I have a folder with quite a few solid white .PNG images that can't be seen against the default white background. So far I have been either..
1- Highlight (select all)...but then you lose the multi-select functionality.
2- Move to desktop...then move back (very irritating)..
I downloaded a program that changed the folder background to a select image in windows XP. I tried doing the same for Windows 7...but it was extremely buggy. Folder would crash, etc. These are important folders and I need them to work.
I am using window 7 home basic 64 bit. When I click on an image and set that image as "desktop background" then it does not effect anything. Even I go to control panel and then background setting and set or change background then also it does not do anything.
i just was wondering if i can set a .GIF image as my desktop background for windows 7 without editing any registry files as ive been told to do in the past.
Is there a way to set the desktop background for a USB drive to an image, and have it portable so all PCs you plug it up to show the image? I can change the background using the desktop.ini, but it only works on my machine.. I want it to work wherever I plug it up?
I can use any of the backgrounds provided in Change Desktop Background in Appearance and Customization, but when I try to rightclick on an image such as in Wallpaper websites, It will not change. There is no error message. When I hit save as Desktop background in the pop-up, nothing happens.
I could successfully change my background image of the start menu with sevenforums existing threads. Unfortunately I could not find any image IDs for the start menu all programs background image. I searched through the threads and through Restorator, but with no result. share the IDs for 'all programs background image'?
PS: I changed already the white space of these images to grey: 771 805 806 807 808 809 810 811 812 813 814 815 816 992
I have a problem with Microsoft Word 2010. When I save the file as PDF file, the Word 2010 saves the file as PDF but the background image is in tiles, instead of stretched. Also, in the document, the background image is stretched. But when I save the document as PDF, it applies the background in tiles.
I've noticed that if I right click a jpg file I don't get the "set as desktop background" option in the context menu. I do for bmp and jpeg files so why not for jpg? It's not a problem as I can get around it but I'm just curious about why this should be so.
Is it possible with Win7 to change any picture (Jpeg, png, bmp etc) into an icon file to use for a folder image?I just realised that its not an actual folder... its a shortcut which has a folder as an icon, Its actually a shortcut to a folder on another drive, but I'd still like to change it to an image I choose.
I found a way to apply images to folders, I have large collection of music/ videos and I know all xp users love the way folder display images but Windows 7 has hard time applying this.
This step has to be applies manually on each folder but works for me.
Steps:
1.Right click on a Folder >> properties (select)
2. Properties windows (displayed) >> Select Customise (last tab)
3. Choose File.. (under Folder pictures) >> select Image(.jpg) (Note: All my images are .jpg Format, dont have be to be called Folder.jpg)
Note: My folder is not customise to specific type, e.g. Music, pictures etc. I have left it as General Items. (OS - Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit (6.1, Build 7100) RC)
I don't know if this has been asked already and sorry if it has.
Is there a way to save both Vista and Windows 7 complete system image on the same partition? If possible rename the folders at least (I tried this but didn't work)?
I have a limited space in my hard drive and allocated only one partition for system backups. I'm quite happy with Windows 7 and I would like to have both Vista and Windows 7 backups just in case. I'm also trying to avoid multiple DVDs as backup media as much as possible so that restoring the image would be easier for my kid when i'm not around.
I got folders of manga series i use like put the front sheet as the folder image as it helped me recognize witch one each one was easier, i use to do this on XP on my external and it was a simple roperties> customize > chose picture : and the image would be the entire folder icon and in nice quality , but after i moved to windows 7 (ultimate 64x) most folders it wont even allow customize and ones it will allow i have changed different files, default icon, icon, and other things, and the icon wont change the most i got one to change was that is made the image the first in line with the weird folder open icon with images, but i don't even want that open folder thing Is there a easy way to make it like it was, image as full folder icon without open folder effect thing Edit: i tried making icon files and changing the folders icon but this only changes them to open folders that wont shows anything anymore till i restore defualt icon + i placed the icon file into the folder and tried change it again, a desktop.ini file gets created and i have messed around with it trying different combinations but the folders icon stays as a default open yellow folder entire the desktop.ini is deleted ~ i figured a way make it work but it takes multiple tries, i placed the icon in the folder with HA attributes and pasted in a desktop.ini with[.ShellClassInfo]InfoTip=IconResource=ico.ico......and cant have any inherited permission stuff, and then sometimes have change the icon again in properties customize and then edit the ini again, and if the folder has Asia letters in it then need use another files ico and then switch over?
I have a question about System Image Backups. (Win 7 Ultimate, 64-bit).
I have setup System Image Backups to my external 1TB eSATA drive.
I have chosen to allow Windows to manage the space used for backup history, Windows says it will use up to 279GB (which is fine).
The properties on the actual "Windows Image Backup" folder on the external drive shows the size as 32.6GB. However The Windows backup menu "Manage Windows Backup disk space" shows "System Image: 68.90 GB."
Primary Question:
Is Windows Backup storing my system images somewhere else in addition to this folder, or is the menu just plain wrong?
Additional Question: Is the Windows Backup utility capable of doing differential backups for the system image, or is each backup a full backup? The GUI menus are not giving me enough information. Based on what I see, it looks like System Image backups are always full, and data files are incremental or differential.
With either of these two Products, if I create an Image will the Image "include" everything on the Partition? What I'm asking is, in the event I "delete" something from a Partition, and presuming the "deleted" item is not overwritten, will the "deleted" item be part of an Image created AND restorable by Windows or Acronis?
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit The windows system image backed up on my external hard drive (2TB WD USB3) is not showing while restoring the PC from an image.
The only option available is my hard drive partition on which i also had saved a system image. Though windows recommends External hard drive for backing up image when backing up the system.
I need a little help figuring this out. I made a backup image a while back on my network. Now that I want to re-image, I reboot as requested, wait for it to load, and Windows says it can't find my backup, "if it is on a network, close this window , type the network location."Putting in the network location does nothing, I'm just returned to the screen where it would list the backup image if it had found it, but there's nothing there.Thinking perhaps my NAS was the problem I copied the image onto a portable hard drive, but after rebooting into the restore program, Windows 7 doesn't find the USB drive.
Lately my OS seems to have some kind of problem. As i'm surfing with my browser (Chrome), sometimes out of nowhere (or usually when i try to save a picture with right click>save as) the frames of another window that i have open pop-up on the screen.Like it's kinda bringing it forth but not quite. From what i've experienced this happens with my utorrent window or windows of the Windows 7 explorer.I mean not the ie browser. The one you use to explore your system files etc. Here's how it looks like.I have a dark windows background open on my Chrome, so that it's clearly visible.
My desktop background is black, i reboot new windows 2 3 times but it didn't work... tried nvidia, ease ov access and many ways i ind on net but still it is not irking
I have just recently got a asus travelmate netbook(school gave it to me) and i seem to be the only one who can't change the background. I can change the colour of the taskbar and change the background to a solid colour but i cant use pictures! I tried the control panel and right clicking on a picture but nothing happens
Several months ago... I got a virus or malware that messed up my computer... only STOPzilla fixed it... .and now I cannot change my background wallpaper.
Since I am a huge NASCAR fan... I must have my drivers current car... not last years....
Today I tried to change it again... and now all I can change is the background colors.... no themes work and I cannot set as background an image.... it says access denied..
