No Video In Windows 7?
Dec 31, 2011
Were dealing with a Toshiba Satelite L455D-S5976 running windows 7 home premium. The issue in detail.Ran unspecified windows updates that required a reboot. On reboot I have bios, I have windows logo and animation, and just as the windows should be displaying the desktop the screen goes a sort of very bright black.I can toggle the caps lock lights on and off. I have tried to boot into safe mode but it does the exact same thing.I have tried last known good configuration but it does the same thing.I have tried hooking an external monitor to the VGA out and it does the same thing.I have tried to use the function keys to toggle brightness up, switch the video from LCD to VGA, been in the bios and reset factory defaults. All which end in exactly the same results, a sort of brightly lit black screen. As far as I can tell, windows is actually booted up. I just can't see it.I can't blame the LCD panel or the inverter because I have perfect brightness in bios, and the windows boot logo looks fine.

Why do video files in windows 7 always appear at least twice in the video folder? Deleting the surplus ones means that all (with the same name) vanish. I'd be grateful for the explanation that enables me to have just one of each.

I'm searching and searching for a free / opensource program that can convert most video formats (MOV, WMV, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 etc) to H.264 or vise versa. And with such options as data rate of 2000 / 5000 kbps but not limited to only that option.

I have AVS Video Converter and what I'm trying to do is download 1920x1080 (I don't want 720p) video clips, converting them from mp4 to wmv and setting them as my desktop background. I use this converter because it is the first converter I tried that gives me lossless conversion to wmv. My screen resolution is 1280x800.I use the 1920x1080 video and leave all the settings except for aspect ratio which I set to 16:9 and the resolution to encode the video at 1280x800.When I set it as my desktop background, the video is still 1920x1080 and if you compare the original to the desktop background, the video is "protruding" from the screen, so I can't see some areas.I've tried setting windows background to center, tile and all options but still nothing.

I am looking for a video editor that can split the video into parts (preferably free). Most of my vidoes are in the .wmv format and sizes range from a few mb up to 4 gb. In most circumstances, it would be used to remove the beginning and end of the video.

I have an old HP Proliant PC that I upgraded to Windows 7 Professional. There are only two PCI-X slots (one half height and the other full height). This is not PCI-Express or plain PCI.i need to add a video card to support a higher resolution monitor. There is an ATI Radeon 9200 PCI-X card out there, but it is not supported with Windows 7. Since this card type is more than 10 years old and operating systems have moved on, I need to know where to find a new PCI-X graphics card (or used) that will support higher resolution. If a standard PCI card will fit in the slot, will it work and what is the down side.no drivers for Windows 7 with PCI-X.

I recently built a new machine that I have three monitors for. When I only had two monitors I had this card installed: Newegg.com - PNY XLR8 VCG98GTEE5XEB GeForce 9800 GT EE 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
This card works perfectly fine and I had no issues with it and I plan to continue using it. However, now that I have three monitors and I need another video card I'm running into a lot of issues. I tried installing another PCIe 16 card I had lying around but my setup didn't seem to recognize the new card. I do not have the exact model number on that since it was given to me, but I believe it was a GeForce 6 series card. I also tried a PCI ATI Radeon card that I had laying around found here Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100945L-BK Radeon 7000 64MB 64-bit DDR PCI Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
This card showed up in the device manager as a Standard VGA adapater but in the properties it had an error saying "The device could not start".
So I guess my question is this: What is the cheapest way to get three monitors working on my windows 7 64 bit machine? I want to use the first card I linked to and one other one.
Would this card work? [URL] - PNY VCG84512SPEB GeForce 8400 GS 512MB 64-bit GDDR2 PCI Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
Here is my motherboard in case that'll help: ASRock > Products > M3A780GXH/128M

i have a toshiba satellite laptop l455d-s5976 with windows 7 home premium its only using 2.87 gb of 4 gb that i installed. it originally came with 2 gb. it uses a AMD sempron SI 42 2.10 ghz processor, i like to edit video and i thought getting more ram would help speed it up but i see that its not even using 3 gb of the 4. is there anyway to make it use more like 3 or so? because i read that i would have to get a 64 bit OS to use all the 4 gb.

