PC Wont Boot After Trojan Removal?

Aug 25, 2012

I have an Acer desktop (AX1420G-U5832) with Windows7 64 bit which recently got a trojan. Microsoft Security Essentials partially removed it so I burned Microsoft Defender to a disc and booted my computer from the disc. Defender ran and removed the trojan successfully. Unfortunately, when I tried to reboot my computer to Winows normally it wouldnt. The Acer logo appers like normal but the next screen is a black screen with blinking cursor. It does nothing.I am able to access the BIOS menu with DEL.I am able to access the boot device menu with F12. I'm currently booting from the hard drive.

No Sound After Trojan Removal?

Oct 17, 2012

In the process, my sound has completely gone. There is no symbol on the taskbar, and the pc doesn't seem to even recognise the speakers to be there, although i think it recognises the sound card. Briefly challenged this before when i had time, and tried to download a driver update/replacement, but this wouldn't work.Any ideas on how to get the sound back? (the same also happened to my webcam over a year ago, but im not so bothered about that, but the lack of sound is frustrating at the best of times)if s the original thread when i lost the sound, and you can see from my posts where i lost it.

Can't Remove The Trojan Malware "MS Removal Tool"

Apr 23, 2011

My son was not using a security software program and got the "MS Removal Tool" infection. I have Norton and was trying to download it to his laptop, from Norton site, but the malware blocks even getting on the internet to do the DL. It stops the laptop operation within seconds after the boot up. I can get to the "safe mode" by pressing F2 immediately but then, after that, I don't know what to do! Should I go buy Norton at a store and install from disc? and how would I do that, in safe mode? how to get his system up and running again and this time protected. his rig is a Toshiba, 17" laptop, windows 7,

Windows 7 Won't Boot After Virus Removal

Dec 31, 2011

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate?I ran ESet security and it found and deleted two infections in Appdata/roaming - (I noted that it was reading trial mode at the bottom of the windows screen which I never noticed before but at least that was when it was still functioning. I restarted the computer, was welcomed by the Asus menu screen first and then when it goes to load windows, it says "loading windows files" and then goes to the automatic repair feature. It says corrupt file in problem details and proceeds to conclude that it can't fix it. In the advanced features, I have tried the startup repair with no luck, the system restore with no luck - tried all restore points listed and after many many 30 min intervals, it comes back that it cannot restore to the previous state. There are no disk images and no memory problems. Command Prompt will run (although one time it did not and simply shut down). I booted from DVD and tried repair from that with no more luck than before, however, did find it strange that when it looked for the windows installation it found one called windows and one called Microsoft Windows - same partition size, all details the same, not sure what's up with that.

I followed the info under Windows cannot start/.exe files cannot run forum up until ubunto is concerned something about the cd and usb running I can get it to make the mbr.bin file but can't get it to recognize the usb to put it on to check it out or the balance of what's next? Also, at the Automatic System repair it reads:

Startuprepairoffline
6.1.7600.16385
6.1.7600.16385
unknown
212009913
autofailover
13
corruptfile
1033 locale 1D

It doesn't identify an actual corrupt file name it says it can't determine the root of the problem.Tried to run Windows 7 upgrade from the disk but because I'm not in windows that won't work and also because I'm running SP1 and I don't have the disk for SP1.I've downloaded Unetbootin and Ubontu but don't know how to work them to get things fixed I've also tried unloading the windows update cache but still nothing because prior to this problem it was failing on all windows updates and have noticed other people comment that that was their problem - still no luck.

Windows 7 Won't Boot After Virus Removal

Dec 30, 2011

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate and I'm hoping to get a quick fix on this as I've been trying for two days to fix this computer with no luck yet. The problem arose so far in that, I ran ESet security and it found and deleted two infections in Appdata/roaming - (I noted that it was reading trial mode at the bottom of the windows screen which I never noticed before but at least that was when it was still functioning. I restarted the computer, was welcomed by the Asus menu screen first and then when it goes to load windows, it says "loading windows files" and then goes to the automatic repair feature. S.m.a.r.t. Hdd Trojan Attack?

Apr 23, 2012

Yesterday I was attacked by the s.m.a.r.t. trojan which has "hijacked" my files and hid them. I have followed the recommendation from Microsoft Answers, Security Essentials[URL] but it is not working. I got my desktop icons to show up but the screen is still black and I cannot see anything when I click the start button. It was suggested that I open up a new window in task manager, but when I click on Task Manager it reverts back to the fake virus scanner (S.M.A.R.T. HDD). I typed in "cmd" on the search bar, which opened up a dos prompt. I then proceeded to type in the following:

CD/ then hit enter
ATTRIB -H -R -S /S /D then hit enter

The prompt began to scroll through numerous files rapidly, but each line was preceeded by "access denied". So, when it finished, nothing was accomplished, as far as I know. I have not rebooted the PC yet. Any suggestion? I don't know if this was the incorrect thing to do, but, before I entered those dos commands I ran a copy of Windows Defender Offline Beta from disk. It said that it removed numerous trojans, but I fear that it only angered it. I will probably reformat my c:\ drive, b ut i want to gbet some files off of it prior to doing so.

