View 3 RepliesThinking of next computer. I'm married to Outlook 2002, including on my Droid phone. I hear Outlook is not compatible with Win 7.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just looked at a thread where a person complained that there is a known incompatibility between Win 7 and Outlook 2002, namely that Outlook would not save passwords in the Win7 environment. Microsoft has offered no solutions and the tenor of most of the replies was that the complainer should just quit whining and upgrade. The software was purchased and the purchaser should have every expectation to be able use it, especially within a monopoly OS. The problem is that Microsoft doesn't support their software and actively (criminally?) plans their obsolescence so that people will be forced to upgrade. This is mere to pad their profits and does not serve the society in which they operate as an exclusive franchise. If a software company stops supporting their software, then they should be forced by statute to open the source code.Any arguments against this are purely fatuous They may claim that they are protecting source code, but if this is so, then the new upgrade is just a minor adjustment and not a substantive upgrade to the code. Minor changes to inventions are not worthy of patent protection under patent law. They can't have it both ways.Their attempt to force upgrades whenever they introduce a new OS cries out for protection under anti-trust laws.Microsoft does not have the authority or the right to pad their profits by planning obsolescence into systems that they monopolize. If they don't want to support old software then let them turn this task over to competitors. This is the meaning of patent law, to allow innovations that serve the interest of society. This is an industry that is out of control and needs fixing. Their control of the OS places a huge and unnecessary cost burden on the middle class throughout the world. This is a drag on the entire economy and adversely impacts our society in numerous ways.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm running Outlook 2007 with Windows 7 on my Dell Vostro 220. I recently started getting the popup prompting me to save my password in outlook. This has happened before on other computers in my office and we normally fix it by changing the password. This time I've changed the passwords, tried everything listed here - [URL] and it still wont save. I am prompted for the password every time I try to run a send/receive or when any email comes in or out. At first I would just hit save two or three times and it would go away for a little while until I got another email but the the emails would be sent or received. Now I am getting incoming emails but cant send, it just keeps popping back up.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy computer crashed then re-booted to the login. After logging in, it all seemed to load as usual. Then I clicked on the icon for Outlook 2007 and it came up with the request for the password to the Personal Folders(1).pstThe problem is that I can't recall ever setting the password for that particular personal folder and after several attempts it refuses to let me in to Outlook. I can see the Menu bar and the titles in the menu bar but cannot click on them or ANYTHING.Have tried using Scanpst.exe without success. When I look in C:Users Pete App Data Local Microsoft Outlook I can see the archive .pst file there. The one that is causing the problem(Personal Folders(1).pst) is in a separate folder. My computer is Windows 7 x 64 Professional with Office 2007 sp2. Memory is 4Gb, I have My Documents in a separate HDD. Have attached a .docx of the issue.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI use Outlook 2007 for my schools e-mail. Periodically, I get a popup window that says Enter Network Password. I've never changed my password and it doesn't happen all the time, but right now it won't stop. I also deleted and re-added my account and it still won't stop. Also, not sure if this is related or not. After deleting my account and profile, I logged into my e-mail through the Outlook web app and it says "This account can't be used to access Outlook.com. You're currently signed in with an Office 365 email account, which can't be used with Outlook.com. Please click here to sign out of your Office 365 account, then use another Microsoft account to sign in to Outlook.com (for example, your hotmail.com, live.com, or msn.com account)." I clicked and logged in again and it says the same thing.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to open my 2010 Oulook the following window opens: Heading - "Outlook data file password." Message - "Type the password for [my e-mail address]" I cannot change any settings in Outlook, everything is blank except for the window described above. I have tried all the passwords I know I could have or usually use and nothing works. There is no option to type in a username. I do not use an exchage server, only the POP and SMTP settings. View 3 Replies View RelatedI wrote last May asking about Office 2003 compatibility with Windows 7, and decided to install office 2003 after my Office 2007 trial version was up. Well, now it is up, only the install CD I have says "Microsoft Office XP Professional, version 2002." Not the same as MS Office 2003? So I'm wondering again, will this version be compatible with Windows 7? Also I was planning to remove Win 7 with "RipoutOffice2007".

View 2 Replies View RelatedI love outlook, but I need to keep signing back in, even tho I check save password. I need to do this three times before I can send/receive. Seems that using it, everything works fine, but if I do not check mail for about 15 minutes, it automatically signs me off, then I have to sign back in...all my info is always saved, (screen name, password). Any ideas?
View 2 Replies View RelatedAn issue with Outlook 2007 in combination with my Microsoft Exchange e-mail account was that it couldn't remember the password and I had to enter it every time I started Outlook. This was solved by adding a credential through 'control user passwords2', a workaround which can be found on several sites.
However, this doesn't seem to work anymore using Outlook 2010 with Windows 7. Or at least it seems to work different, but I can't get it to work. Outlook itself creates a generic credential in the form of MS.Outlook: USERNAME>@<EXCHANGESERVER>:PUT, but on another website I found the form MS.Outlook:<E-MAILADDRESS>@<EXCHANGESERVER>:PUT It also creates two Windows credentials, one with the username also as server and one with the correct exchange server, username and password. What should I add to make Outlook remember my password?
I also tried some other workarounds for previous versions of Outlook, but they all didn't work. I tried these: Stop Outlook/Outlook Express Asking For Your Password Every Time | Windows Vista | Windows Tools, Help & Guides Outlook 2007 won't save passwords in Vista...save password..

I have installed Outlook 2007 on a 2 year old HP slimline with Win7. The computer broke down and constantly was shutting itself off. We had 1 more month in warrantee. Hp took 2 attempts at sending people with different parts and finally fixed that problem (supposedly). Regardless I cannot install Outlook without constantly entering the password in order to send & to receive. I set up the commands the way mindspring.com ( which is under earthlink.net) says to do and even used to ports they say to use for smtp. I followed all their intructions to no avail. I even reinstalled it and no luck either. I can get my mail but I shouldn't be bothered with this. I read a lot about it and did the registry changes everyone reccomends.

View 5 Replies View RelatedJust got a new Windows 7 machine. Installed Word 2002 and Excel from my Office XP disks with no problem whatsoever. Once in a while text in my document will be highlighted and start flashing, and closing the document or stopping the program in task manager is the only thing that stops it. It might have to do with erroneous commands coming from my Dragon Naturally Speaking program, but I'm not sure.
Question: Is it likely that if I ran Word 2002 in Windows XP compatibility mode it might run a little better? I have Home Premium Windows 7 so I don't have the Windows XP MODE, but it's my understanding that I can run things in a compatibility mode, or are those the same things? I'm OK with it how it is but wouldn't mind eliminating this glitch.
I have just bought a new computer with Windows 7 Professional installed in it. However, I am trying to get my documents, pictures, and everything else to transfer over into the new computer. View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been using Outlook 2007 for a while with no problems. I used to select my account, and when the "Enter Network Password" box popped up it had the focus, so I would just immediately type in my password. I did a set of Windows and Office updates a couple of weeks ago, and now when that box pops up the focus is still on the main Outlook mail reader screen. I have to click the Password box to shift the focus so I can type in my password. Is there a way to restore this automatic focus for the Password panel when it pops up?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI use MS Word a lot. Whenever I want to do anything with my saved Word items, I click on Documents, click on my Word item I want and it opens up. Since I upgraded to Office Home and Student 2010, when I click on the Word item I want, a window opens up and asks me what program I want to use to open it up, 'Notepad' or 'Wordpad'. I want neither. I just want it to open up like it did before I upgraded.

In outlook 2003 I have some contacts which I added manually to address book so there should be an address book of some sort.
