Possible To Get Mac Three Finger Swipe Feature?

Nov 22, 2011

Is it possible to emulate that "sliding" feature where you can switch to different windows so easily? I can't believe it's not a built in feature it would be so much easier to navigate through windows than having to point and click on them!

Customer Has To Swipe Their Credit Card On A Box Connected To The Computer Via USB?

Dec 2, 2012

2. This is the main thing that we need. We saw this implemented at a Staples. What we want is for the computer to be locked, and to unlock it, a customer has to swipe their credit card on a box connected to the computer via USB. Once the customer does this, they can use the computer, and a small timer in the corner shows how much time has been used, since they are being charged per minute. Then, once the customer is finished, the computer will relock and print a receipt.oes anyone have an idea on how to do this? We've tried programs such as Smartlaunch, but we were having trouble with it, and it appears that an account has to be created for each user. The point of the set up we require is so that we don't have to be present for the customer to pay to use the computer.

Windows 7 Home Premium Multi-Colored Swipe Error

Apr 29, 2012

I have a dell inspiron notebook less then one year old. Every time I attempt to start up it suggest start-up repair or start normally. If I choose start normally it begins to load with the microsoft symbol when all of the sudden a multi-colored streak runs across the top half inch of the screen and it freezes for good. I have used startup repair and the computer is unable to automatically repair it, I have tried to reboot from an image of the computer and the same error happens at start-up. I have even gone as far as restoring the factory settings but there is nothing that will prevent that little streak from showing up and freezing my computer mid start up.

Holding Finger On Buttons Don't Stretch The Operation

Apr 13, 2011

I typed some text. And I want to erase some of that text using the Backspace key. I press it. But it only deletes 1 character before I have to press it again. And so I'm in the process of pressing the backspace key multiple times before I get rid of one word. I want that to be resolved. How can I change (return) to the way where holding down my finger on the key will do the operation multiple times.

P.S. I'm not sure if this is already included i the my footnote or not. But I'm on an Asus G73jh, I've been exposed to some well-known issues on the G73, but this keyboard problem hasn't been one of them.

Feature You Are Trying To Use Is On CD-ROM Or Other Removable Disk

Jun 6, 2011

'The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available'. This is an error I get when I try to install the Games For Windows Live Marketplace onto my PC. From my understanding it may be because I am missing the Windows Installer Package .msi? Yet I cannot find a download that works with Windows 7... Is my assumption correct? Does anyone have a working link for Windows 7 64-bit? If not, what can I do about this irritating error that's stopping me from installing a fair few things. I also get messages whenever I install anything on steam, as, when it tries to mess with visual c+++ it tells me I am missing 'vc_red.msi' ...is this related?

Error Reporting Feature

Oct 23, 2009

I recall reading some time ago about a new feature in Windows 7 for user generated error reporting that would allow a user to record their desktop / take periodic screenshots while they replicated an error, which would then allow them to forward / email the report to someone who could offer help.

I can't seem to locate this feature in Windows 7 Ultimate, and i'm having trouble locating any articles talking about the feature.

Was it removed or am i not looking hard enough?

Anytime Upgrade Feature

Nov 13, 2009

A week or two ago there was a considerable amount of confusion concerning the Anytime upgrade. The people on the phone at MS insist they must send you a DVD in the mail. Windows 7 replies all you need to do is pay and get a key. The book Windows 7 inside and out says the same thing, but when you try to do that, at least this is what happened last week, the web site fails.

I attribute this to the product being brand new and just one of the glitches that go along with a new roll out. Does anyone know if these issues have been clarified?

Using Windows 7 Backup And Restore Feature?

Using the Windows 7 Backup and Restore feature I made a back up of my Documents folder and my Desktop (the only two things on my computer I care about). I did not check off the option "Include a system image of Drives: ---". After the backup completed I clicked on the JOSH-PC (backup file) the window saying "Choose an option below for the selected backup" came up. If I click "Restore my files from this backup" will it automatically overwrite my current Desktop and Documents folder with what is in the back up or will I have a choice as to where on my computer these files are restored to?

What Function Or Feature Should A Browser Support ?

Dec 1, 2009

In another topic about browsers, one member said concerning their browser of choice, "Speed isn't really an issue. Instead, it's more about the browser's features." I thought that was an extremely interesting point, so rather than drive that thread [further] off-topic, I decided to start this thread, with a comment, and a couple questions, and ask that you add your own comments as to what you expect a browser, your next browser, to do or support.

One necessary ground rule - this is not about which browser is better or not, just what you feel your next browser should do, or support. Features you like, must have, or would like to see. Or even features you don't like.

A word processor should enable a user to create documents. An anti-malware scanner should detect and protect you from malware. A firewall should protect ports. An operating system should make all of them, and all your hardware work seamlessly together.

History has shown us over and over again that when software makers start adding extra features and functions (some may say, "flashy lights" or "bells and whistles" - some may say, "bloat" or "foistware") to applications, anti-malware programs, firewalls, operating systems, etc., that our computers (hard drives, desktops, Start menus, and system resources - RAM and CPU clock cycles) and patience often tend to get bogged down with all that extra "fluff". With that in mind,What basic "function" or functions do you expect your browser to perform?

What native (integrated) "features" must your browser include?

What "add-on feature" or "plug-in" is a "must have" for you? Should it be native to all browsers?

Feature Funky With Dual Monitors

I have to have dual monitors and 7 works great with them. One of the cool featurs of 7 is to be able to put up two reading panes side by side. If you have not seen this it is done by opeing say 2 Word docs. Pull one left and one to the right. They will each fill 1/2 the screen side by side. When I do it with dual monitors - let's just say it does not give the expected results.
