I have a Lenovo ideaCenter K300 I bought in May. I want to reformat and reinstall in order to get a "factory-fresh" install of Windows 7. So far I have tried building a system repair disc. Other tutorials [here] said it would take 7 CDs, this only took one so I'm not sure I did the right thing. I restarted and ran the disc, it only looks to be a bunch of repair utilities.
View 6 RepliesI have been getting frequent BSOD's on my 18 month old Dell XPS 17 L701x laptop, so I completely wiped the hard drive and reinstalled windows 7 on it. However the BSOD still persists. The error message given states, 'STOP Error0x000000D1:DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL'. I am running Windows 7 home premium 64bit OEM. I will attach the dump files to this post.

After running the computer for about a year, with all updated drivers and such, BSODs starts to occur. At first, I assume it was a virus (had avast before); so I decided to fully reformat the hard drive with Windows 7 x64 Ultimate again. I remember reading the BSOD screen, and sometimes they had different error codes. Strangely, sometimes my hard drive would not be detected until I had to restart many times until a successful detection for the SSD would occur.So I reformatted, however; in the process of installing my first driver (Nvidia for GTX 560), I got a BSOD. Giving up hope, I decided to come here and report the problem. After that I just installed several drivers but not all.
I just did a reformat and reinstall of Windows 7. During the installation process I noticed that there are two partitions other than the primary one: a recovery and an OEM partition. I already have a general idea of what both of these are used for. My question is: are these partitions vulnerable to infection?

I'm planning to re-install Windows 7 x64 Pro on the SSD. While doing this, I would also like to reformat the 2 RAIDed HDD's. What are the steps that I need in order to reformat the RAID1?
My SATA mode is set to AHCI at the moment. If I set the SATA mode to RAID and I boot to Windows, I'll get BSOD after the Windows logo screen. I'm not having Intel Matrix Storage Manager installed. The last time I did so on my current OS (also Win 7 x64 Pro), I got some weird chkdsk error, in which I was given thousands of "Replacing invalid security id with default id ..." for files on the RAIDed drive.
I'm planning to reuse the same 2 HDD's for RAID1 after the reinstallation. I've already copied the current data on the RAIDed disks to some external USB source.
My laptop didn't come with an OS disk. I have 56GB out of 250, and honestly I don't know where it all went. Is there any way to reinstall without a disk? I'm not too big into torrenting things like this, but if its the only way I guess I would have to.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI reinstalled windows yesterday cause sql server 2008 gave me hard time (i couldnt remove it entirely)...before that, system was working for like 2 years...Also, one of the reason is often crashes and bsods in game Tribes Ascend...So yesterday i installed some drivers on fresh windows, some programs etc and everything was ok...then on second run, Tribes crashed and i knew at that point that the problem is hardware...Couple of minutes ago i started new counter strike, got bsod and i said **** it...if you guys pinpoint the problem, if not i'll have to buy new machine soon...

I am attempting to install a fresh copy of Windows 7 on my laptop and am having multiple problems.The HDD is formatted completely empty.
1. When attempting to use the Reinstallation DVD from Dell, the DVD boots and the progress bar moves that says "Windows is loading files," then the computer restarts and it is stuck in an infinite loop.
2. When attempting to use a copy of Windows 7 on a USB drive, the drive boots up until you see the cursor to begin the reinstallation process, then the computer restarts and it is stuck in an infinite loop.
3. When attempting to use a Windows XP DVD, it starts the setup process, and then I get error: STOP: 0X0000007B (0XF78D2524, 0XC0000034, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)
I have been able to boot command line Linux distros (haven't tried any graphical distros) without any problems. Dell instructed me to run diagnostics on everything, and everything passed, so it doesn't seem like there are any apparent hardware issues. I tried pulling the battery and just using the power cord and also removing one of the sticks of RAM and attempting installation, but I have the same problems.

I can download and install winamp(latest version)but when i hit finish i am told that winamp has stopped to function properly,and i re-installed windows just yesterday,i do not get it,and i have not made any changes with fancy software.Winamp and my windows 7 has never had a good relationship,but it used to run on a fresh re-install,
View 5 Replies View RelatedI re-installed my copy of windows 7 Home Premium, went to HP's website and installed the drivers I thought were needed. My network controller still displays the little yellow triangle. Wireless doesn't work at all, and wired just says "internet unavailable" (something along those lines) and has the yellow triangle next to it. I tried re-installing the network controller drivers but it seems they are installed because it just asks if I would like to uninstall or repair. Heres the page I downloaded drivers from. All the links seem to take me to the same drivers, I believe my model is HP ENVY 14t-1000. Tried downloading the drivers for HP ENVY 14t-1000 CTO Notebook PC, and HP ENVY 14-1000xx Notebook PC so far no luck.

When the computer starts, I hit F12 and try to boot from the disc. All it does is just go straight to the login screen and I'm back where I was before...with the old operating system.Tried switching the BIOS to boot from disc...nothing is working? We found that the main culprit was TDL 3 and have been able to successfully remove that, however the technician feels that my computer security has been comprimised and is recommending that I reformat the computer. I cannot find the Windows XP disc that I need to use to put Windows XP back on, but I have already purchased the Windows 7 upgrade. That was done before all the virus stuff and I was trying to fix all of that before I upgraded. I want to reformat my computer and Install Windows 7 but am worried it isn't going to work since I only have the upgrade purchase. I'm assuming from feedback from the other tech, the only way to completely rid the system of infections is to reformat.

I doubt it's a hardware issue since I just had Ubuntu 10.10 running on it a few days ago, flawlessly. I completely wiped the hard drive and installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. All of the hardware on the computer is less than 6 months old, but I really doubt that it is hardware related since Ubuntu ran perfectly.It keeps freezing up every like 15 seconds, but only when I'm using Firefox. View 6 Replies View RelatedSo I'm trying to reformat my HD, and I'm having quite the time doing so. I have borrowed and Windows 7 disk from a buddy of mine and was going to reformat my HD and then buy a key online, but here is my problem:
I put the disk into my DVD Drive and restart, I immediately go into BIOS and make sure that my DVD-RW drive is first choice in boot order, it is. Upon restarting, it just does a normal boot process, it doesn't give me the option to boot from disk.
Anyways I have computer that I owned for a year now and have decided to reformat the computer due to some difficulties with it such as sluggish performance..windows processes getting stuck etc. and I have way to many programs to find out the root of the cause, but with the lack of experience on reformatting computers I may end up with errors in the end, I've searched up some forums like these as well on how to properly reformat a computer with windows 7 OS but just so I don't miss anything I would like to request if anyone has a Step by Step guide on how to do this. I just bought a new dell pc running windows 7 which is my first experience with it, however my computer only came with a Drivers and utilities disc. Is 7 not like xp where you use a disc or did my pc just not come with it?