When I was transferring mp4 videos from my laptop to my phone, Windows 7 was asking me if I want to convert them. That was a really good option, because they were running on my phone better than the mp4. But now that option is gone. So guys, can you tell me how should I enable this option again?

I have a Toshiba dual-core laptop that came with Vista. When the HD died I replaced it and installed Win7. Under Vista I could watch video and listen to music with no problems, but under Win7 I get stuttering, sporadic and unpredictable but often severe rendering the experience unacceptable. It happens with all software, but I notice it most with my preferred software VLC. It still happens with The KM Player but much less.

i have a question. i am running a quad screen set-up. i have been running windows 7 32-bit. with 2 video cards1 pci-e ati radeon hd 4350 now it was working great in windows 7 32-bit, but ever since i upgraded to windows 7-64 bit. its not working at 100%now i have been reading alot on this forum that alot of people have trouble getting the fx 5200 working. after trying many different drivers i finally was able to get it working. the only catch is that. i had to turn off aero and disable other aero features so it can run with better performance.but even after doing that. the ony problem i have is that videos such as in Internet. run slow seem to lag a little and worse when i put it on full screen.i figure its the card because its so old and its a pci card

Running a video as screensaver in Windows7 Some of you may have seen my posting in the Vista forum on how to run a video as screensaver [URL]. This method does not work in Windows7. There is, however, another method for Windows7 that accomplishes the same goal. For that you have to go via Windows Live Photo Gallery. If you do not have it yet on your system, download it from Windows Live Essentials[URL]). Then do the following steps: Open Live Essentials Photo Gallery Click on File Click on > Screen Saver Settings (This will open the Screen Saver Settings) Browse to your folder with the video and open it (OK) In the Use this theme list box, select Album Then do Save Now run Preview and see whether it works Remind you that the video format must be .wmv. If you have another format, convert it with Format factory [URL]

I just built a new gaming rig with 8gigs of RAM. I made the mistake of installing WinXP Pro x32 on it. I find out that 32 bit OS's can't access 8 gigs of RAM, so I went and bought an OEM Win7 64 bit disk. Come to find out now, Win7 x64 doesn't play well with many HDTV's. Something about they changed the instruction in Win7 to not allow for overriding something called the EDID signal from the HDTV. So now I'm screwed again. Now I got 8gigs of RAM but no video. Great. What now?
I need to go and buy a third OS that will work this time? WinXP Pro x64? Yeah, it's not the video card, the video card drivers, or the TV. It all worked just fine with WinXP Pro x32 installed. And all the cables are plugged in tightly. Win7 x64 will output video signal to a generic VGA monitor. If I set the resolution to like 1024 x 768 or something then swap the VGA cable from the VGA monitor to the HDTV I get video signal. As soon as I reboot, no video signal. I get video for the post screen and the Win7 startup screen.
As soon as it trys to boot into the desktop, no video signal. My AKAI TV only says "Not Support". Win7 will not get past the HDTV EDID handshake. Win7 sucks. Now I find myself looking at the Windows web site HDTV "compatibility list" for Win7. Like trying to work my life around bill gates and his crappy software. Serving Windows instead of it serving me. When will those people ever get it right again after WinXP? Any workaround that will make Win7 override the HDTV EDID handshake?

I have been having this very annoying problem for over 2 months now. I'm running windows 7 ultimate 64-bit and Most video on my pc looks very pixelated. I was able to get vlc to work correctly again with an update to the latest version and wmp seems to work fine too. I'm still having very low quailty video in my slingplayer, skype video and certain flash videos on the internet. I have been searching google for any possible solution like using an older video card driver, a vista driver, and adding codec's but nothing seems to work. I'm not really sure if it's an Nvidia, windows, or a flash problem.
my specs
intel core 2 quad q6600
4gb ddr2 ram
soundblaster xi-fi extreme gamer
2 nvidia 8800gts cards in sli
my pc has 2 monitors plugged into it and i'm using ultramon I also have my cpu oc'd to 3ghz, so i put it back to stock speeds and still have the poor video qaulity so that wasn't it.
