. This blocks "Install" and "Uninstall". I get lots of messages I need Adobe Flash Player. I've trie over and again to install it, going to Windows 32 bit, but can't uninstall my previous tries. It will always download, and that's all. I've tried to install my digital camera's CD, but can't.

Currently I'm trying to upgrade the system with Win Xp Home. It has a Gigabyte AMD AM2 Socket (GA-M57 SLI-S4) motherboard, AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6000+, 4 GB of ram and a Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS soundcard.
I ran the windows 7 upgrade adviser on the computer and then someone suggest I also run the vista upgrade adviser as well. On both it is telling me that there is a problem with "Windows Aero Support". I've seen lots of posts stating it will run on their video card but I have not seen anything on mine and need to know if I can upgrade to Win 7 Home Premium without a problem. My video card is a NVidia Geforce 7900 GTX. Does anyone know if that card will work with Win 7?
Then also it is telling me that my D-Link DWA-130 Wireless USB adapter is a problem. I went to their website and they have Vista drivers but not Win 7. Someone suggested not downloading the D-Link drivers but downloading the vista drivers and that it would work. I have little knowledge regarding Win 7 and therefore didn't know if this was good advice or bad advice on downloading the vista drivers. Is anyone here using this wireless adapter successfully with Win 7?
Last it mentions that it is not compatible with the Creative Game Port. I don't know if this is something that is downloaded with my Gigaabyte motherboard recovery disc. I don't think it was something I installed but not sure. AS far as I know it is not something I'm using so it doesn't matter if it isn't compatible (at least I think it's not). I didn't know if anyone knew about this.
I'm hoping anyone that has experience with any of this hardware will let me know if it is compatible with Win 7 before I upgrade it only to find it is compatible to upgrade.
I am trying to link my windows 7 computer to my Sony Bravia television. I have bought ethernet cables for my TV and router. I can get you tube on the TV so the link with the router seems to be OK. My computer is wifi to the router. How do I get the computer to recognise the TV? When I link them up I plan to play a slideshow.

I have AT&T DSL and at the most inconvenient times I get sent to an AT&T page that states " The Broadband Link is Currently Not Available" It has a reset button at the bottom but there is no need because I can wait a moment and refresh and it will say problem solved please close the browser. This has the ability to cause lost work.I have read alot of forums blaming everything from the wiring to the phone lines in the house to the hardware, anyhow everything on this house is Wifi so I don't know if this problem persist over hard line but I assume it does because others have complained of it.

I just want to know if the QoS is right, or how can I make my whole PC with the highest priority and not just ports. Will disabling items help/harm my internet?
