Mar 13, 2012My old computer was getting old, so I went ahead and ordered new parts from Newegg. HAF 912 case, GTX 560 Ti, Phenom II x4 975, 8 gigs G.Skill (2 x 4) 1333 DDR3, and a Biostar A880G+ mATX motherboard, and Windows 7 Home Premium OEM (in case). I planned on using the same HDD from my old system in the new one, so I didn't order a new one. Well, I built it, everything went smooth, it POSTed with one beep and the BIOS was fine. However, when I tried to boot from my drive, it would give a System Error screen, with either Repair Computer (or something similar) and Start Windows Normally. If I click Repair Computer, it stays that way for upwards of 30 minutes, not doing a thing. If I start Windows normally, the logo flashes for a second or two and BSoD's real quick, and shuts down before I can even see anything. Then it restarts and goes to the System Error screen. Then, when I take my HDD and put it in my old system, it boots up same as is always does. That's how I'm typing here.
I've also tried changing the boot order so that the Windows 7 disc is first, but it just goes to Set Up, which is, I'm guessing, not what I want to happen.I'm hoping that it's a really simple mistake on my part, and that I messed up on something super easy, because I don't want to have to send back any parts.

i have done a memtest and it was successful without fail also this is the 3rd time I have done a clean install before was cause of ntoskrnl.exe so did a clean install now its cause of win32k.sys?

everyone of my webcam apps (yahoo messenger, fwink, webcamXP, everyone of them had the upside down video complex. it doesn't happen to me in vista - i dual boot on this asus G50Vt. all the latest drivers and every thing's up to date, as far as devices go.

Jun 9, 2012Looking at buying a new PSU as mine is only 375 watts and am adding new components. With a lot of the newer psu's the fan is on the top of the unit and not the back like mine. As I have no way to mount the psu at the top of the case (my case and board are both btx). I also have no vent holes at the top of the case. So am I able to mount it at the top with the fan blowing down? Will this cause any heat or ventilation issues in the case itself?

When I boot up from the CD it asks if I want to use 'Launch Startup Repair' facility but the keyboard is inoperative so it starts by default. Then I get a blue screen with varying shades of blue (no text) and that's as far as it gets. Prior to this it was working fine. I have had Norton 360 installed for about a month and prior to that Bitdefender Internet Security. I'd be happy to just re-install the OS if I could get that far.

Jan 15, 2013I have a desktop computer. It has a phenom x6 1045t, 4 gigs of ram, an hd 6870, and a 530 watt psu, running windows 7. A month ago, it was running perfectly here in my dorm room. I went on winter break and drove it home with me. It was running perfectly there, too. I have just come back to school from winter break and I cannot get it to start properly. Literally NOTHING has changed with the hardware since about 4 months ago, when I first upgraded my video card to the 6870. It is plugged into the same surge protector in the same outlet it was a month ago, when it was last here. Here's what happens when I try to start it: It goes through the initial ASUS booting screen, then onto the starting windows screen. Then, out of nowhere, my monitor says it's "going to sleep," the lights on my keyboard flash, and it restarts the booting cycle. However, if I tell it to boot into safe mode, it starts without any issues. I need some help identifying the problem here. My first thought was a power issue, but again, it worked fine a few days ago, and it was working fine in these outlets before. I was very gentle in the move, so i doubt the PSU was damaged. The fans are all spinning and the LEDs still come on. Hard drive must be fine, otherwise it wouldn't work in safe mode. Ran a memory test, RAM is fine too.
Additional info: Actually, it successfully started yesterday too, in my dorm room. I used it for about half an hour then let it hibernate, and only now am I having issues. Also, the fan on my video card was going crazy, but after I re-seated it, it calmed down. I rechecked all the wiring as well and everything seems fine.
Dell Desktop Wont Start

Dec 26, 2012This morning I powered the computer following the Christmas break (Windows 7 64 bit). The screen displayed the backgorund colour only, not a black screen. There was no desktop, icons or start menu. The keyboard did not function; could not start Task Manager. Pressed the Windows key + f5; no response. Pointer shows and moves with mouse but no mouse functionality.
I rebooted in safe mode and the system was restored with limited Safe Mode functionality. I ran ESET virus scan; no viruses found. I rebooted; no change. I attempted to do a System Restore to earlier this morning prior to a Windows update install dated 2012-12-26: 729 EST. No change. I attempted to restore to an earlier restore point last week; no change. I am currently running CHKDSK /R in order to verify that there are no disk problems. I have all data files backed up but do not have a disk image.
I cannot download TSG SysInfo until I get the desktop back.
Super-slow Start-up On New Dell 660 Desktop?

May 15, 2012my Windows 7 machine is acting strangely, here are my symptoms:personalization missing from login box desktop icons have no text beneath them, some apps won't start text in menus has disappeared dialog boxes have no text can't access start menu, therefore unable to run cmd as admin screenshot similar to mine except my start menu doesn't come up I've run sfc /scannow, it says no problems found.I do have Vista on a separate partition that I can boot from. All Icons In Start Menu And Desktop Are Showing Blank
Dec 11, 2011Just upgraded WIndows Vista to Windows 7 from a download. The installation appeared to be fine but all of the icons on the desktop have lost their pictures and none of the start menu icons are showing any design nor do they work. I've tried deleting the icon cache and restarting but that hasn't worked.
