My copy of Windows 7 (Ultimate, 64bit), has begun to do something very weird and annoying recently. If I'm installing a game on my PC and I want to select a different location to install other than the default, I click browse (of course), and the window pops up for me to select a new location. However the sidebar (which should usually contain a list of the drives and folders of my PC for quick navigation and selection) is completely blank. This makes it incredibly frustrating trying select a location. It means I have to know exactly where I want to put the game before I load up the installer so that I can type in the location in the address bar at the bottom of the window. This also happens when I try to save a document through Microsoft Word and in fact, opening or saving any other type of file through any other type of program. All this means, that, I need to type the location of whatever I'm trying to open or save, which can take a very.

My clock stops "staying on top" after a couple hours after every time I boot. Since my taskbar is set to disappear, I like having a clock readily visible. Is this because I'm using a third party gadget, or is there a fix for this?

After getting Windows 7 x64 installed, I was having a problem getting the Pandora Gadget to work. It turns out this gadget uses Flash, which only comes in a 32 bit version. The Sidebar is x64, and can't access Flash. I came up with a quick and dirty way to load the 32 bit sidebar instead which allows flash to work! I know there are several gadgets out there that use flash so this should be a fix for all of them.
I always wanted to revert Seven back to Beta visuals, i already have the Fish wallpaper, and know apps to change the logon screen, but i discovered something that i can't figure out how to change it. I changed via the dialog the TEXT SIZE via the screen resolution in the control panel to CUSTOM SIZE.With one of the newer "Cinema" or Very Wide screen (1680 X 900) displays after I'd increased the text size to over 160 % I didn't get the possibility to SAVE any documents any more via the SAVE AS button. The SAVE dialog would appear but the SAVE button was missing.The effect was noticed in Office 2007 (all programs) Notepad etc etc.Seems to be a Windows fault as this should not be allowed to happen.on more traditional "Squarer" type monitors -- no problem.
Is there any way to set the default save location folder for downloads in IE8 to the last folder that the same file type was saved in? It makes no sense to default to a single folder and have to browse through to the desired folder for every single download, so I assume there has to be an option somewhere.
I hope I can get my question right!! I have a Tohiba satalite L>T I don't like the annoying sidebar for the Toshiba cam settings. It pops out if you point the mouse to the left of the screen where it is located. I just got my pc back from repair, so i'm starting over. The amazing part is I disabled it the first time when I got my laptop, but I can't remember how I did it. I have been going crazy trying to find answers. Usually I save any research tracks in finding answers, but couldn't find where I wrote it down the first time.
Currently my sidebar not working properly. I can choose the gadgets that I want but when I drag it to desktop it doesn't show correctly . I restarted my PC many times and it still not working.

I'm looking for something exactly like the Photo Frame widget, but for videos instead of pictures. My sidebar and gadgets suddenly disappeared. If I right click on my desktop and click on gadgets it opens the gadget window but there are no gadgets there. I've tried the restore desktop gadgets installed by windows and got the message "There were no Windows or administrator gadgets to restore". I've tried deleting zones in regedit, turning the windows gadget platform off and on etc, re-registering the dll files using- regsvr32 msxml3.dll regsvr32 scrrun.dll regsvr32 jscript.dll.
In both build 7048 and 7068 I have massive memory leakage going on in the gadget sidebar, and can't solve the problem aside from restarting the process to clear the memory.
Is MS aware of this? And is there a fix in newer builds? Otherwise, any useful advice?
I have a problem with my DVD Room, HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-H55N ATA Device. It won't read blank CD's/I can't burn on blank CD's nothing, but on DVD i can.
Is it possible to "Save In Last Location" without changing the "Default Save Location" from then on? My computer is running windows 7 ultimate. From the last few days I have noticed that my computer does not save changes before shutdown or restart.
Take for example you have placed the recycle bin folder on top-left corner of the desktop which was earlier placed on the bottom-right corner. Then after restarting you would get the recycle bin folder again on the bottom right corner. But if you save something in the disk like a document in Documents folder, then it will still be there at the disk even after restart.

I have created a 'Template' and saved it as a Word Template (*.dotx) and it's been saved in my 'Documents Library'.
How do I get it to appear in the My Templates folder which appears under the Office Button in the 'New' option?
When I select 'New/My Templates', the dialogue box advises that to add a template, click Save As/Trusted Templates... but Trusted Templates is not there!
