I'm at my wits end with a new ssd. It's seen in bios. When I go to install windows no drive is seen. I'm using a USB stick to install. I've tried raid IDE and achi. It happens when I tried and old vista disk too.
I purchased an Inspiron 15R today and wanted to do a clean install of Windows 7 right out of the box. I'm using a Windows 7 disk from another machine.I formatted the drive and all of it's partitions (recovery etc.) and installed the OS. After booting though I get sent to an error screen that tells me Windows had an error starting up and that I should choose a way to startup with the usual safe mode etc. No matter what I choose it sends me to this screen. So I booted from the disk again to attempt to format and reinstall, but now I have no disk drives to install to.
I have run a diagnostics check and nothing seems to be wrong, the HDD is still being recognized in the BIOS. What can I do to get my HDD back and showing up in the install destination options?
I have a HP Pavillion dv6000 that was running vista. i have done a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate. In Vista I had a Nvidia Graphics card and drivers, but now it shows that I have a Standard VGA Graphics Adapter, under the device manager. I have downloaded a number of drivers from Nvidia, but all fail, they say there is no device that they are compatible with. Should I re- insatll with the original disk that came with my computer and do a Windows 7 UPGRADE, will that make a difference?
I'm installing Windows 7 on an older PC. It was running on it before but my hard drive bit the dust. When I boot from the install disk and go to install it, there are no hard drives listed and the message says "No drives were found. Click Load Driver to provide a mass storage driver for installation."
It's an old Dell Dimension 8300 with a couple WD hard drives in it, a 250GB and a 500GB. I could get the model numbers if that's necessary.
i am trying to upgrade from Vista to Windows 7. After the compatibility checkup is complete I see a message saying that Kaspersky Anti Virus is either preventing or will damage the installation during upgrade and it will not let me continue until I have "uninstalled it from my system".
However I've never even heard of the program until today and there's no trace of it on my system.
I have a toolbar on my taskbar titled "Programs". It has about eight folders in it. I made another toolbar, and placed it directly adjacent to the Programs toolbar, to obscure the eight folders and force it to be a dropdown menu.Trouble is, as soon as I lock my taskbar, right next to the arrow that displays the eight items of my Programs toolbar in menu-form, one of the eight items is showing up as an icon, as if the other toolbar isn't close enough to the Programs toolbar in order to completely obscure the eight items.
i protected password for my pendrive it is kingston 4gb then it showing 3.75b, but in properties it has been showing 576 kb how to get my original size (3.75gb)
I have a number of printers on the same port ( different versions of PCL5 , PCL6, and PS drives ). In the Windows 7 Control Panel "Devices and Printers" a whole slew of versions are missing and only the latest printer installed on that port is shown. But if I open up a Print.. dialog from any of my applications the names of all the Printers are there from which I can choose.
Why does not the Control Panel "Devices and Printers" show all my printers in Windows 7 ? Under Windows Vista I can see all of them.
I have Windows 7 ultimate 64bit, I just upgraded from professional, when I had professional, all of my videos had thumbnail previews. Now, just about zero do. Is there a way to get this back to the way it was before? For example, I use VLC as my default player to open vids and it is just the cone, no thumb. The same goes with WMP
The Libraries folder exists, but there is nothing in there. No Documents, no music--nothing. Right clicking and choosing "restore default libraries" has no effect--not even an error message.I've seen this topic pop up in many different forums, and the recommended fix is always to right click and select "Restore Default Libraries." As mentioned, this has no effect on my machine.
I've a Hitachi 500GB SATA HDD, Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit. The other day i was just playing around with Disk Management and unintentionally right clicked on one of my drives and clicked "Rescan". The Disk Management did something for a while and then my PC restarted and that particular drive disappeared in my computer. Although I'm able to see the partition in Disk management but not in the list of volumes but in the bottom view of my disk. That partition does not have a Drive letter, I've tired to change the drive letter but it says "the disk management view is not up to date" I've tried some partition Manager software to assign a letter to my drive but all in vain. I've also found a solution to the error "the disk management view is not up to date" by updating my windows but that too didnt work for me. I've very important data on that drive and i really want it back. Tried every single thing googling around and used DiskPart in MS Dos also, nothing worked.
all my computer motherboard has a max memory of 8gb. i install 12gb when i boot into windows 7 64bit it says 12gb. will the computer used all 12gb or only 8gb
My PS3 at one point showed the Windows 7 "DLNA" icon and I was able to stream my music, picture, movies and all that good stuff without a problem. I even have an app on my Android phone called "2player" that would allow me to stream my music from my laptop to my phone (just the way the PS3 would allow me to) but I have come to the terrible discovery that my PS3 nor my android phone are picking up my laptop. I have been to many forums, websites and other means of assistance and it seems that all of my settings are correct, yet I can't seem to find a fix to this issue. I am hoping that someone has good news for me as I have tried just about everything and nothing has worked. Also, I am aware that Windows 7 has an available "play to" option...well my laptop doesn't give me that option.
