I have recently had a problem where my computer slows down so much it wont start programs up or even shut-down. It is usually after starting games like counter-strike source and such up.

I've had the computer for about a year, a custom build...it's been working fine, then all of a sudden the problem started & now I'm suffering serious lag & slow down even with the most simple tasks (like clicking on the start icon) the HDD light is on continually & I can hear the drive clicking away. It never stops. (Starts when the windows loading screen comes on)Boot time is also incredibly slow around 10 minutes to boot up.I've just done a clean install of Windows 7 pro x 64 and the problem still persists...no other software installed other than my graphics & sound card drivers.The workstation isn't connected to the net I use a laptop for all that/this.On Task Manager my CPU is 0% & my Memory 6% which is fine..The drive is a Seagate Barracuda 500gb 7,200 SATA II.The programs causing this are mostly with-in "System" & SVChost" processes on the HDD.
For example:
Windows service profile
RtBackup
NTFS free space map
NTFS master file table
Winevt logs
I have read many threads about these type of problems but with never any clarification.I've got a ton of work to do...and I cant even open control panel under 1 minute right now.
Over the last three days I have experienced a dramatic slowdown in the performance of Spider Solitaire and Solitaire on my W7 machine. Dragging cards used to be in real time and now lags by about 15 seconds.

I was playing Civ 5 all night long just the night before and played Borderlands like 2 days ago and I didn't encounter any problems.Right now, whenever I run a DX9-11 game, it just shutdowns my computer either after a few minutes loading or while loading. (Tried with Borderlands,ANNO2070, Kingdom of Amalur, Civ 5) It does not crash when I only surf on the net or play some flash games (ie. Dofus)[CODE]

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe problem started yesterday while I tried to run Counter-Strike Global Offensive by launching it with the ESEA client and got a BSOD.At first I thought it was a CS:GO related problem as the game is relatively new and there were GPU problems in the past when the game was beta (I have a NVIDIA GTX560M on a Qosmio x775).
Following forums I figured I may have to flash BIOS and update graphics card drivers. However, despite these updates I kept BSOD'ing every time while trying to launch the game.Taking my research further I realized the computer would crash while starting ANY game. Even opening the NVIDIA client to change 3d settings led to a BSOD. After a lot of frustration and futile updates, I thought perhaps it was an overheating issue and left the laptop off for the night with all USB ports unplugged.I really need to know what is going on as I haven't the faintest clue. I've attached a diagnostic error report of one of the crashes (there have been many) and I am willing to provide any extra information just as long as I get some responses!
I recently reinstalled Windows 7 Proffecional 64bit on my computer. I was having several problems prior to doing so including explorer.exe crashing on startup, very slow start up, and my recovery drive was repeatedly reformatted to a RAW partition. All these problems got resolved with a reinstall but were replaced by a new problem.
The reinstall I used left my personal files and programs intact. Now whenever I run a game, any game I run into the same problem. What happens is the game starts up fine with no problems, but when I perform certain actions (e.g. Battlefield 3 � if I fire my weapon it will trigger a freeze, Arkham City � throwing a punch or using a gadget will trigger a freeze etc) the game will freeze up but the sound will continue playing. I can use Ctrl, Alt,Delete to start up the task manager and end the process. This closes the game but the process hangs as it is and cannot be stopped, even though the computer carries on functioning fine. I can even start a different game but the difference is the game won�t crash or freeze anymore. It seems as through if one game crashes it somehow stops it happening again to other games.
On a side note I do not get any errors if I disable Windows Audio Service in MSConfig for start-up services. The fixes I have tried include: Running in safemode �for Windows 7 and for individual games Running the games in DX9, DX10, DX10.1 and DX11 Running with CPU overclocked and without overclocking Running with GPU overclocked and without overclocking I have tried increasing Virtual Memory (currently at 50GB)I have tried a few specific fixes for individual games I have also tried with Crossfire enabled and disabled Updating all drivers, Updating the BIOS and Installing Win 7 updates
I tried all these fixes to no avail, the only thing that resolved the issue was disabling the Windows Audio Service, however this leaves me with no sound at all. I have no idea what do try next or what could be causing the problem and I need help. At this point I am willing to try just about anything.