Trojan Horse On A Computer?

Jul 29, 2012

I have program that tells me that i have lots of bad trojans such as Trojan.win32/agent trojan-spy etc. Program is called Advanced system care 6 pro. I installed it today and when I ran scan it said scanning trojan.win32/agent trojan.win32/vunto trojan-spy backdoor.fraud and many other bad stuff but the most interesting thing is it doesn't find them as harmful software. I have also noticed my system loads slowly after welcome screen I get black screen and wait for approximately 15-30 secs to load desktop and none of my antiviruses are able to find it they seem to be stuck on one folder when they scan because the folder that they scanned doesn't change i waited for hours and folder was same. Programs i use are SUPERAntispyware trial, Malwarebytes free, avast! internet security pro none of them find the trojan horse. I ran scan in safe mode and I found some trojans but the software didn't scan any further than folder c:windows....amd64(not sure about whole path). I waited for hours and it still didn't change. After program advanced system care 6 made scan it didn't find them as malware I did delete them but they are not deleted I didn't find any suspicious programs in task manager I have screen shoots to show you.

How To Remove Trojan Pws Banker

Sep 13, 2011

Who ever done this changed passwords so I can not get back in, and then spent a few bucks on my eBay account, before I got a hold of them by phone and put a stop to it. This led me to start scanning my computer with several different anti virus programs, and StopZilla is the only program that found this on my machine, which I believe, because whoever hacked me had to have a way to get into my accounts and has changed pw's on both my email and Facebook on me. Facebook locked my account for me, but hotmail says they can do nothing, because if he or she is that good they will just hack back in? Wow, talk about a lack of security. I even had my Facebook set so that it had to send me a confirmation code on my cell to enter before anyone could get in, and while out yesterday my cell goes off, and there is a confirmation code??? I come home and am locked out??So the scans show nothing except a vundo.A with comodo and avg, but stopzilla shows this pws banker

Backdoor Trojan Removed But Browser Proxy Settings Changing Automatically

Jan 29, 2011

I think I am having a problem with a trojan, "Backdoor:Win32/Cycbot.B". MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) has removed this trojan twice in the past 2 days. It says it's deleted successfully, but I'm having symptoms that say otherwise. What's been happening that tells me something is not right is that since yesterday, when I open a browser (any browser), I get a message that the proxy is refusing the connection, and when I check the settings, it shows the connection settings have been changed to "Manual Proxy Settings" with my computer's local host IP used as the proxy IP. I have searched for removal tools, but Firefox's Web of Trust tells me all the search results are rated "bad/" and the Microsoft Malware Encyclopedia doesn't offer a link for one.

I've been to Ease of Access Center, and there is no checkmark in magnifier. A shortcut to it is listed in start menu and I located the app in C: drive. But I can find no way of 'executing the exe'. It is constantly popping up when I'm using anything on the desktop. This is a real nuisance for me though I'm sure many may need it.

Win 7 No Longer Boots After Removal Of XP

Nov 1, 2009

I did have the following setup, on a single drive, two partitions:

345GB: Windows XP (installed first)
120GB: Windows 7

I've made a slight mistake – I've deleted the partition which hosted the MBR for my dual boot setup.
Basically, I have a single hard drive split into two partitions. I thought that I was thoroughly satisfied with Windows 7, so I decided to delete the partition which XP was sitting on. Little did I realise/remember at the time, but the XP partition held all the boot information, thus rendering my newly formed single partition unbootable. I booted GParted to ensure that my partition was intact, and it showed the following:

/dev/sda1 Extended 465GB LBA
/dev/sda5 NTFS 465GB Boot
(I manually flagged /dev/sda5 as 'boot')

This all appeared normal to me, so I put my Windows 7 disc in and attempted the various repair options. In my experience (with XP), FIXMBR from the command prompt usually fixes the issue, in this situation it hasn't. I've also tried 'BootRec.exe /fixmbr' & 'BootRec.exe /fixboot'. None of which seem to work.

My last attempt at fixing this was using the 'Startup repair' option on the Windows 7 disc. This hasn't worked either.

Can someone perhaps kindly offer me a solution? I'd rather not reinstall Windows.
