Permission Denied And Hidden Files?
Feb 12, 2013
I am running Windows 7 ultimate. I currently installed Adobe CS 6 (Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator and After effect) after installation suddenly there seems to be some problem with my Documents folder, I have attached a screenshot kindly view it.When I access "My Documents" folder the My Picture, My Music etc folders are hidden and whenever I try to open them I get an error permission denied but I can access them from the Libraries menu on the left. Also there is a thumbs.db file getting created, in every folder, even when I insert a pen drive this file is getting created in that too. After applying the option don't show hidden files, the files are hidden but after I reboot the hidden files are visible again.

I know there have been a lot of tutorial/tips on how to deal with permission when you need to copy files on Windows 7. I have turned off UAC, take the ownership of the folder and all sub-folders/files ... but still I have not been able to copy quite a few files in one of my folder.
Windows 7 (Ultimate/64bit) pop up a warning box saying that I need a permission from myself to be able to copy those files. If I click Yes, it still won't happen.

I have been a computer consultant for decades ans I have NEVER heard this simple, singular issue addressed with other than MS pros cattily pretending to explain it away in words that mean nothing to the rest of us.I have had to radically emasculate several networks of security issues in order to get beyond this absurd barrier to the transfer of files over even the most simplistic of networks The pompous and non-assistive pretentious BS that MS experts vomit all over the web only adds insult to injury.I have two computers, a desktop and a notebook. Both are running Win 7 Home Premium. They both can see and use the files on the other but I CANNOT COPY OR MOVE ANY FILES FROM ONE TO THE ANOTHER.I would be delighted to have someone tell me how I might accomplish that/ they are even empowered to include in their explanation what a complete idiot I am not to have known how to do that before now.Whip me. Shame me before the world for my inability to understand how I might accomplish a task that should be a basic function of any network connectivity, but stop using such cryptic and unintelligible terms to describe the indescribable methodology as to pretend "the rest of us" might be In case you "experts" haven't noticed, NOBODY GETS IT!!

From somewhere, somehow, a folder named "24cd9e4542d29590bce925ec30" has been created in my W7x86pro root dir. Trying to look inside, I had to "permanently get access". But then inside it, there are a whole lot of folders named things like 1025, 1028, 1029, etc, ending with 3076, and 3082. What's in those folders, I have no idea, since every time I try to open one, I first get the "You don't currently have permission to access this folder" dialog, and then when I click Continue, I get "You have been denied permission to access this folder".
Also inside the "24cd9e4542d29590bce925ec30" folder, there are files, like "Setup.exe" and "NDP40-KB2473228.msp" and "SetupEngine.dll" and some *.bmp and some other files. I guess that NDP40-KB2473228.msp gives away that this folder has something to do with some .NET framework update, but AFAIK, there's no .NET-anything installed on this computer. I want to remove the "24cd9e4542d29590bce925ec30" folder, but there seems to be no way I can get permission to do that. trying to get ownership or set access rights, all I get is "Access denied" or similar.
1. What those folders and files are doing there?
2. How do I remove them?

Some of my important system files are no longer hidden and I can't hide them even with the Command Prompt "attrib" command. Files such as bootmgr and ntldr are shown and I can't hide them. Also, show Protected System files is unchecked and show hidden files is also unchecked so they shouldn't be showing. I tried to re-add their system file attribute but I keep getting an "Access Denied" error in CMD and I do not have user account control on and I'm on a Default Administrator Account.

Have a problem moving files from my laptop to my desktop. They are on a Homegroup, both running Win 7. When I try copying files from my laptop to my desktop, and I initiate this on the laptop, I get an error saying "Destination folder access denied. You need permission to perform this action" But if I initiate the same file copy from my desktop, then it works fine.

I have a netbook running Win 7 Starter.I noticed when trying to change the wallpaper that I do not have permission to perform certain tasks - even with an administrator account. I got a message saying I need permission from Windows TrustedInstaller.Having googled for help on changing permissions, I tried, but the options are greyed out. If such trivial changes are blocked, then I imagine that there are other things I can't do either. Is there a way round this without upgrading (definitely would not consider) or switiching to Linux (would consider if necessary).

