View 2 RepliesI would like to ask you about my problem in Window 7 professional 32bit.I just reinstall it, and update it. But when I change Processor Power Management at 5% min and 80% max in power plan at both battery and plugin, so when I am in Windows everything works fine, but when I start a game in full-screen, this power plan will change to 100% for max and min, and stay like that. I change it as Administrator. It is on laptop Toshiba A300D.But before this last reinstall everything works fine.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI recently installed the newest edition of VirtualPC on my Win7 ultimate machine. Having used VPC 2007 in the past, I was expecting a similar experience. Only to be disappointed when I installed a VM of Win7 Pro, and it was extremely slow. The processor speed reported was 5 Mhz. I find this unusual given my host machine's specs. I assured that Virtualization was enabled in the bios, and the integration tools were installed. In the past i have run XP and Win7 in VMs with great success on far less superior machines.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOn 4/19, I downloaded a game from wildtangent and my pc became extremely slow to the point of crashing because pages were taking so long to download. I unstalled the game (using Control Panel) on 4/21 and though uninstalled, still had the same problem. On 4/21, I attempted to use System Restore to restore my pc to a date before the game download BUT the earliest system restore point was actually 4/21, including my checking the box to "choose another restore point". Win XP would save restore points for one to two months prior, with Windows 7 it's anywhere from one to a few days and in this case, the same day. WinXP was the best of the Windows versions and Windows 7 has been nothing but problematic. My pc with Windows 7 is a year and a few months old and Windows 7 has been one problem after another. Restoring to factory settings will wipe out everything on my pc so is there a way to restore my pc to before 4/18/2012?

I did find a set of already made icons and they don't disappear when you move them to another computer, so there must be a trick to it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedOk so both of my desktop and laptop had Windows 7 64bit installed
My desktop is Q6600 2.4GHz 2.4Gb RAM
My laptop is Core 2 Core Intel 2.0GHz 4Gb RAM
Somehow my laptop load the game "Warcraft3 TFT" much faster than my desktop?
I've tried defragment my HD on desktop
By the way both systems are clean installed which I format everything to make it brand new (nothing really installed in the system except game and some random softwares)
I'm very tired of seeing this message booting me to desktop just to ask me if I want to change the color scheme because it perceives my computer is running slow. Load up Batman AC? 10 minutes in focus changes from said full-screen app to this completely unnecessary 'warning'. Battlefield 3? Same thing. Assassin's Creed? Same thing. Skyrim? Same thing.... I don't need Windows to tell me that my resources are being used when I know they are being used. Am I really going to have to go into Properties and Compatibility mode for every game I play? I have clicked that button so many times yet it continues to show! It specifically says "Keep the current color scheme and don't show this message again" Yet even after clicking said button it still shows...

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I install a game in Windows 7 and Windows recognizes it it dumps the game's shortcut in the Game folder of the Start Menu. That wouldn't be a problem except Windows 7 prevents the game from creating the shortcuts it would have created had the operating system not been Windows 7- things like the game's Read Me, Uninstaller & Configuration options.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought this Fujitsu laptop for less than a year. Its only for my school work. It takes forever to bootup, startup and it sometime hangs when I open up a program or typing. For the bootup, it takes very long time on the window logo, after that the black screen, followed by the welcome page with the loading cursor. Each of this process take a long time. For startup, its not so long but its still quite lag. For the opening up of program and typing, everytime I open up my visual studio, it will take a long time to show up and even if it showed up, it will be "not responding".So I will have to open it a second time before I can start using itWhen I am typing my codes, it will randomly hang and show that the program is not responding. I am still able to move my cursor though.

View 7 Replies View RelatedTom’s Hardware readers know all about overclocking, of course. In fact, many processor and graphics card reviews would be deemed incomplete without coverage of overclocking potential. Indeed, articles such as the System Builder Marathon series have a long history of specifically valuing performance achieved through overclocking rather than just through stock performance.
If you already consider yourself an enthusiast, pardon a bit of background here--we'll get into the nitty-gritty technical stuff in just a second.
What exactly is overclocking? In a nutshell, the term is used to describe running a component at a higher speed than its specification in an attempt to increase performance. Various computer components can be overclocked, including the processor, memory, and graphics card. And the degree of overclocking can include anything from simply procuring small gains from an inexpensive component all the way to seeking a level of performance way beyond what could even be purchased at that point in time.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter my Z68 Extreme 4 Motherboard died and I had to take out the processor to RMA it, I started considering upgrading. My Core i5 2500k is on ebay and I was going to buy a Core i7 2600k. However, now I am looking towards the Ivy Bridge Processors coming out in the New Year. Apparently they will use the same socket (1155), but the motherboard will need a Bios update. If I don't have a processor until I get the new one, how will I be able to upgrade the chipset so that the new processor will work with the motherboard?

I no longer have any Microsoft Works, or Microsoft Office for that matter, so I can't type besides on Notepad and I would rather not. View 2 Replies View RelatedAs you increase the number of processors the performance improvement diminishes compared with the expected result -- for instance a system with 8 processors won't perform 8 times faster than a system with one processor due to the ovehead of managing the extra complexity of the interaction of all the processors. (Note the system will still be FAST of course !!).
Now wouldn't it be better to design say 128 and 256 bit architectures in the OS so you could still run many tasks concurrently but without the overhead of the multi processor environment - or at least have far less processors in the MP environment.
it was rumoured a while back that Windows 8 would have some 128 bit possibility -- I don't think there are any commercially available chips yet but thats only a matter of time.
I have an issue with my system.
- ASUS M4N68T-M LE V2 MoBo
- Processor is AMD phenom II X4 965 Black Edition.
- One Stick of 2Gb memory DDR 3
- ATI Radeon 6870 Sapphire.
If I restart my system (and this happens like out of 100 restarts 97 times) the system would be on the black post screen and say that the CPU is not compatible with my mobo. Then in order to resolve this I have to got to BIOs and turn on all the cpu cores and the unleashing mode under CPU and restart. Then it would reflect that all the **4 cores are active** and then it would work fine. But why does this happen after every restart. I thought it was CMOS battery but the date and time and other BIOS settings are fine.
Wondering what processor is better equipped to stream and play HD video to an HDMI port... AMD E350 or Intel Atom? Im looking to purchase a mini pc to attached to my TV to play HD video with VLC and stream from the net. Currently I'm looking at Foxcon, Zotac and Asus Eee pc's.

I have a quad-core AMD Athlon II 640 Processor. I always figured I have all 4 cores running at the same time, but today I noticed in msconfig>boot>advanced>number of processors that the default number of processors is one. I've recently had a number of freezes, and wondered if i were to increase the number of processors, would my computer's behavior change at all?
