Over the last three days I have experienced a dramatic slowdown in the performance of Spider Solitaire and Solitaire on my W7 machine. Dragging cards used to be in real time and now lags by about 15 seconds.

I was reading abit about this problem on google and saw a person telling another one that was having the same problem as me that a PSU could heat up your GPU if it is just under your GPU.. - My PSU is not far from my GPU and the fan on my PSU is almost just up against my GPU so i kinda wonder can a PSU really heat up my GPU that much?My cousin got a very tiny case for his pc, he got a gtx 560ti and hits 65 - 70 celcius and goes 50fps in stormwind with 60+ players around him and 200 - 250fps outside stormwind. in stormwind i got 20 fps and in world i got 60 - 100 fps. I got a Evga GTX 580 1534MB myself and should be alot better then the gtx 560TI.. He also runs 20 - 30 fps higher then me in Guild wars (60 - 90fps) i am running 30 - 50fps..
when I downloaded the Torchlight 2 demo from Steam and started playing it on max settings. Lo and behold, I only got 13fps while playing the game Which is weird because I'm able to hit ~25fps playing Crysis 2 on max (a game with much higher sysytem requirements) After more observation since then, I've noticed that my laptop in general has slowed down a bit the mouse movement isn't as smooth, apps don't load as fast, and the system in general doesn't respond as quick as before.So finally, I decided to benchmark my system again running Crysis 2 on max. Luckily, I bench-marked it two weeks ago using Fraps and got this result on max settings: Ultra Detail; DX11; High-Res Textures Min, Max, Avg 16, 31, 22.398..But just now when I bench-marked the game again - at the exact same part of the game I played.That's a 60% drop in FPS, which makes me positive that there's something wrong with my laptop but I have no idea where to start diagnosing this problem My system specs are in my profile.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've just started playing a game (the Witcher Enhanced Edition) and the performance is terrible. I might get 3 or 4 secs of action then it stops completely for about a second. In short it is unplayable. I've noticed the same on other games (games are probably the only time I really test my system,) If I had a low powered system this would be understandable but I do not. Indeed the same games run acceptably on my old XL laptop and my mother's low spec Windows 7 system.

All the drivers are bang up to date as is W7. Because of the problems I've created a dedicated games boot. Aero is switched off, No Anti-Virus SW. No unnecessary programs. This was a new build of W7-64. This improves things only a little - it is still unplayable. Since the problem was noted I've ungraded my Graphics, to no effect. I'm not being over fussy - it really makes gameplay impossible.
I have recently installed Windows 7 RC and was happily using the recent items to access a particular mp3 I use often. Now, for some reason, Recent Items on the Start Menu only seems to display links to documents and saved web pages. It will not store the mp3 I use or any piece of music for that matter. I'm assuming it won't display media items in general.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having problems with extreme slowdown when ever i do pretty much anything from right clicking to opening a window, it has also been freezing randomly every 4-5 sec's and sometimes blue screening. Often when it freezes it get a pop up saying, Shockwave flash has crashed. I've also recently been having what i assume are ad popping up on random words. Like it looks like a link and it just show's a popup when i mouse over. I have ran a scan of my computer and have cleared my cache and nothing has worked.

I have a HP G series notebook and as of last Thursday I started getting insane amounts of slowdown. Even in the lock screen where I type my password in has lag. After a day of this I shut off my computer for several hours and performed a full virus scan with Malware Bytes and nothing was found. Soon after that my Laptop started to crash. I Re-booted several times and the problem persists. Ill log in (slowly) and access any program but within 5-10 minutes the PC will lock up. I truly have zero idea how this happened. I haven't installed, downloaded or added any sort of software program or files recently. I haven't dropped, wet or damage my laptop recently either. The last thing I did before all this happened was I synced my Xbox 360 to my Windows Media Center and Windows Media Player so I could listen to music while I play. After all the craziness started happening I deleted all my music from the media center and turned off the syncing function but the problems escalated from there.

After a couple of days, the computer will work for a couple of minutes, then DRASTIC SLOWDOWN that makes the computer unusuable. When I went to install each OS, even that was slow (I.E.) the install windows were slow to come up.. I suspect hard drive failure.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy system has recently developed an annoying problem which is causing me some concern as it could indicate something serious.Quite often when it boots up, there is instead of the properly functioning sound, a continuous high pitched whine. This goes away when I reboot. Sometimes though, this issue arises during games or other general use.If this happens when the system is running, not just the whining sound is there, but also any 3D or video graphics slow down a lot.I have attempted to remedy this by removing and replacing the soundcard and an uninstall/reinstall of the drivers. Unfortunately with no affect as regards removing the problem or it's cause.Outside of these times everything runs as it should and the sound functions perfectly both through the speakers and headphones connected via the front panel box supplied with this XF-fi series card.I am thinking about a full re-intallation of the O.S if nothing else works.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've had the computer for about a year, a custom build...it's been working fine, then all of a sudden the problem started & now I'm suffering serious lag & slow down even with the most simple tasks (like clicking on the start icon) the HDD light is on continually & I can hear the drive clicking away. It never stops. (Starts when the windows loading screen comes on)Boot time is also incredibly slow around 10 minutes to boot up.I've just done a clean install of Windows 7 pro x 64 and the problem still persists...no other software installed other than my graphics & sound card drivers.The workstation isn't connected to the net I use a laptop for all that/this.On Task Manager my CPU is 0% & my Memory 6% which is fine..The drive is a Seagate Barracuda 500gb 7,200 SATA II.The programs causing this are mostly with-in "System" & SVChost" processes on the HDD.

