i have encountered a very annoying issue recently. I'm a graphic designer and shortcut lover, recently for some reason one of the most common Adobe shortcuts - ctrl+alt+shift+s - made my komputer swith off..I'm not sure what happened there, but if anyone of you know how to change native windows shortcuts or manage them, please let me know. View 3 RepliesI recently solved the problem why windows was hanging on boot up after the "Welcome screen and logo". It hung because I had media in the DVD drive.Now I would like to solve the issue of media in DVD drive preventing Windows from completing boot up.It was weird. If I did a warm restart or immediate start after shutdown Windows wouldn't load. If I shut down for five minutes it would start fine. Once I removed the media from DVD drive it would restart or boot normally.DVD isn't set up to boot in BIOS; I do that by pressing F12 during POST.

I used to think that it was due to my wireless headphones not being very good quality but I get it with my good quality wired earphones. Anyone got any ideas???? I would tell you what my sound card is but I don't know where to find the details also, it is a laptop. View 8 Replies View RelatedI often have to create Shortcuts to executable code. I used Shortcut Extension - Remove or Restore to get Code: SED.exe instead of the Windows 7 default Code: SED.exe - Shortcut as name of the newly created shortcut.
But I would prefer to have just 'SED'. Any way to do this automatically?
I think it might matter that I do not hide extensions ['Hide extensions for known files' (Option in Explorer -> Tools -> Folder Options... -> View)].
I have a fresh install of win 7 64 bit Home Premium. When I right click on a shortcut and open its properties dialog, the only tabs i get are "General", "Compatibility", "Security", "Details", and "Previous Versions", but no "Shortcut" tab. I have searched the Web and there are very few instances of this problem and no solution. I have tried everything I can think of with no success.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a new Windows 7 computer and set up Mozilla Sunbird calendar program. I want to assign a shortcut Alt+Ctrl+C to it to launch the calendar. When I do that by going to Sunbird's Start Menu link, opening properties and setting that as the shortcut, it does not work. Pressing Alt+Ctrl+C does nothing. If I assign Alt+Ctrl+D to Sunbird it works fine. It does not appear to a fault of Sunbird. If I assign Alt+Ctrl+C to Notepad that does not work either. It is like something is intercepting that hotkey but then doing nothing. I found a free utility called Ethervane ActiveHotkeys that finds assigned hotkey and it says Alt+Ctrl+C is assigned (as well as the other three hotkeys I have assigned to programs.) It is not however able to say what individual hotkeys are used for.

I have never had this problem before as i already have a number of different shortcuts for my favourite websites on my desktop. But, now when i try to create a shortcut an error comes up simply saying Explorer.exe Cannot create shortcut. The icon appears on my desktop, but when i click ok and cancel, another error box comes up saying "Item not found, could not find this item, This item is no longer located in c:, verify the items location and try again." I dont know whats suddenly caused it and i have tried a system restore but to no avail.

I could swear when I first installed Windows 7 that it was setup to be a shortcut to the "computer". However, it now always opens up to the "libraries". I even deleted (unpinned) it and tried pinning a new shortcut so it would open up to my "computer", but it still opens up to the "library". I have no use for "libraries". How do I fix this?

The desktop shortcut icons that I create myself to run existing programs keep disappearing from the desktop all by themselves. Those that were already on the desktop when I received the computer and those that are created by new software when installed on the computer have no problem remaining on the desktop. I never had the happen with WinXP.
