Windows 7 keeps crashing for me and I'm wanting to completely reformat my C: but I take it it's more or less the same as what I did to install Windows 7. Ie, boot up the install disk when I switch my laptop on and then just following the instructions again?

Can't Reformat The Windows 7

Mar 18, 2011

I already have windows 7 x64 edition installed on this computer. I'm trying to do a full reformat and delete everything and start fresh. When the computer starts, I hit F12 and try to boot from the disc. All it does is just go straight to the login screen and I'm back where I was before...with the old operating system.Tried switching the BIOS to boot from disc...nothing is working? It's just an endless loop I'm getting.Restart->F12->Boot from CD-> just continues to login screen.is there something different with windows 7? How to I reformat this thing?

How To Reformat Windows 7 From Usb

I have Windows 7 and no cd drive. Due to driver issues, I need to reformat. How do I do this using USB? Also, what about back-ups? Could I make a back up of my files and programs, how exactly does that work, I don't exactly want to defeat the purpose of the reformat though. I don't want to have to re-install everything, but there's nothing sensitive on this computer, so losing everything would be more of an inconvenience than a problem.

Does anyone know a good website to lead me through reformatting my C drive? I ran a registry scan that came up with 640 errors. I think all the problems I had with my defective RAM contributed to that? How do I make sure I have all the drivers I need and everything will work with a fresh install of Win7? All my media and documents are on the D drive, so I don't need to worry about that

Windows 7 Upgrade After Reformat?

Jul 24, 2011

I have been working with another tech in the spyware/malware forum to try and rid my computer of viruses and spyware/malware. We found that the main culprit was TDL 3 and have been able to successfully remove that, however the technician feels that my computer security has been comprimised and is recommending that I reformat the computer. I cannot find the Windows XP disc that I need to use to put Windows XP back on, but I have already purchased the Windows 7 upgrade. That was done before all the virus stuff and I was trying to fix all of that before I upgraded. I want to reformat my computer and Install Windows 7 but am worried it isn't going to work since I only have the upgrade purchase. I'm assuming from feedback from the other tech, the only way to completely rid the system of infections is to reformat.

Reformat And Reinstall Of Windows 7?

May 25, 2012

I just did a reformat and reinstall of Windows 7. During the installation process I noticed that there are two partitions other than the primary one: a recovery and an OEM partition. I already have a general idea of what both of these are used for. My question is: are these partitions vulnerable to infection?

Windows Is Slow Even After Reformat

Dec 9, 2011

My installation of Windows has been acting up lately, like it's insanely slow. I doubt it's a hardware issue since I just had Ubuntu 10.10 running on it a few days ago, flawlessly. I completely wiped the hard drive and installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. All of the hardware on the computer is less than 6 months old, but I really doubt that it is hardware related since Ubuntu ran perfectly. It keeps freezing up every like 15 seconds, but only when I'm using Firefox. I was also extracting a .rar with WinRAR and it was taking insanely long.

Windows 7 Reformat From Install Disk?

So I'm trying to reformat my HD, and I'm having quite the time doing so. I have borrowed and Windows 7 disk from a buddy of mine and was going to reformat my HD and then buy a key online, but here is my problem:

I put the disk into my DVD Drive and restart, I immediately go into BIOS and make sure that my DVD-RW drive is first choice in boot order, it is. Upon restarting, it just does a normal boot process, it doesn't give me the option to boot from disk.

How To Cleanly Reformat And Install Windows 7 PC

Anyways I have computer that I owned for a year now and have decided to reformat the computer due to some difficulties with it such as sluggish performance..windows processes getting stuck etc. and I have way to many programs to find out the root of the cause, but with the lack of experience on reformatting computers I may end up with errors in the end, I've searched up some forums like these as well on how to properly reformat a computer with windows 7 OS but just so I don't miss anything I would like to request if anyone has a Step by Step guide on how to do this. Also if you must know here are my PC specs and the software CDs drivers etc that I had when I was first setting up the pc.[CODE]

I used Partition Wizard 6.0 the last few times, but need some guidance now. So, I have:

- A used machine I want to wipe clean and then start from scratch, eventually allowing it to boot from the Windows 7 installation disk.

