Yesterday I did the full install of windows 7 from XP, I ran the windows update and recieved an update for my realtek sound card along with about 8 other updates, my speakers work fine from the rear jack but when i plug in my headphones into the front jacks nothing happens i dont even get a recognition of them being plugged in and there is no headphones icon in the playback devices tab, it shows the speaker icon and the Realtek hi defintion audio device icon only.
Can anyone please give me an idea as to how I can enable my headphones through the front jacks?
On the bottom right of the desktop on Windows 76, the notification icon for internet usually shows the disconnected icon or the no access icon. I'm still connected to the internet though and when I click on the icon, it opens up to show my connection (that is working). Why is it doing this? I've tried googling it, no use. It's not really a big deal, but knowing if I'm connected without having to click on the icon is nice.
Whenever I single left click on an icon, file, or folder a repetitive popup appears asking if I want to send whatever I clicked on to the recycle bin. The item is sent to the recycle bin regardless.
On my desktop and quick start bar the icon for MS Word is only showing a generic picture. The shortcut is working. All the rest of the MS Office shortcuts have the right icon pictures.I'm running Win 7 Home edition and MS office 2010.
someone clicked on my bluetooth icon by mistake and it has disappeared from the taskbar area. It is still in the add and remove programs area but there is not option to repair.I use it regularly to upload my pictures from my phone so am desperate to have it back. I have a Dell Inspiron notebook and am using windows 7.
I installed a wireless laser printer. To install...you must connect locally with a USB cable to enter the wireless network's password. This process installed a printer locally and the associated icon was the correct icon. I then set it up wirelessly and when it completed...the icon looked like a fax machine.
The icon I want to use exists somewhere.
1) How do I tell what icon is being used for a device
2) How do I specify the icon I want to use for a device.
my notebook desktop icon all change to Microsoft word icon also the extensions change to LNK file (.lnk) except my computer and recycle bin icon, I used windows 7 ultimate x64?
just got my new pc hooked up. and everything is working fine. except the volume. i can hear but its not very loud. i tried going into the settings but nothing i do makes it louder. it dont have a sound card. but it still has realtek hd audio. i even went in that settings but i didnt see any place to where i can boost the volume.
i have standard 3.5mm jack headphones and sound only plays out of my laptop speakers when its plugged in. i think some preinstalled dell software manages audio if that makes a difference
i plug in my headphones to my laptop the sound still plays like in the speakers instead of my headphones. i dont think theres something wrong with the headphone plug cause the laptop is only 3 months old.... i have a HP dm4-2050us...
win xp was pre-installed on my pc. but last month i got a cd of win 7 from my friend and i installed win 7 on my pc. after installing everything is working fine i got no problem. speakers audio video devices are all working good. but headphones are not working?
I have Windows 7 64 bit and when I boot up windows without headphones plugged in, the sound works fine through the speakers but when I plug in the headphones they do not work. If I unplug the headphones, the sound starts coming out of the speakers. I have tried manually switching devices but that didn't work either and if I try to adjust volume the sound mixer crashes.
I just have integrated audio (device manager lists it as High Definition Audio Device and IDT High Definition Audio CODEC).
If I plug in the headphones and then start the laptop, the sound works fine through the headphones.
I have one hard drive that I multi-boot with XP and 7. Headphones work fine. Other hard drive is just Windows 7 and headphones don't work (speakers work fine). I have tried unplugging and plugging them in: search for new hardware and rebooting many times, all with no luck.
When I go into "sound" in control panel and unplug my speakers it tells me that there is no audio device attached (this doesn't happen on my dual boot drive) and when I try to add a new device, it searches endlessly for new devices and not only never stops, but never finds any devices.
Don't know if it matters since all of my hardware works when I use the dual boot drive, but I have a Dell XPS 720 aand an X-fi PCI sound card although the headphones plug into the front panel of the computer, not the sound card (yes I tried plugging directly into the sound card).
My laptop has 2 headphone jacks on the side. But since I installed Windows 7 I can't use both of them at the same time, instead I can only hear sound out of the first one that was plugged in. I don't want seperate audio coming from them, I want the same, so I don't see why there is a problem.
My wife (Stephanie) yesterday was saying she would like to get her self a new set of Headphones, at present she has Sennheiser HD 228 and they cost around £50 / $82 but are getting a bit tatty now, so my question is can any members suggest a good set of Headphones that they would recommend using with Windows 7 for around the same price ?
I guess I should start by saying I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate x86.I got a pair of LG HBS700 Bluetooth Headphones for Christmas and couldn't wait to pair them up to my Windows 7 Home Theater PC so I could watch movies after my wife has gone to bed w/o disturbing her.My first problem was I had no bluetooth adapter for the HTPC so I went and purchased a Targus Bluetooth 4.0 Bluetooth Adapter.Thought I had it all squared away. I installed the latest drivers for the Bluetooth Adapter I had purchased and was on my merry way.Went to the control panel, choose to add a bluetooth device after putting the headset in pairing mode and much to my dismay, Windows 7 can't seem to find the headset... I know the head set works because I'm able to pair it with my cell phone.
I tried searching for the solution to this problem but even after installing the realtek drivers, i still get that issue of no speakers or headphones.Below is information about the onboad sound.

I had not used my desktop for one week due to some problem of too much dust accumlating in the machine. Due to this the system would not power up. After the dust was removed, system powers up but i now get this problem with sound. Before this everything was fine. The speakers work fine on the laptop.I installed the drivers from the motherboard driver disc. I am using a gigabyte board (GA-G31M-ES2L).I have installed the drivers directly from the gigabyte website for my motherboard as well as from the realtek website. Also updated bios online from gigabyte server. But none of these methods causes sound to be restored.Theres no exclamation mark by the audio drivers in Device Manager. I have removed the audio drivers and after a restart, i still get the "no speakers or headphones are plugged in" error on the speaker icon.In device manager after restarting the system, i get the "high definition audio" device listed under "Sound, video and game controllers".Now i am wondering there is something wrong with the motherboard.
I have Bluetooth headphones that I have been using with my desktop Windows 7 machine successfully for about one year. Now all the sudden without my having changed anything, I get no sound out of them. When I turn them on, Windows recognizes them and shows that they are connected, but when I play audio, the sound comes out of my desk speakers and not the headphones. The headphones work correctly with my laptop.
Just tried a pair of Speedlink Medusa 5.1 Headphones with Windows 7. They work for about 10-20 seconds and then the machine blue screens.Hopefully someone from Speedlink will spot this and sort out some drivers
