some of my programs/games can't save to a folder unless I run them as admin this there a better way ?For example: a game can not store files in c:/program files/the game/userdataIt's annoying to have tun run them as admin.
As the topic says I cant delete a folder. It says i need permission, but i have taken ownership of the folder and gave me full control over it but the same thing happensThe folder i am trying to delete is a temp folder with the name "vsTemp19" its around 5,5 gb big and i have no idea how it got there.So is there anything i can do like a software that can delete it or something?
I bought a 64 GB SSD Hard and I was wondering if I could store programs like printer settings ,Bluetooth ect ect on a SD card which I will leave in.I have already put my music and pictures on USB but not so sure how to use them (Associate) altogether properly?
Is there a way to force Windows to save a programs progress (ie a rendering program such as Revit) and restart, similar to the actions it takes before the computer shuts down after the battery has died?
When I save files from programs (aka Word, Photoshop, anything)onto my Desktop, I cannot see them directly from the actual desktop. I can only see them when I open up Explorer, and click on the Desktop tab. Then all my files are visible. I thought they were hidden...but they apparently aren't.It possibly seems like a refresh error.I did find a way around this..I go to Control Panel >> Appearance and Personalization >> Under Folder Options >> Show Hidden Files and Folders. I click on Reset folders, Apply, and then OK, and my missing files pop up on my actual desktop.But from then on, any new files I save are only visible in Explorer again. I don't want to go to Control Panel everytime I have to save something to the desktop? I've run Norton and Microsoft Essentials and I have no viruses. What can I do?I just found out I can also see my files after pressing f5 (refresh)so I guess the problem is HOW do I get my computer to refresh the desktop automatically?
I changed via the dialog the TEXT SIZE via the screen resolution in the control panel to CUSTOM SIZE.With one of the newer "Cinema" or Very Wide screen (1680 X 900) displays after I'd increased the text size to over 160 % I didn't get the possibility to SAVE any documents any more via the SAVE AS button. The SAVE dialog would appear but the SAVE button was missing.The effect was noticed in Office 2007 (all programs) Notepad etc etc.Seems to be a Windows fault as this should not be allowed to happen.on more traditional "Squarer" type monitors -- no problem.
Is there any way to set the default save location folder for downloads in IE8 to the last folder that the same file type was saved in? It makes no sense to default to a single folder and have to browse through to the desired folder for every single download, so I assume there has to be an option somewhere.
So over the past few days it seems that I have lost control of my C drive and all of its contents.I can no longer properly access it, and everything opens in "Read-Only". I can no longer install programs or modify existing programs.According to the security permissions, I have none. Nor can I change my permissions because in order to change them I need access to the C drive, which I don't have.I have tried creating other users and putting them in the admin group, etc. but nothing is working.
Today I decided to install some stuff on my computer as it was out of date..I installed Java, Flash player and adobe reader X but when I go to add/remove they are not showing up in that section?
Every time I start up normally into Win7 everything is fine for a couple of minutes. I'll open a few programs, then after a few minutes of them running they'll hang and enter the 'not responding' mode. (firefox, steam, IE). If I don't already have task manager running the system will basically be unresponsive and the only thing I can do is reboot manually. If I have task manager running I can sometimes end a process or two but some will remain open & unresponsive. Any programs that are working (including task manager) disappear when I minimize them and no programs appear on the task bar, (though they can be retrieved with alt+tab).

This is all very strange as there was nothing wrong four days ago when I was away, and the symptoms occured within 2-3 minutes of booting up this evening. The system runs in safe mode.
Is it possible to "Save In Last Location" without changing the "Default Save Location" from then on? I would like to see the same location (destination) in the "Save As" Pop Up box, every time I edit each picture, for any individual session...see picture below for the string of actions that I have to go through each time

This fault is occur a after using Iobit Uninstaller. I closed this program before uninstrallation process of selected programs completed. After this only 5 programs are showing. I restore syatem by Iobit Uninstaller. but no any change.I checked registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionUninstall). There is only 5 keys. I downloaded Adobe Shockwave Player which is needed to view a file (.swf), and it appears in the control panel as an installed program. However, it does not appear as a default program when I am trying to use the "associate a file type or protocal with a specific program" even when I press the browse list. The program also does not appear when I "right click" the file itself and use the open command. The program also does not appear in the list of programs on the "All Progams: list when clicking the windows icon. So, can someone tell me how to get programs onto the default list....(Please, I have seen a number of threads that talk about how to "set" the default program which I am well aware of...I need to know how to get a program to be recognized and incoroporated as part of the list).
first when I try to open microsoft office starter 2010 a box appears...click to run configuration error....so I went to programs and features to repair it and many of my installed and pre-downloaded programs aren't listed.. they are in the start menu and they work but they're just gone. My computer is running windows 7 ultimate. From the last few days I have noticed that my computer does not save changes before shutdown or restart.
Take for example you have placed the recycle bin folder on top-left corner of the desktop which was earlier placed on the bottom-right corner. Then after restarting you would get the recycle bin folder again on the bottom right corner. But if you save something in the disk like a document in Documents folder, then it will still be there at the disk even after restart.

I have created a 'Template' and saved it as a Word Template (*.dotx) and it's been saved in my 'Documents Library'.
How do I get it to appear in the My Templates folder which appears under the Office Button in the 'New' option?

the only right click option which appears is "copy" but you cannot then "paste"mthat into your Windows Exploer folders. The only work around I have found is to send the Email to my Hotmail account and then save the "attachments" (.jpg) which arrive with it for the graphics. I have a desktop (A) and a laptop (B) with W7 Home Premium 64-bit and a laptop (C) with W7 Home Premium 32-bit. I have been trying to connect all three so that I can have full control of files. For example: When I am on A I would like to access and alter files on B. When I try to save a file I have worked on, I get the message that I do not have permission or could not save file is blocked.
I have given each PC a unique user name and given each full control on the respective PCs by going to Properties > Advanced Sharing > Permissions. I have gone into Windows Firewall to allow programs to communicate and added the programs I wish to use. I have done Take Ownership.
Still very new to Windows 7 but getting to like it more each time I use it.
Now that I have a few more programmes installed, Word, CorelDRAW etc, what is the correct way to save the files? At the minute everything I save goes into one file called My Documents. Should I somehow be saving files for different programmes in different areas.
It's not to bad at the minute as I only have a few files for Word and CorelDRAW. Most of my work is still on my older XP system.
My computer is win 7 and here recently it the circle by the pointer goes off and on periodically i have ran windows security and also malwarbytes and hijack this hijack says for some reason your system denied write access to host file. is this bad also i cant save the log file from hijack this.
My first post and an issue that recently started and I can't seem to figure it out. When I do a save as file and I click on Desktop on the side bar it will save it to my desktop in System32/config/desktop instead of user/desktop. If I save a file instead of save as it will go to my normal desktop under user/desktop. Is there a setting somewhere to change the default desktop back to user?
