I just want to make this post to help others with the AWUS036H (Alfa) card from Data Alliance.
It's also known as the Realtek 8187 or Realtek 8187b
I have had consistent problems with this card under 64bit Windows 7 for a long long time (ever since Windows 7 betas came out) and I've finally found a driver for it which works for the first time.
It was blue screening with an RTL8187B.SYS error all the time, no matter what damn driver I tried.
(oddly enough when I plug the same card in to my Acer Laptop, it works totally fine and uses RTL8187.sys - despite it too being Windows 7 64bit?)

Realtek R2.16 X-Fi mod driver
Driver works on ALL Realtek HDA Codecs.
I'm currently running Windows XP and it doesn't have any problem with the network(realtek Lan). I never ever install Driver for Realtek Lan, I only install Realtek Audio driver which using XP. But Windows 7 seems to install Lan driver by itself. And when I try to access my network in Windows 7, things hangup, only way is to hard reset(restart). I tried to uninstall that driver also but then I could not access my network. I also tried latest driver for the same, but when installing it hang. Can anybody tell me how to overcome this problem. By the way I have Windows 7 Enterprice(30 Days trial).View 4 Replies View Related
For the most part Windows 7 has been running ok so far on my computer. The only issue that has me puzzled is my Realtek RTL8168C(P)8111C(P) Family PCI-E GBE NIC (onboard) just disappears after a reboot or a shutdown. I have to power the system totally down just to get it back.
I have updated to the lastest driver ( 1/20/2009 from Realtek.) Windows update tells me I have the latest driver installed. I also have tried disabling the power managemant and the driver still "disappeared" in Device Manager. I have IPV6 disabled as well.
Since my computer is fairly new and Vista Ready.. I thought I would try the driver that came on the motherboard install CD and same result. I am using a linksys USB wireless adapter and suprisingly it has proven to be more stable then my onboard Realtek. Not a major issue just a puzzle I would like to solve.
I am puzzled why Windows 7 is refusing to install a newer Realtek driver version for my net card. Using the device manager's driver update I currently have version 7.2.1127.2008 installed
the new driver is:
7.009.1105.2009 (inf info) translates into 7.9.1105.2009 (me thinks)
pointing the driver update to this newer driver tells "the installed driver is up to date"?
what am I doing wrong?
When I install Windows 7 64 bit, they have a MS driver for my HD audio, I am wondering if I should install the Realtek drivers provided by Gigabyte? tia BTW, sound seems to work fine with MS driver.View 5 Replies View Related

I have just installed a new HDD. I know have no sound. I know that the mobo sound device is Realtek but their site is a nightmare. I remember having to download a sound driver fro Vista but that it has a win 7 fix in it. I think it was the ac97 driver but I cant remember where I got it from.
Everytime I think I have found it, it turns out to be a driver scan application that i have to pay for!!
Does anybody know where i can get the driver I need from?

I can get to the internet with limited (to almost none) connectivity. I can get onto world-of-warcraft and get 60 fps for hours on end with no lag at all, I can have bit-torrent running for hours with no issues, however when I try to browse internet pages it just doesn't connect, and quickly too..like it can't resolve dns or something - not like it's waiting for a response from some site out there (the error message comes up immediatly.
I tried this on firefox too and same thing. I disabled ipvx6 and to no avail. I tried using opendns, and that was no help. I am using a router but my other computers hooked up to it (xp) don't have any problems. On the other end of this, I can't find any drivers for Windows 7 from realtek. The vista 64 won't install (says this driver is only for vista) and the xp64 won't install (says can't install this driver on vista).
Windows 7 reject/unable to install realtek ac'97 for VIA audio driver. How to solve this problem?View 3 Replies View Related
So I was playing Cod 4, had plenty of problems getting it to work, one of the problems was that I had to have the Mic plugged in to open the game, seriously the biggest wtf I've had.
But now I got another fresh problem. The game kept on crashing, I checked out what the problem was, and sure as hell, it was the sound card driver.
So I used some guide, uninstalled the driver I had, and downloaded the newest Realtek driver, that's supposed to support Windows 7, although when I try to install the driver er get..
"Windows can't verify the publisher of this driver software", no matter how often I press "Install this driver software anyway" it keeps on poping up!!
How can I bypass this problem, or solve it?
I am new to sevenforums and i have a big problem installing my sound driver.I have onboard realtek ac'97 and i have just switched to windows 7 build 7600.The problem is that my sound driver is not getting recognized.
i have tried all the ways.i installed my old driver as well as the new one from the reltek website(6305_Vista_Win7_PG537) but nothing seems to work. i have till now reinstalled Windows 7 3 times and installed 4 different drivers. i've tried all combinations of compatibility mode but at no avail. my motherboard is from zx-1945.
so this question might have been answered for some but i've been reading the threads and have tried other's working solutions and they have not worked for me.I recently moved my whole system to a new case ( a full tower vs mid) and everything was peachy until i notice no internet. at first i think ok i'll just re-download the lan driver via MSI cd. I put it in and all the drivers are colored and clickable except the lan one, crap, not sure why.. but i try downloading the driver via another computer and put it on external hard drive and install it from there. well it worked until a pop up comes up that says "The Realtek Network Controller was not found. If Deep Sleep Mode is enable Please Plug the Cable" now of course the cable was plugged in so i was confused.. just to make sure i tried rebooting a few times, taking out the ram to reset motherboard settings. after that failed i checked my programs and settings and the driver was installed but under device manager.. nothing for networking at all. so i guess my question is, Is my windows failing on me cuz it can't recognize the lan or is my motherboard crapping out on me?