So I have defragged my system multiple times to optimize my overall system performance and every single time it shows 1% defragmented, eventhough I have ran the built in defragger for windows 7 64-bit home premium x amount of times to fix this.
I know that its not an immediate concern, but is this something I should be concerned with, since something seems to be wrong during file allocations when defragging.
My Windows 7 64 bit computer has started locking up. I start it in safe mode and disable the sound card, which seems to sort of sort it out. However, when starting in safe mode, the lines on words on the screen duting boot up mostly include/windows32.Does this mean my machine is trying to use a 32 bit version?
in my list of updates since it was released. However I have put off installing it until the reviews were in.Last nite I decided to bite the bullet and do the install, and lo and behold SP1 is nowhere to be found in the list of available updates? Also checked update history to be sure it didn't get installed sneakily nowhere to be found?Spent sometime on the internet looking, but could find nothing addressing this.Where do I get SP1 now? Microsoft website? Why is it gone from the update list?
A friend of mine has a laptop with windows 7 and he told that sometimes when he boots his pc the windows network indicator is square with a X(no connetions-not connected, which i think means that there is no wifi adapter , and not that there are no available networks-this is with signal icon and a x) so he cant connect to any wifi networks even though there are available the problem remains until he shuts down and may fix at next boot
Currently my sidebar not working properly. I can choose the gadgets that I want but when I drag it to desktop it doesn't show correctly . I restarted my PC many times and it still not working.
When I was transferring mp4 videos from my laptop to my phone, Windows 7 was asking me if I want to convert them. That was a really good option, because they were running on my phone better than the mp4. But now that option is gone. So guys, can you tell me how should I enable this option again?
I created a bootable key of Backtrack 5 using YUMI from Pendrivelinux. Choosing USB as first boot device allows me to access the key and choose to boot BT5. It doesn't seem to boot up properly but at least I can access the drive; so I should be able to format it, right? On booting to both/ either Win7 or Ubuntu 11.04, the drive isn't mounted. Under Win7, it's available only under Device Manager as an Unknown Device and comes complete with exclamation mark! It also seems to be listed under USB Controllers as a USB Mass Storage Device (properties say Device working properly!). There is also no listing of the drive under the Disk Management section of Administrative Tools/Computer Management. I have also tried Spotmau but the drive still doesn't show up. Any ideas of how to format the key? There is no data worth saving on it, as it can easily be rebuilt, but it's a handy 4Gb Kingston Datatraveller 102 stick.
I have windows 7 professional service pack 1 installed on my computer. I found that the clock time does not set to new time even if I change it, after a minute or to it automatically reverts back to false settings. I tried changing it by clicking the clock time on the right bottom corner and changed it to current time. In internet time tab of change time and date setting window, it is set to time.windows.com. Is there anything I could do to set it right? What is the reason of this behaviour?
i have a dell inspirion 15r with windows 7 i think i moved a file trying to delete Itunes and now every time i try to do something up pops the media player i try to get system restore and the media player comes up is there another way to resore back a few days to correct this i have tried to delete the media player but it is noware on the delete program
I just got windows 7 and am loving it, its like getting a new computer. One aspect I really loved was the speed of the search function. However I must have changed something as when I search now none of the results from the Documents Library are showing up, even when you click See more results>Libraries, and even when you navigate to the folder and type in the top right hand search box. The Pictures Library results are showing up but only when you click See more results.I just noticed the same thing with the Downloads folder, where I have a folder named Black Lagoon and I type in Black in the top right hand search box and the only results I get are where the word Black is mentioned in some pdfs.
windows 7 boot screen isn't showing ,its still showing the vista green bars . ive heard if youre resolution is too low it doesnt show my current res is 1280*720 but even if i switch it the res to 1920*1080 it still doesnt show ..im using HDMI cable and using my tv as a moniter ..why you think its not showing?
