Random Computer Hang

i did a search through the forums to see if anyone else has had this issue but i could not find the exact problem.
before i go into details, here are the system specs. please note nothing has been over clocked.

i started this build in december and the hang has been happening more and more frequently. when playing a game, bf3, in my case, everything works perfectly, cpu and gpu stays cool, i have the windows widgets and a readout on my keyboard that uses core temp to see live temps.
however, just watching a video on Internet or browsing a site, or just listening to music, the system will freeze with the latest image on the screen and if sound was on, a .05 loop of the sound will keep playing. this happens at random times, nothing predictable, and i cannot replicate it. i cannot alt-tab, or ctrl-alt-delete out of it. both keyboard and mouse go dead and the only way to break the freeze is to hit the reset or power button. on some occasions i will get a bsod, but i think it has only happened 2-3 times, where as the hang has occurred at least 20+ times in the last month and a half.
here are some of the things i have tried.
-ran memtest86 for 14 hours: no errors
-disabled on board audio in the bios
-uninstalled realtek drivers
-updated video card, and sound card drivers
-ran atitool scan for artifacts for 8 hours: none found
-ran prime95 for 4 hours: stayed below 55c no errors.
-ran chkdsk
-messed with my power plans
-enabled and disabled fast boot in the bios
-ran full system scans with avast, ms security essentials, superantispyware, and malwarebytes: nothing found but tracking cookies
i have done more but i cannot remember right now, will post when it comes back to me.
my next step is trying a new power supply, the 750w may not have enough juice, but i do not have one to test with currently. i am eying the 1200w x-series from seasonic but i want to make sure it is not something else before i plunk more money down. i am willing to try any suggestions.
edit: forgot to add that this build originally started with a 96gb ssd which i had win7 loaded on. i felt it was too small so i upgraded to the larger one. however when i had the smaller ssd installed the same symptoms were present.

I bought a FSP Aurum 600w today. I finally replaced my generic power supply after using it for 2 years. Now, I just want to know how can I test if my PSU is good? I mean, I left my PC downloading something but when I came home, it hung again. I thought changing the power supply would fix the problem. I also changed my RAM sticks to RipJaws which went okay. The BSODs were gone. Now I just need to solve the unnecessary hanging when I leave it overnight while downloading.I thought that when I replace my PSU with a new one, it will "fix" the restarting and hanging thing because my former PSU was just a generic one and they said it's not good and it doesn't last for over a year so I thought that was the cause of problem. Because my PC will restart as if it lost power for 1 sec then it will return again.

I'm running a homemade rig, which worked fine on my 42" TV as a "HTPC/Gamer." Moved it from its spot in the entertainment center to my desk and BAM! Locks up or hangs during gaming. Zero activity, temps on my Strike-X drop to ambient, no Ctrl+Alt+Deletes, power button press resets, or power button hold resets. Only option is to flip the power switch on the PSU. Now, here's the kicker, when I lay the case horizontally, it works without a hitch.
ASUS M4A79T Deluxe
AMD Phenom II X4 955BE
G.Skill Ripjaw Series 8GB (4x2GB) @ 1600
XFX Radeon 5970HD
Liteon DVD Burner
LG Blu-Ray Burner
Aerocool Strike-X Fan/Temp Controller
6x120mm fans, 4 on the Strike-X, other 2 straight to mobo headers (fans are not LED or anything fancy)
Rosewill 600W PSU
All stuffed in a Cooler Master Centurion 590.
Now, I've ran a compliment of stress tests with the PC laying flat, no problems or spikes or anything. Furmark, Prime95, Unigine Heaven DX11, even CustomPC (a UK magazines') benchmarking suite for hours, no problems.
I've already updated BIOS for the Mobo and Video. Up to date drivers all around (as of 1/28/2012).

I dont know if this is the right area or not, as i just joined, but it seems to be the best place. I recently bought a new computer, and now it will randomly shut down. Its also making loud pitch noises. That just started happening. I called tech support and they told me it was probably just the power supply. Before I send it in though, i want to make sure that is what is wrong. I dont know all to put on here.

