SSD Fresh Does Not Start
Apr 3, 2012
I recently installed a new 60GB SSD as my primary hard drive and re-installed Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I then installed SSD Fresh from Abelssoft to optimize Windows to run on the SSD. It seemed to install okay, but when I try to run the utility, its splash screen appears briefly before it quietly closes. No errors are displayed; the utility just fails to launch. I have run SSD Fresh on another SSD-equipped Windows 7 Pro x64 computer in the past without any problems.Does anyone know what might be preventing the program from running? I tried shutting down the Spybot Resident and disabling the firewall and virus scanner with no luck. I also tried running the tool as administrator; I even tried reinstalling it, running the installer as administrator. [code]

my computer is about 2 years old. It first came with Windows vista 64. A few months ago I got a hold of a copy of windows 7 pro 32, so I wanted to check it out, even If I was going to take a hit on ram. Well now I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64, but after doing a fresh install I kept getting BSOD after the windows logo. I was able to complete the setup after removing all my ram except for one stick. The same problem persists after setup. I can boot up in safe mode just fine with all of my ram.

So my XPS caught fire and my mom gave me her old computer as she got a new one.i threw some good parts from my XPS into this Dimention 8400 so it has better specs to run windows 7.3GB of ram and my X800XT radeon videocard and the 3.0GHz HT 64 bit processorNow i installed windows 7 32 bit ultimate from my XPS and it takes 20 seconds to get to the logon screen, but after that once you log in the "Loading" screen takes 3-6 mins along with once the desktop shows up it takes another 5 mins or so to even press the start button and bring the start menu up, 45 seconds to 2 mins to bring the internet up and this is a FRESH install, as of like....20 mins from this post it finished installing. not even activated yet

I have a desktop with Windows 7 & a 1TB HDD, and everything is on the HDD. If I want to add an SSD & put the OS & some programs on it is there an easy way to do that? Perhaps copying all the data folders to an EHD & then making an image of the stripped down HDD & restoring that to an SSD? And then putting the data folders back onto the HDD?Or do I have to start from scratch & re-install a fresh copy of Windows 7 to the SSD?

I have been using windows 7 for some years. Recently I formatted my pc since unwanted programs, bugs, viruses and junk was accumulating and I wanted a fresh start. The pc came with windows 7 64bit pre-installed and the re-seller gave me a cd along with it. After I formatted the pc (I only formatted the c: drive, I kept all the important and backed up software, drivers and any important documents in the D: drive). After going through procedures and a successful installation the windows booted and apparently it took 5-10 minutes to get to the desktop icons.
Here are the things I did afterwards.
- I tried to boot in safe mode, it just get stuck at classpnp.sys.
- I re installed the os over 9 times now so don't ask to do that.
- I ran repair a lot of times. It does not work.
- I ran registry checks/cleanup, I installed all the correct drivers which are the latest.
- I not stop searched the whole web for 4 straight hours, I seen this happening with a lot of other users.
- Not hardware or software was installed just a clean format.
This happened at the very first boot up after os installation, so installed software's can be ruled out (non was installed). The computer is working just find but the boot up time .... Anyways I think that bios is responsible?
System Spec:
Acer Aspire M3910
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 750 @ 2.67Ghz
Memory : 4gb DDR3
Storage : 1 TB HDD
BIOS : American Megatrends PO1-AO

I tried installing Windows 7 64 bit OEM on a fresh hard drive but it kept crashing and now when I try booting the system seems to think Windows is installed saying ''Windows failed to start'' in boot manager. I even tried loading the computer up with a different hard drive but it STILL says that!

My work machine's HDD is on its way out. It currently has XP Pro x86 on it. I got a fresh new HDD and upgrade version of Win7 x64 Pro.
I booted from the Win7 x64 disc, it went through its whole install thing on the new HDD, and then when it got to the product key, it wouldn't accept the one that came in the box. I read on the web that upgrade versions must have XP or Vista already installed for it to work.
But, the 7 documentation says I have to do a Custom install if I'm upgrading from XP. A custom installation deletes whatever is on the partition, I think. So how can it work when upgrading from XP?
I have actually gone back and installed XP on the new HDD (that had its own share of problems, couldn't even get the internet connection working), and now trying to do a custom installation of 7 again. When it gets to the product key section, should I put in my original XP product key? Or will the 7 product key work this time?

All of these components are less than days old, bought new and put straight into this build. Keep getting a BSOD so I guess I'll try to give as much information as I can and hopefully someone can give me a hand. It's also worth noting that it seems to occur more frequently while playing Star Wars the Old Republic but has also occurred while not doing so. I had a lot of trouble with blue screens on this system (as per profile) with a previous installation too, but never got round to dealing with it properly. So now, it's a less than week old installation that I've put very few things on yet, but crashes a *lot* when I try to run games. Does blue screen outside of this, just not as much.
The error codes vary, but most common is IRQL_LESS_OR_NOT_EQUAL.