I get the BSOD mainly when starting games, such as Eve Online or Call of Duty 3, using Steam, but I have also got it while reading email in Outlook in between typing in MS Word and using Firefox.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have got a 64-bit processor and am running home premium 64-it, however i am getting anoyed with some of the old software, and also some games (generaly old ones) not working properly or not starting. I was supplied with a 32 bit version of windows and was wondering whether this software would work if i was running a 32 bit copy of windows or is it the fact that i have a 64 bit processor the thing that makes running the software. I am a bir of a novice at this kind of area but not completly illiterate when it comes to using a computer. Would dual booting be the solution, i don't want to have to wipe the hard drive and would like to keep the 64 bit versions as the main boot. Would insalling on an external hard drive be a good solution.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having problems with extreme slowdown when ever i do pretty much anything from right clicking to opening a window, it has also been freezing randomly every 4-5 sec's and sometimes blue screening. Often when it freezes it get a pop up saying, Shockwave flash has crashed. I've also recently been having what i assume are ad popping up on random words. Like it looks like a link and it just show's a popup when i mouse over. I have ran a scan of my computer and have cleared my cache and nothing has worked.

I have a HP G series notebook and as of last Thursday I started getting insane amounts of slowdown. Even in the lock screen where I type my password in has lag. After a day of this I shut off my computer for several hours and performed a full virus scan with Malware Bytes and nothing was found. Soon after that my Laptop started to crash. I Re-booted several times and the problem persists. Ill log in (slowly) and access any program but within 5-10 minutes the PC will lock up. I truly have zero idea how this happened. I haven't installed, downloaded or added any sort of software program or files recently. I haven't dropped, wet or damage my laptop recently either. The last thing I did before all this happened was I synced my Xbox 360 to my Windows Media Center and Windows Media Player so I could listen to music while I play. After all the craziness started happening I deleted all my music from the media center and turned off the syncing function but the problems escalated from there.

After a couple of days, the computer will work for a couple of minutes, then DRASTIC SLOWDOWN that makes the computer unusuable. When I went to install each OS, even that was slow (I.E.) the install windows were slow to come up.. I suspect hard drive failure.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy system has recently developed an annoying problem which is causing me some concern as it could indicate something serious.Quite often when it boots up, there is instead of the properly functioning sound, a continuous high pitched whine. This goes away when I reboot. Sometimes though, this issue arises during games or other general use.If this happens when the system is running, not just the whining sound is there, but also any 3D or video graphics slow down a lot.I have attempted to remedy this by removing and replacing the soundcard and an uninstall/reinstall of the drivers. Unfortunately with no affect as regards removing the problem or it's cause.Outside of these times everything runs as it should and the sound functions perfectly both through the speakers and headphones connected via the front panel box supplied with this XF-fi series card.I am thinking about a full re-intallation of the O.S if nothing else works.

The lights inside my pc are all on so i know there is power going through it but when i press start button it wont turn on so i took my pc removed everything cleaned and refit but the PC wont start the white light thats supposed to come on the POWER ON button isnt glowing but there are other lights inside pc that are on so wht is the problem?

On the back of the computer (where you plug in the power cable) theres a green light thats blinking. Not sure if that has something to do with it?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been having problems with windows journal when a note file reaches 2mb or more. I use an (older) tablet pc with a core duo CPU running Windows Home Edition and I wonder whether this may be the problem as upgrading my RAM to 4GB didn't help at all. One way around this would be to have smaller files with different chunks of the data (diagrams and hand written notes) but I would have thought a 2mb file wouldn't cause such problems. I've been considering upgrading to a brand new tablet but if the problem is with the software then I don't see much point yet.