I'm having difficulty installing the above driver.
Once installed it seems to work fine, then on restart the system see's new hardware and install a default "High def audio driver" which doesnt work. I have manually forced the update of the driver and selected the realtek version - same probelm - works fine then on restart it re installs default one!
Realtek HD Audio drivers for ALC889 chipsets. Windows 7 & Vista 32 & 64 bit v2.35
If you have previous drivers installed, this will uninstall the old ones and then restart the computer. Run the driver install again and you're good to go after another re-start.
I installed a Realtek driver and now Windows Media Player doesn't work, I'm currently on a Packard Bell machine that I hadn't updated the Realtek drivers on before.View 1 Replies View Related
After upgrading to 7 I have been experiencing some random difficulties with my sound system. When going to my sound card properties, I notice that there is a generic name to the device, "High-Definition Audio Device". Before I upgraded (when I was on Vista) I'm sure that it said Realtek-something but I don't remember the exact device name.
I want to download a driver update for my sound card, but how do I find out which driver I need to download if the name of the sound card is not showing?
I am about give up. I have read every website and tried many idea but nothing can fix this.
Using media center I get a very loud static. I have fixed it many times but then it comes back. I have reloaded the system and used only defaults and it works for awhile but then it comes back.
I have tried both the windows drivers and Reltek Vista driver. Every other sound works great (CD, MP3, DVD and Pandora). I use this system mostly for recording off DIRECTV.
I have tried change many setting as other treads have suggested.
I was having great difficulty in getting a stable LAN connection, but this was due to the driver that was being installed by Windows update.View 1 Replies View Related
I have a trouble with my friend PC. I installed him Windows 7, but I can't put Realtek High Definition driver. Tried all kind of drivers from the official site, but no result. On the Device manager there are jus High Definision driver, but not Realtek. In Program files there is a Realtek installed program, but nothing works. There is no Realtek Sound Manager too.View 3 Replies View Related
It's a pity but the new realtek HD sound driver (2.33) whilst has "preset" equalisations for a lot of options but there's NO custom setting where you can set your own equalisation. (You used to be able to set this in XP)
I'm not a big fan of "Canned" effects -- I prefer to set my own.
This was available in the XP driver --removing this in the latest Windows 7 version seems to be a BIG mistake. I suppose this is all in the modern nature of "dumbing down" everything.
I hope the "custom" feature will be re-instated in a later version.

