SB0460 Not Working On Dell T5400 With Windows 7 64
Nov 15, 2011
I have a Dell Precision T5400 workstation that was recently upgraded to Windows 7 64. Since the upgrade, I'm unable to use my audio card. I've downloaded and installed the latest drivers from Creative several times. No matter what I do, the device won't become available and I get a "Code 39" message in properties for the device in the device manager.
Here's a list of things I've tried: I've uninstalled and swept out all creative drivers and re-installed. No luck. I've done the same and removed, rebooted, shut down, re-installed the card and installed the drivers. No luck. I've tried running the installers in different compatibility modes. No luck. I've check the registry entries for upper and lower bound entries in case this issue was similar to the occasional missing CD/DVD problem that's fixed by this registry hack. No luck. I've lowered available memory to 2 Gigs as greater than 4 Gigs has been reported as a problem for SB cards in the past. No luck. Dell support had nothing. Dell doesn't provide Windows 7 drivers for this card or for the onboard sound card, for that matter. There's plenty of talk in the threads about "Daniel K" drivers, but all the links are dead ends.
I've read through the Sound Blaster sticky thread and tried everything I could and some extra things to boot.
OS Name Microsoft Windows 7 Enterprise
Version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601
Other OS Description Not Available
I installed Windows 7 professional 64 bit on a clean partition of my Win XP computer, as a dual boot configuration. Everything installed fine with the exception of the sound card. It is a Creative Soundblaster X-Fi xtrememusic, model SB0460.
In device manager it is listed as "Other Devices > Multimedia audio controller" instead of a sound card.
I downloaded and tried to install the latest 64 bit drivers from Creative, but it failed because it could not "find" the card.
Attempting to manually install a generic driver from device manager fails because Creative is not even on the list
of manufacturers.
When I ran Windows 7 upgrade advisor, it found no problems and indicated that the sound card was compatible.
It runs flawlessly in XP, so I am stumped as to a solution.
The initial response was this:
Shut down the PC, open the case the physically remove the card from its slot. Restart the PC. Leave it running a few minutes then shut it down again and replace the card. Restart the PC. Does Windows 7 now 'see' it?
I tried the suggested solution, but the result was the same. I even moved the card to another PCI slot, without success. Apparently, if the sound card does not show up under "Sound, Video and game controllers" in Device Manager, the Creative driver installer cannot "find" the device.
I recently installed windows XP on my dell XPS which has a windows 7 preinstalled on it. To proceed with windows XP installation i changed the BIOS setting of SATA from AHCI mode to ATA. Windows XP has been installed properly. Now when i try to reboot the system its taking me to windows XP all the time, i am not able to use windows 7. I want my laptop to show the options of switching between XP and windows 7.
I have been trying to get my Dell all-in-one photo 926 printer to work for over a month. Every thing I read and try is from 2009 and the links or anything on them are either obsolete now or no longer there. When I plug my printer in, it goes through all the steps except when it comes down to the driver. I have installed, uninstalled about everything under the sun.
I have Dell computer with Windows 7. I went to start it up, I have no login. I goes straight to my desktop. It has no start up or icons, just blank picture. What can I do?
Windows explorer has stopped working on startup, which means that you cannot load any diagnostics to try and recover! Have tried starting in Safe mode which ends up in the same status.
My old Office 2003 is unable to work normally on new Windows 64 bit Dell. Old files (transferred from old computer) and New Documents created on new computer using Word fail to open immediately and require User Account action from winword.exe every time I try to open any document (several steps). Any way to resolve this short of buying Office 2010?
i recently changed the new os in dell N5010 its win7 ultimate 64biti have installed all the drivers but my internal webcam is not working showing plug&play support error
the drivers for my USB 3.0 are showing installed in the device manager...but none of the devices connecting to either of the USB 3.0 of my Dell laptop are getting detected...what should I do???
I have just got a new laptop for my mum a dell Inspiron 15-3520 with windows 8 on frist think i did was put windows 7 on, everythink when well apart from the webcam does not work now. Got the drivers and software from the dell website and when i open the dell webcam software it says that the webcam is not supported. In the device manager it just cums up with intergrated cam and does not let me upgrade drivers or change them.
I have four ports. Two are working, and other other two are not. My Logitech unifier is recognized and also the cable to and my printer. Flash drives are not at these two ports, but if I remove the unifier and plug in a drive, the drive is recognized. I ran Dell's "USB Status Test" with the pre-installed software, and both "pass the test"
Device version 0.0.0 USB version 2.0.0 Microsoft driver version 6.1.7601.21692, 6-21-2006 Driver c:windowssystem32driversusbhub.sys (more may be truncated??)
I ran the USB POrts scan, and the display shows devices attached to each port.
I am trying to create a Windows 7 pro image to deploy but I am having difficulty when I deploy the image because of the built in SSD hybrid drive that comes with the laptop. When i deploy it will just loop and will not complete the setup when I push the image down to the new laptop.
My wife has a Dell studio 1555 laptop and the Bluetooth 370 adapter doesn't appear to be working after upgrade to Windows 7. It won't recognize external devices. I've downloaded drivers that I thought might be the problem but to no avail.