I was setting up a network and in the confusion somehow got a deny permission on 'Everyone' group. Since deny permissions take preference I now don't have the ability to remove this setting. Even when taking ownership and full control etc. My user and administrator still falls under everyone and therefore cant change the setting. In essence getting an access denied on changing the permission

Yesterday I reformatted my PC, everything went just fine. However, when I'm now trying to access a folder in my (D hard drive I get "you have been denied permission to access this folder" I do know how to fix the problem folder and files each, but how can I fix this error for my hole (D hard drive? Is there a more simple way to fix this without going through all my files? There's also "unknown" users with numbers that have access to the files, like it would be my old user before reformat. How can I remove them the most simple way?I also want to know why did this happen? I have reformatted before and didn't encounter this problem, and I can't think of anything that would make this happen. How can I prevent this from happening again? I reformatted my PC after fixing some of the access to see if it would happen again, and it did.I also noticed that on some folders there are a lock on the icon, as well as that most of the folders are write protected and I cant remove

I recently reformatted my hard drive so before I moved all the files I wanted to my external hard drive.
So I'm all formatted with Windows 7 Ultimate re-installed and I'm trying to move all the files back. For whatever reason, a couple pictures (.jpg) and a couple videos (.avi) will not move or open. They were all contained in the same folder.
It was saying access denied and I needed permission from S-1-5-....gigantic number. So I changed the ownership and permissions of the files and the folders. Now it says I need permission from myself (Laptop/Kevin). I am the only account and have administrator privileges.

Okay, I am trying to keep an open mind to the point that I invested my money into Win 7 Ult. 64 bit. While I find that it has some interesting addons, like Vista I find that is appears to be warmed over XP with the same features, just renamed and in different places so as to seem new. Now, that being said the deal breakers is really whether or not I can access and view files that I wish to. It seems no matter how I set up my admin access I can not view files such as, Temporary Internet files, cookies and many others unless I go through a 3rd party program such as Norton Utilities 10.5. In XP I could find and view them without problems. In Win 7, not only can I not view them but the difficulty in even finding that they exist makes me wonder what other files hold information that I wish to know about but windows is hiding from me.So, 2 questions. Can anyone give me an easy fix that will allow all files to be exposed to me AND viewable to me via Windows Explorer and 2, While Win 7 some nice little add ons can anyone explain what makes it fundamentally better than XP so that I would want to stay with it rather than going back to XP?

I intend to burn some hidden files onto a CD with a only a visible direct access into them, but the folder holding these files carry only the direct access onto the CD. I think that this trick might protect files on CDs from unauthorized copy. Does any one know how to do that?

For the past week or so, ALL of my files on desktop and in every folder have turned translucent. When I checked properties, the hidden attribute has been set. However this includes my special Libraries icons (Pictures, Music etc).Fair enough, I could simply go and manually unset the hidden property via DOS or Properties on the root C: folder, but this will be time consuming on a 640GB hard drive and it still won't answer why it happened in the first place. My first step was to perform an Antivirus scan which found nothing, then a malware scan which only picked up an infestation of 31 Relevant Knowledge files/registry entries. It tells me these are all now all removed but my icons are still "hidden".I have just done a test run to unset H on my C:usersusername folder (which required administrator privaleges to run) and it seems to have done the trick on folder and file icons, but my special Libraries icons are still translucent, and when I right click I don't get the usual properties dialog to unset the hidden attribute. After days of googling, I can't find anyone with a similar story for an explanation of why this may have happened, if it will happen again, if there are any other underlying issues/threats that are not obvious to me, or if I'm just being a numpty. In addition to this, around the same time but probably totally unrelated, my Chrome Shockwave Flash has crashed and have unsuccessfully uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail and I have now been forced to resort to using IE!

Whenever I save a file to my desktop, I have to go into the folder options for the desktop and select to view all hidden files. The files I save, when I check their properties, are no longer hidden. I have to go through this process ANY time I save a file to my desktop, no matter the file type.
Files saved to other folders aren't hidden.

I'm having a strange problem in Windows 7. The problem is that basically, anytime I want to copy a file to the C: (OS partition), Windows asks me if I want to continue copying a file there (I am an administrator so I don't know why it should). Also, if I want to download a file to the C: partition, it won't allow me and it'll tell me I have to save it in my username folder, not in the C: root. According to the persmissions, administrators have full control but I'm still asked if I want to copy files.I've tried assigning users to have full control but I get a series of messages like "This file is currently in use, cannot set permission" and access denied for "Program files, Program Files (x86), Windows and C:".

I recently got a virus (I got it professionally removed) that caused all my personal files (pictures, music, etc) to become hidden. I went into folder options to make it show hidden files. I can now go individually to each picture file and make it unhidden, but I have thousands of pictures. I tried going to the folder and doing "select all" to select all the pics in that folder, but when I go to properties the hidden box is grayed out. Is there anyway to make all hidden files unhidden without going through them one by one?