You will need to have cookies enabled, check the accept box, and click Next before it will take you to the actual Realtek HD audio driver download page. If needed, see: How to Allow or Block Cookies in Internet Explorer in Vista You can download a ZIP version or the EXE version of the driver. You may need to install the Setup program twice. Install once and restart to uninstall the previous driver version, then a install and restart a second time to install the new driver version.
After the first install, verify the driver version in Device Manager after the restart to see if the current driver installed or not. If it is, then you will not need to install the driver a second time. When the driver installation is complete, you will need to set your audio settings again in the Realtek HD Audio Manager in the Control Panel (Classic View).
WARNING Some OEM computers will have a custom version of the Realtek HD Audio Manager with the OEM manufacturer's name included instead. For example it may be named "Acer [Realtek] HD Audio Manager" instead for the OEM Acer.
I've looked almost everywhere and I couldn't find my exact problem. Well, technically I did but there wasn't a solution anywhere, so I decided to go ahead and ask myself.
Now, I installed Windows 7 (32 bit) on my computer the other day, and I've been driver hunting since then. Looking for video card drivers, printer drivers, it's a real nightmare. Though I can say I've pretty much managed with everything, except with this.
I downloaded the latest Realtek HD audio driver for Windows 7 twice, from different sources. I also downloaded a bunch of codecs (made for Windows 7 as well) but what really bothers me is that the sound quality is horrifying.
I used to have XP on my system until last week with the appropriate Realtek audio driver and the sound was awesome. The equalizers available really did the trick.
Now, however, the sound is so freaking bad, even Winamp's equalizer can't make my music sound as good as it did. The treble is raspy, there's hardly any bass. I've tried all the available settings in the Realtek Control Center (or whatever it's called) to no avail. All the additional equalizing and adjusting of the environment make it sound even worse.
I recently decided to install Windows 7 service pack 1 after I installed that software and it updated everything, I don't get any sound from my onboard speakers. I do get sound when I plug in headphones or ext. speakers.. I'm sure its a driver issue because when I start up my computer I get start up sound out of the same speakers.View 16 Replies View Related

i had reinstalled windows 7 64 bit
but this time after i installed realtek driver it does not work?
Before the same driver worked with no problems at all!?
i have done this procedure at least on 10 others PC, have no clue why it does not work for mine PC?
I am unable to find a suitable driver for my computer. I have a Compaq Presario R3000AP 3.2 GHz 2.5GB Ram and have upgraded to windows 7 with SP1. I did a clean install and all the windows 7 drivers were installed and are compatible except for the Realtek AC'97 audio driver. I downloaded and installed the Realtek AC'97 Codecs from the Realtek website, but unfortunately this was unsuccessful . Then I downloaded and installed the SP29586 Realtek AC'97 Driver version 126.96.36.19905 from the HP website and this was also unsuccessful. Finally I downloaded from the Microsoft website the same Audio Driver version 188.8.131.5205 and installed it but unfortunately again this was unsuccessful. In the Device manager under Sound, video and game controllers it show below "Realtek AC'97 Audio device", version 184.108.40.20605 but in properties is shows "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" Windows 7 does recognize the sound device, but is unable to completely install it, even though under the "driver file details tab" it show drivers installed in the windows directory. I understand that Microsoft does not support the Realtek driver, but there must be some kind of fix or even someone out there that is able to rewrite the driver somehow. Seems a shame to have to get a new computer because of this, as it is very fast with windows 7 even though it is only a Pentium 4.View 3 Replies View Related

i built myself a new computer and it has an ASUS Rampage 3 Formula motherboard which has:SupremeFX X-Fi 2 built-in 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC
- Supports : Jack-detection, Multi-streaming, Front Panel Jack-retasking Audio Feature :
- X-Fi Xtreme Fidelity™
- EAX Advanced™ HD 5.0
- THX TruStudio PRO™
- Creative ALchemy
- Blu-ray audio layer Content Protection
- Optical S/PDIF out port(s) at back panel
I install the Realtek audio driver software and i get access to all my cool EAX advanced HD, THX truStudio etc.. things on that list BUT i get crackling noises every now and again when playing music/games whatever.
However i uninstall the audio driver software and i get no crackling sound when i listen to music or such, but i cannot access any of the features anymore.Whats going on here? its not the speakers or headphones i use, they have been tested on multiple devices, this only happens after the audio driver is installed and the audio features are activated.
My PC spec is:
CPU: Intel i7 980 3.33Ghz 12mb cache 6 core
GPU: 2x GTX 460 1GB

SSD: OCZ agility ~400-500mb read&write
HDD: 1TB 7500RPM WD caviar black
this is all brand new, i just finished building it all a while ago, so there is like no crap running in the background like viruses or unneeded programs.my speakers are just small desktop 2W speakers, and i also use iPhone headphones, i have tried using the front jack on my pc & the rear jack (one that says "front" and is a light green colour) i get the noises nomatter if its headphones or speakers.
if i chage audio drive to nvidea from my graphics card and plug speakers into audio jack on my monitor which gets the HDMI audio from the GPU i get perfect sound.Uninstalling Realtek audio driver makes my pc use a microsoft audio driver it must have default, but it sounds fine.i just cant do ANY of the audio features available from the motherboard without it. and i worry its not HDMI/cinematic surround without this?