- Umpteen utilities besides Partition Wizard

How To Reformat, Repartition Etc For Reinstalling Windows 7

Jun 2, 2011

I have been able to do this, but it's been years and I forget.I used Partition Wizard 6.0 the last few times, but need some guidance now. So, I have:- A used machine I want to wipe clean and then start from scratch, eventuallyallowing it to boot from the Windows 7 installation disk.- Umpteen utilities besides Partition Wizard- A keen desire to have this happen while I'm still young(after trying some tips at another forum I thought I'd post here because):the laptop still will not boot from a known, good, Windows 7 installation disk, instead returning an error code: "CD BOOT: Cannot boot from CD - code 5".Granted, it is not a CD I try to boot from but a DVD, but I suppose that code covers both media. I would have my work cut out from me if I tried to cram 3 650 432 KB onto a CD, wouldn't I?The PC boots fine, however, from Hiren's Boot CD (Mini XP thereon runs fine, for what that's worth), GParted, and some other utility disks like those that I have.Where do I go from here? Am I destined to forever use this potentionally fine machine to play Solitaire off Hiren's Mini XP? Puhleeze - say it isn't so!PS: I tried some suggested leads at microsoft.com, but as usual got bogged down somewhere on the 2'nd or 3'rd page of the preamble to the actual solution to the problem at hand, and fell in a deep, nigthmare-ridden sleep from which I just awoke after 5 hours

Reformat And Fresh Reinstall Of Windows 7

I have a Lenovo ideaCenter K300 I bought in May. I want to reformat and reinstall in order to get a "factory-fresh" install of Windows 7. So far I have tried building a system repair disc. Other tutorials [here] said it would take 7 CDs, this only took one so I'm not sure I did the right thing. I restarted and ran the disc, it only looks to be a bunch of repair utilities.

Reinstall Windows 7 X64 Professional And Reformat RAID1

Mar 15, 2010

I'm currently have 1 SSD for OS and 2 HDD in RAID1 for data, all connected to the same Intel controller on my EVGA X58 3x SLI motherboard. I'm planning to re-install Windows 7 x64 Pro on the SSD. While doing this, I would also like to reformat the 2 RAIDed HDD's. What are the steps that I need in order to reformat the RAID1?

My SATA mode is set to AHCI at the moment. If I set the SATA mode to RAID and I boot to Windows, I'll get BSOD after the Windows logo screen. I'm not having Intel Matrix Storage Manager installed. The last time I did so on my current OS (also Win 7 x64 Pro), I got some weird chkdsk error, in which I was given thousands of "Replacing invalid security id with default id ..." for files on the RAIDed drive.

I'm planning to reuse the same 2 HDD's for RAID1 after the reinstallation. I've already copied the current data on the RAIDed disks to some external USB source.

Display Drivers Not Installing After Reformat Of Windows 7?

Sep 3, 2012

new to these forums as I have run into a recent problem with my display drivers. To start I am running:[CODE]I recently reformatted Windows 7 and now when I try to update either my Intel or Nvidia card, they both fail. The Intel update will most often say that my computer is not compatible, or that it simply fails. On the nvidia update I get the classic "Nvidia Installer failed" after trying both Express, Custom, and clean installs. In my first attempt at this I uninstalled my drivers and then tried installing, even in safe mode, and I could never get it to work. I did another install of windows in another attempt to restart the process but still no solution worked. I have browsed forums for about a day or two now and still have not found a viable option. The games I play do not open and usually crash after their first loading screen, however after I uninstalled the Nvidia drivers I was able to open the games at a low performance on the intel card, which leads me to think this Nvidia bug is the problem.

It is probably important to note that this was the first time I had reformatted since the laptop was purchased about a year ago, and that I also did it in a different format that I wasn't even really sure about doing. Rather than using the Windows install disc that came with the laptop (it is of course misplaced), I used the Windows Restore to go back to factory settings. I'm not sure if this may have played a role, but I am all out of ideas.

Unable To Reformat Computer After Upgrade To Windows 7?

I really REALLY need to get this thing reformatted. I tried using the upgrade disk and now when I reboot it tries to upgrade Windows...which is turning into an all night process.

How To Reformat Vista 32bit By Windows 7 64bit

Jan 28, 2012

I have a laptop with a windows vista 32 bit OS and I want to change it to windows 7. But the dumb part was, I bought a window 7 premium upgrade version without knowing that it was a 64 bit. When I tried to run it, or even made it as an initial boot sequence, my OS did not recognized the cd. Is there something i can do to format my laptop, using only the cd I bought? The only cd's I could use were my xp home premium (which was the original OS of my laptop, because some IT formatted it before and changed it to vista 32 bit and made some full clean on my drives, deleting even my recovery files) and the window 7 premium 64 bit...