I have read many threads about these type of problems but with never any clarification.I've got a ton of work to do...and I cant even open control panel under 1 minute right now.
After running tf2 for the first time in a while I discovered that it was running slower than it normally does and noticed it happens only when I move the mouse, without moving the mouse I sit at around 150fps, when I do it goes down to basically 1fps,I tried this on CSS and it happened again, so I tried a Call of Duty Black Ops Multi + Zombie and there was no problems at all, so then I tried on Trackmania Nations Forever and it happens on that game.I have tried un-installing mouse drivers then replugging the mouse, a recent system restore point and had no luck?
View 17 Replies View RelatedI've been having problems with windows journal when a note file reaches 2mb or more. I use an (older) tablet pc with a core duo CPU running Windows Home Edition and I wonder whether this may be the problem as upgrading my RAM to 4GB didn't help at all. One way around this would be to have smaller files with different chunks of the data (diagrams and hand written notes) but I would have thought a 2mb file wouldn't cause such problems. I've been considering upgrading to a brand new tablet but if the problem is with the software then I don't see much point yet.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter installing some desktop customization programs for Windows 7, I noticed that my games run with lower framerates. I also notice that things are loading up a little slower, and when I drag a selection box on my desktop, it's very laggy. I just built this computer about a month ago, and it's meant to be a gaming computer.
My general specs are:
- AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition Processor - 3.2 GHz
- 4 GBs of DDR3 RAM & 1600Mhz
- Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
- My graphics card is a PowerColor AX6850 Radeon HD 6850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5
I uninstalled the two programs (Rainmeter and Fences), restarted my system a couple of times, disabled various startup items and services, uninstalled some unnecessary programs, ran a virus scan with Malware Bytes and Spybot Search & Destroy, ran CCleaner, and I am still facing this slow down. My CPU temperatures are also staying at 20C to 25C, so that shouldn't be the issue. Could windows be running an index or something in the background? Or is there a conflict with the operating system after using these desktop customization tools?
The autostart function is not working properly. When introduced a CD Rom into the drive, it has all the autostart functions for movies, pics, documents, but instead of starting the games directly, It allways ask me to open the file, movies or pics, but the game never starts automatically as It used to do in the past Windows versions, and in Windows 7 BEFORE SP1. It's imposible to play games that require the insertion of the disc into the CD Rom Drive, for the same reason.Im running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and have a LG Super Multi RwDVD +R DL Light scribe multirecorder.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI enjoy windows 7, and I love the new jumplist feature. Problem is, in order to use it I have to enable the "Store and display recently opened items in the start menu and taskbar".
I can pin folders that I frequently visit, and the same goes for just about anything else - I do NOT want to see the recent files, websites, or folders that I have visited. If I disable it completely though, it completely destroys the ability to use custom jumplists.
Steam has a very cool jumplist feature, I'm able to change my status on it, pin favorite games to it, as well as open specific tabs. The program "Jumplist Launcher" also lets me create categories to use for programs and games, and I love it.
In order to use all that however, I have to enable recent items. Those items clutter the crap out of my jumplists and they're annoying to clear, so I'm wondering if anybody knows how I can completely disable the ability to see these. Can anything be done other than simply deleting everything in the recent items folder?

View 3 Replies View Relatedok so i have a problem thats been driving me insane. my toshiba F50 was working totally fine until suddenly during games my GPU started overheating quickly during games (Was not doing this before) i noticed that my fan didnt seem to be spinning as fast as before. i cleaned it still no avail, tried riva tuner and ntune and all of that jazz and all of them have the fan control options greyed out? (cannot use them)i noticed that when i start the laptop the POST test on the fans guns the fan to 100% speed so i know its capable of doing it. it seems like the fan doesnt know to speed up when it gets hot and it keeps shutting my system down and i reallllly dont feel like damaging my GPU. i tried rolling back my drivers and running the latest drivers.

So what I mean is, if I open a document called "private documents.pdf" for example, then close it, anyone could do a simple broad search for pdf's on your computer, and it would find "private documents.pdf" in the "recent items" folder...

On the 6th, and last disc I was told that it didn't properly close the session. 3 days ago something happened, while using Unlocker program to delete malware. My 2 user accounts would not open, until after I opened my admin account. So I decided to do a factory restore. I skipped the backup HDD, since I had just completed one the day before, and didn't was to chance backing up malware.After the factory restore completed, all was working ok. But when I tried to restore my HDD backup, the system said it was looking for a backup of May 15, 2011. I doesn't recognize my backup of 4 days ago.Is there any way possible to get Win 7 to accept the most recent backup??

As the title says, there is one application that just won't show the list no matter how many times I click on the triangle. However, other applications DO show that list. I'm probably going to check some prices on SSD's locally later today and pick one up since it turns out the brand I was using isn't very reliable (OCZ Agility 2 60 gig - lasted 3.5 months). Assuming I do pick up a new boot drive how should I proceed? Should I install Windows on my HDD then restore the image to the new SSD or should I install Windows to the SSD and just restore everything but Windows? Or should I be doing something totally different?