I have a computer running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1. It has run well for about a year, but recently has been freezing up randomly. Intel Core i7 2.67 GHz, 8 Gig of RAM. 1 TB disk with 807 GB free. I have made sure that all drivers are up to date.I have removed all external equipment except for mouse, keyboard and Network cable and still get random freezes. Sometimes every two or three days, sometimes multiple times a day. I've run AVG anti-virus, Malwarebytes,

I recently all but completely rebuilt my computer with a new PSU, motherboard, CPU, Case and RAM, and all was well with the world for about two months. Then just within the last week or so this has cropped up.
I'm running into an issue where my computer restarts at random. When it happens the screen will go black and then the computer will reboot and load normally. This happens both when at load, for instance running a resource intensive game, or when just watching netflix or browsing the internet. The restarts are very intermittent and can go for days without happening or will happen back to back.
I've run prime95 for over an hour with no issues, so I don't think it's the CPU. I've run furmark and kombuster tests, and there have been no issues. Neither the CPU or the GPU are anywhere near overheating at load, the CPU is at roughly 55C and the GPU around 68 to 70C during the tests rather steadily. I've also run Memtest86+ for over two hours with no errors, and run checks on both of my hard drives just for good measure to no avail. There were no errors there either. The problem has persisted through a fresh install of windows on a freshly partitioned hard drive, so it does seem likely to be hardware, and not software.
My specs:
Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz
ASRock Z77 Pro3 LGA 1155 Intel Z77
Antec High Current Gamer Series HCG-750 750W
ZOTAC AMP! ZT-50302-10M GeForce GTX 560 Ti
Crucial Ballistix sport 8GB (2 x 4GB)
Windows 7 Home Premium (64)

[code] My computer is unstable and BSODs at random, with error messages such as 'MEMORY_MANAGEMENT' and 'IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL'. I posted my problem on another forum (SevenForums) and had someone helping me but they seem to have dissapeared and my problem has not. url...If you don't mind please read up until page 2 as that is my latest errors (posted today). If you would rather me post my problem here direct I will. If you can see the attachments to my posts the dumps are also on that website, but once again I will post everything here if requested. I just see linking you to things I've already tried the best option rather than me try to explain everything again .
It has been going on for a while now, I have tried everything I can think of to no avail.I get Blue Screens out of the blue from anywhere, i can be idle to playing a game to the computer just getting into windows. On the link above I've tried many things, inluding memtest, driver verifyer, chkdisk, uninstalling norton (he said that could be the problem), system repair, a complete re-install of windows 7, updating all my drivers. To most recently cutting back to 4GB ram and making the timings and voltages to the correct setting instead of being on 'auto' in my bios, and it still BSODing. I have also ran 'prime95' on a blend test, and had errors on core #4:

for the last few days my computer has started to hang at random times. It could be 1 min or 15 min after start up and does not look to be linked to any 1 program. when it happens the computer will slow down for a min then I just get the round circle icon and nothing works, I cant even do Ctr Alt Del. I have done AVG scan and Superantispyware and all was fine apart from tracking cookies. I have also taken most unused programs out of MSCONFIG startup and still no luck.I will try and run the SysInfo tool and Hijackthis on the computwer now and post the results (Im using a different computer to post this)When it starts to slow Task manager, if i have it open in time, shows nothing strange cpu between 0% and 20%

my computer randomly shuts off while running games. First noticed while experimenting with Aion, a few days later it also occurs with Star Wars: The Old Republic, something it hadn't done before. The program files don't include any duplicate files (which I thought may be a problem. Aion did have a duplicate initially, and the deletion of this file appeared to fix the problem, though it returned the next day. Further research has indicated that the CPU maybe overheating, or the the PSU is failing. I'm not "techy" enough to know if it is the PSU, when the computer shuts down, there is no warning, just a black screen and then the keyboard lights and fans stop running roughly 5s afterwards.

So I noticed it happen a long ways, few months back, but one time it hanged and I resetted and it was completely okay from then on. Considering it happened only once, I stupidly believed my friend that sometimes computers have little slip-ups.Now, recently, it would hang a few times at random moments. Sometimes a little after start-up, when it's loading all the programs from the start, at some times just...at a completely random moment. I would restart it, but sometimes upon pushing the restart button, it would sometimes turn off, then turn on again, and sometimes (everything is so randomly patterned) it would turn off. I would cut the power completely, wait a few minutes, and possibly try again. By now I'm getting more and more anxious as this action increases at every moment.Goggling does little help since 'hanging' computers is such a broad broad topic, but I think it might be a hardware issue?
I'm not sure how to clean my CPU since admittedly, I don't want to touch anything in case I screw up. I know well enough about static and all that but I am not in a country that provides all the computer parts and necessities in the world.I'm not sure what else to take and do to proceed. I'm a little iffy, admittedly, at installing strange programs. I reaallly don't want to screw this up because I'm not exactly able to afford much since I'm just a high schooler. No BSODs for this issue. It hasn't BSOD'd in the lonnnnngest time. Just hangs at the screen.

