Jan 14, 2013my samsung laptop RV511 is only 18 months old, the hardrive gave up. I have had a new hardrive installed however only 500 GB rather than 640GB. The recovery disc did not work so had to download windows 7. My webcam seems to be non existant since installing the new hardrive. Do I need to install drivers for the laptop to recognise there is a webcam on this machine

Oct 5, 2012I reinstalled windows 7 64 bit on my Samsung R580 and now a lot of things aren't working. It used to have windows 7 home premium 32 bit on it from the factory. The wifi isn't connecting, the ethernet port doesn't work/ isn't connecting to internet, the hdmi output doesn't work. I used to be able to change the brightness/volume using the FN key and the arrow keys and now that doesn't work. The taskbar used to be see through and now its a solid color and I can't get it to be see through again. I think that's because something with the chipset is wrong or the driver. There used to be a power setting called Samsung optimized and now that's not there either. I don't have any of the backup file/ disks either.

Although the integrated webcam is connected as the light comes on and there is an image, it is not clearAs soon as I realised the webcam was not working I took it back to the repair shop and they checked the connections and said everything is fine.The tech support of the company that sold me the screen said to reinstall the screen as maybe the wires are not connected properly. However, the repair shop guy said everything is connected and the webcam itself is connected. He said they can reinstall the screen but if there is nothing wrong on their part (i.e. they have connected it properly) I will have to pay.The repair shop guy said he thinks that the webcam captor got damaged when I broke the screen (sorry if captor is the wrong word, I am currently abroad and the repair shop guy speaks French).Do you have any advice? I do not want to get it reinstalled only to find everything is connected and have to pay again

Dec 24, 2011I've recently purchased a Samsung T23A750 monitor and to my disappointment when I try to watch a movie the built in speakers are not functioning. I have a Sony Vaio Z216GX connected via HDMI to the monitor (HDMI-DVI) port. I can definitely see the video, but no audio is playing from the speakers. The built in speakers are not at fault- I did a self-diagnosis of the monitor and the speakers seem to work fine. I also set the monitor as the default for the audio and even when Win 7 says its functioning properly, the speakers still don't work. Conversely, setting the default to my PC speakers work fine. I'm sure its not the HDMI cable- I used the same one to hook my pc to my tv with everything working fine.

Unfortunately the computer already has these mapped to a large set of default functions such arrow keys and page up / page down and shift-5 does nothing at all. I installed a trainer for cheats and such for the game, and it requires the use of the NumPad to navigate the trainer's menus within the game itself. But I cant find a key labelled "NumPad" anywhere on my keyboard, so now I'm stumped as to how to activate it. There must be some kind of function key or some other arcane key combo I have to press to activate it. But I've tried everything I know, nothing has worked. I decided not to post this question in the gaming section because I also have other apps besides GTAIV which also require use of the NumPad, so this is more of a generalized issue. This is a brand new laptop, not refurbished or anything like that.

Oct 14, 2011I am sure that I somehow messed this up big time. The Samsung Netbook is an N145 Plus. It works fine when hooked to the internet via cable. When I first started to hook up wifi I was given options such as who did I want to connect to etc. I think I need to reset the Home group/public places fields and try it again from the start. I'm not looking to use wireless for home at this time. I need to set this up for Public Places connection and tight security for my wife so that she can use this pc while she waits for her clients in court or doctors offices. I have never worked with wireless before and am really lost. I have an Atheros AR9825 adapter with updated software and drivers and an Asus USB N10 wifi antenna with current drivers in place.

Nov 16, 2012I have a Samsung NP300E5A-A03US laptop, It has it's own interface for it's updates, it keeps telling me I need a bios update, I have called Samsung support, chatted with Samsung techs. I have done this update at least 15 times, 2 different ways. The tier 2 tech told me that I didn't need the update, He said why do you think that your computer needs a bios update,and I said, because I keep getting these messages that I need it, and it is in the interface as needed. He said, you don't really need it, I said, why does it tell me I need the update. He said ,is your computer ok?, I said, it has some performance issues, and it turns stuff on and off by itself.I have talked to at least 5 different people ,they all make me go thru the same steps. I keep telling them, this won't work, I have tried it ten times. They are starting to get rude. I googled bios updates and Samsung, and a lot of posts came up. Can someone help me and also to understand what bios is, it says it helps with computer stability.