I have/had a Windows 7 x64 Ultimate.
CPU: Intel i5 2500K clocked at 4.0ghz (stock voltage)
Cooler: Corsair H50 Cooler
Graphics: Zotac GTX 560 TI OC AMP edition
RAM: Kingston HyperX 2x 4GB Ram 1600MHZ DDR3 1600
Hard Drive: Intel 320 160GB Solid State 1.8"
Motherboard: Biostar TP67B+
Power Supply: Antec Power Supply 400W High Current
Sound card: HT Omega Claro Plus
After running the computer for about a year, with all updated drivers and such, BSODs starts to occur. At first, I assume it was a virus (had avast before); so I decided to fully reformat the hard drive with Windows 7 x64 Ultimate again. I remember reading the BSOD screen, and sometimes they had different error codes. Strangely, sometimes my hard drive would not be detected until I had to restart many times until a successful detection for the SSD would occur. So I reformatted, however; in the process of installing my first driver (Nvidia for GTX 560), I got a BSOD. Giving up hope, I decided to come here and report the problem. After that I just installed several drivers but not all.

I am getting an SSD drive & going to be doing a fresh install of Windows 7. While I understand the process of configuring your system for usage of the drive (unplug the other drives so the SSD is only one connected while installing, turning off prefetch, etc). The part I'm confused with is how to move the users folder so it defaults to the "D" drive. I get I can "Move" the folder, Add the "Location" or do the "robocopy" method & create a junction.

A new Samsung 840 pro SSD is on it's way with the courier and I will remove my present OCZ and will install a fresh Windows 7 pro. At present I have the SSD divided in 2 partitions C:system and D:Programs my first question regards the opportunity to keep the 2 partitions: is it good or bad for the SSD?
1) make an iso of partition D:programs
2) remove OCZ econnect the Samsung SSD
3) Check Uefi bios if AHCI is marked
4) Install 7 on C: (automatic alignment od the SSD)
5) Create partition D:
??Optimize?? Is it better to do it at this stage? Or after having installed various programs? I think at this stage but would appreciate your suggestions including what sort of optimization is advisable. I could eventually use RT7.Then I would copy from the iso all the programs on their own place D: and from the various distribution files will make the various setup (just for the programs to be registered in the Registry)

I'm trying to install windows 7 on a new hdd for a new computer. I downloaded the student discounted win 7 professional on microsoft's site, and i'm trying to use their downloader tool to put it on my usb drive. When I go to use the downloader tool, I select the iso i've downloaded from the site as the iso I want to use, but it tells me it's not a valid iso file. Is there something else I'm supposed to do with the iso before I try to use the tool to put it on my usb?

I have an Asus c90s laptop and about 6 months ago I updated to windows 7 after vista didnt work when I updated the BIOS. At first my USB ports and everything worked but over time they stopped working one by one. My CD/DVD burner also stopped writing cd/dvds. I believe this was most likely due to the fact that I updated windows automatically. Recently I downloaded the Windows 7 ISO and mounted and installed it. It didn't ask for my product key and I believe it simply backed up my old configuration, drivers, updates, etc when it installed. Because of this my USB ports still don't work and I really need to use my mouse as my finger pad is in rough shape. I was wondering if I used another computer to burn the ISO image to a disk and booted from there would it install fresh? Without the updates that most likely caused my USB ports to stop working.I've tried every fix for the USB ports and simply can find no solution.

I've just made a new fresh install of Windows 7 - 64bits (legal version). Everything was fine, all drivers were up to date. But, when I install updates from Windows Update, during the installation of the SP1 (when the screen is "do not turn off the computer"), the computer reboots, and it said that it occurs a BSOD !? I've seen nothing. According to Whocrashed, it's because of BAD_POOL_HEADER, from ntoskrnl.exe (which belongs to Nvidia I think) and e1c62x64.sys (for Intel LAN)... After reboot, Windows continues slowly its updates like everything was OK... but I wonder is that SP1 & updates have been compromised (poorly done, half or what) 'cause of this BSOD? Should I reformat the computer?Windows Update indicates that all these updates were successful...

I wiped it clean from issues of locking up. I have done 3 fresh installs of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit retail using all up to date drivers and everything, I have tried with CPU overclocked and normal clock. When I boot up she runs fine and then when I start listening to music off of my backup drive or browse the internet she will lock up at random, and by lock up I mean it is like im looking at a picture of my screen frozen with no responsiveness whatsoever not even the mouse moving no HDD activity ... nothing! So Ive installed the OS 3 TIMES fresh install new partitions format etc. It does it every time after I let windows update do its thing or just listen to music off the backup drive.pecs are:Windows 7 Ultimate x64 RetailBiostar A780XA2-03 Socket AM2+ MotherboardAMD Athlon 64 X2 3800 CPU4GB Ram - I have swapped sticks that I have had - ( 4 1gb sticks 533mhz)

This PC has ran fine since 2008 when it was built. It was recently updated to Windows 7 Pro OEM. During the OS upgrade it had more memory added (4x2GB, all slots filled). Upgrade and install went flawlessly. All software (photoshop, premiere, firefox, antivirus) was re-installed without any errors or hick-ups. Upon updating firefox (I believe the timing was co-incidence) it Blue Screened. It has had issues ever since. So my last stitch effort was to back everything up and re-install Windows and hope that it fixed the problem. Needless to say that it hasn't been fixed and it still randomly blue screens. Windows Memory Diagnostic ran with no errors returned