1. computers shuts down on its own2. The shutdown is elegant, all programs close down quickly and there is no BSOD or anything2b. it gives me the impression that the PC is acting as if someone ordered a shutdown with the -force option, closing all apps by brute force.3. It almost always happens very late at night between 2 to 5 am.. I have yet to realize if there is a pattern to this whole thing. It seems random and happens 3-4 times a month5. When i open the PC everything works like a charm.6. I have scanned the PC with Microsoft security essentials, Avira antivir and malware bytes antimalware, and no sort of virus was found.

We recently purchased parts to build 2 completely new PC's for our company. Both PC's have the exact same specs, hardware and software...
yet one of them keeps crashing every couple of days. The other one has not had a single problem yet.
I'm providing the 2 crash dumps from the offending PC. If anyone could help us out in assessing the problem, we'd greatly appreciate it as we have absolutely no clue what's gong on currently.

My computer keeps randomly restarting. It doesn't matter if I'm browsing the Internet or playing games it will just happen randomly. It crashes most frequently during the boot up after the initial crash. system repair will give me a few extra minutes but it eventually crashes again. When rebooting it will turn off and on and ONE of my case fans which is connected to my motherboard will flicker on and off. i have other fans connected to the board that do not do this.
I've never posted here so I'm not sure what I should include in this post but here are my parts.
Motherboard: gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 AM3+ 970 R
Video Card: Radeon HD 7770 1G
Power Supply: Corsair HX750 750W
CPU: AMD Phenom II 3.4G AM3 R
Memory: 4Gx2 Vengeance
Hard Drive: 1TB SATA 6.0 32M
Windows 7 Home edition 64bit
Things I've done:
-booted in safe mode (still crashed and restarted)
-system restore (still crashed but less frequent)
-checked and secured power connections to the mother board
-sysstem repair (same as restore)
-Began a virus scan but computer crashed before it could finish
-checked CPU heat (remains 35-45 degrees Celsius even while playing games)

So once I installed W7 beta I was just going around and installing all the programs I needed, when a strange error occurred while I was trying to install AVG, this error didn't give me a message, a warning or anything, but in the middle of the installation my computer just shut off.
While confused as to why I was looking at a blank screen all of a sudden, I restarted my computer, windows 7 booted, I sent an error report, and everything seemed to be working fine, until five minutes later when it happened again, and this happened to me every few minutes of use.
So I got fed up and decided to just go back into my xp partition, but while xp was loading, it happened again. So I could no longer access my xp partition because my computer just spontaneously shuts off every time. I restored until a time before I got the error and everything seemed fine again for some time, W7 wouldn't shut of randomly and I could go into xp.
So about 20 minutes later, while I was installing TF2, it happened again, and I couldn't get into xp again. So I did what I did before and recovered, but this time, I can go into W7 without random shut down, but not into my my xp partition. This is a real big pain in the ass and I would apprieciate any ideas on how to fix this. I'm about to just reintstall windows 7 and see what happens.

im running a windows 7 computer with dual video cards to support three monitors as its a work computer, i have 4gb of ram and i have a few work programs on the computer, it was running fine but recently the computer has started to become really slow randomly and the mouse will skip all over the place instead of being a smooth movement. just wondering if you guys have heard of it before. it seems to be when i ask the computer to do something (eg open another program or change from one program to another.) wasnt always like this. also the physical memory use is over 50% even when most stuff is closed. Also it seems slow to boot. but i think this was just the amount of programs opening on boot. ive disabled a few.

I was wondering if you could help me out with a problem I have experienced recently. Since a week ago, my computer has started to freeze at random times, which would lead to some random applications closing such as chrome or microsoft security control. I can still use my mouse and such, but the computer would be completely unresponsive. I have tried to do clean installs, with vista, and the problem still persists. I then used windows 7 to do a clean install and the problem still occurs. And at almost every startup the CHKDSK runs. I tried updating my graphics card, and still nothing has happened.

So I just got this new Asus n53sn-xr2 laptop using windows 7, and already I'm having some problems with it. Basically what happens is it will freeze seemingly at random times (at first I thought it was firefox, but I just got it again using google chrome... I'm not sure if its related to browsing the internet or not) and the computer will, after a short period of time, become completely unresponsive. I can't even load task manager so the only way to turn of the computer is with the power button. One of the times my computer freezed I got a BSOD and it said "driver power state failure". I took a picture of it and I can provide the other information too if you need me too. I can return this computer by monday if it sounds like a hardware issue but if its not then I would much rather fix it because I've already put so much time into transferring all my files

I've done the virus scan (I have Trend Micro). Everything looks alright but the computer is still a bit of a mess.