My computer mid use was starting to seriously lag and when I restarted it it began the dreaded system repair system restore loop. It tries to repair itself again and again and then says it can't and asks if you want to shut it down. This has happened once before and it took me forever looking thru forums to find the solution. I just can't remember what I did. I wanna say I did something with a command line. I don't have a windows disc. And I don't believe I did a complete factory reset the last time either.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron N7070 icore 5 laptop (17" screen) that I've had for about 10 months. Within the last 2-3 weeks, the computer started having problems starting. At first it happened a couple of times but after kicking into Startup repair (which itself never has repaired the issue) and shutting it down via on/off button, it would eventually come back up. Then it just froze and wouldn't start at all in my home environment. My brother works in IT for an organization and I asked him to take a look at it which he did. He first restored it to it's original state through the Dell Backup program at his house but when I brought it back to my house it immediately froze in the same way (the process starts but just gets hung up). I had an older router (G series) and he suspected that the problem might be related to that but when I got a new router (n series) the same thing happened when he repeated a restore process and brought it back to my house. It did actually reach the user choices a couple times but froze from there when trying to connect to the wireless system. Next he restored it again but this time used a restore image program (Acronis True Image 2012)and once again it worked perfectly at his place. We first took it to a different environment (Panera) to try to do a wireless connect but it got hung up there before it could connect. We did another restore image via Acronis and it worked fine in the Panera.However, when I took it home immediately afterward, it once again got hung up after starting and I had to do another restore image with the Acronis and it worked like a charm after that. When I turned it on this morning, it froze once again while starting and I once again proceeded to do another restore image with the Acronis program and it worked fine. What is going on here....why does it keep freezing in different environment or after certain durations of time? Is there some problem with Windows 7 when it initially tries to connect or is it something else perhaps corruption in the drivers? I also should state that we ran Malware Bytes and it was clean after it was restored. In addition, I should also mention that almost from the beginning this laptop had a tendency to freeze at certain times usually if left unattended for awhile (while still on) or when put in sleep or hibernation mode but until recently (as stated above) it never froze when starting up. Could there be a connection between all these glitches noticed from the start?

View 4 Replies View RelatedRecently my computer (HP Pavilion Slimline s7700e PC, running Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit) has been starting with two short beeps; lower in tone than previously... the first beep a little lower in tone than the second. The tone repeats itself one more time.
A couple of weeks ago the computer was making beeps that signaled a memory error, so we removed and replaced the memory modules and the computer booted up again, but with the new tones. It's been running fine since.
This morning I attempted to turn the computer on and nothing happened. I went and booted up my laptop to check my email, and while I was doing so the desktop computer suddenly came alive, with the same two lower-toned beeps has been the norm lately.
I am having an issue with my laptop.It keeps starting back all the time and I have windows 7 ultimate 32 bit. I can't have access to safe mode, when I try safe boot repair it won't work either. When I try to start back from the last time it was ok, don't work either. I tried downloading something named AVG rescue cd and it doesn't seem to work either....my computer doesn't seem to wanna read CD's or DVD's.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter installing some desktop customization programs for Windows 7, I noticed that my games run with lower framerates. I also notice that things are loading up a little slower, and when I drag a selection box on my desktop, it's very laggy. I just built this computer about a month ago, and it's meant to be a gaming computer.
My general specs are:
- AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition Processor - 3.2 GHz
- 4 GBs of DDR3 RAM & 1600Mhz
- Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
- My graphics card is a PowerColor AX6850 Radeon HD 6850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5
I uninstalled the two programs (Rainmeter and Fences), restarted my system a couple of times, disabled various startup items and services, uninstalled some unnecessary programs, ran a virus scan with Malware Bytes and Spybot Search & Destroy, ran CCleaner, and I am still facing this slow down. My CPU temperatures are also staying at 20C to 25C, so that shouldn't be the issue. Could windows be running an index or something in the background? Or is there a conflict with the operating system after using these desktop customization tools?

Everytime I try to start my computer a BSOD appears after the window logo with "STOP: C0000135 The program can�t start because %hs is missing. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." I have tried booting through safe mode and all the modes listed when pressing F8 when starting the computer. None of the boot properly. All I get is a BSOD and computer shuts off and restarts.

Then I asked a computer guy on STEAM and he said to try a fresh install of windows, but I already have windows 7 Home premium from the (irl)store.After trying to update the BIOS I've only failed, I've failed and failed.This happens on DiRT Showdown too, and Call OF duty Blackops 2.
