So after testing a few useless screen capture softwares I downloaded microsoft expression encoder 4 screen capture. The problem is that it puts out massive screen capture video files. On a 15-20 sec screen capture it produces a 17.4MB file. And here is the confusing part when I choose a lower birate but same frame rate the video is choppy and unwatchable but I have to select 30000kbps opposed to like 500kbps for it to produce a smooth video. Does tweaking the frame rate/quality rate and also bitrate produce smaller file sizes or am do I have to find another screen capture software that captures a decent video quality with audio and average file size?
Screen Hunter is a screen capture application (freeware) that works off mouse click or hot key, you can edit the capture before saving captures are Rectangular Sizable, Active Window Full Screen, and has a timer delay (great for capturing drop downs etc). I am curious, Mac's have a feature I saw someone at work use where you can capture a screen shot by dragging out a square (I think they used Cmd+Shift+4 or something) and saving the image inside the square as a capture - Does Windows 7 have anything like that? Or is there an app I can download to allow me to do that?
i have been teaching people how to start 3d developing, and have recently gotten into BF3 and medal of honor.i absolutely love gaming, and back when UT2k4 was big i liked to record vids of me playing. unfortunatly medal of honor and BF3 slow down to a whopping 2FPS when using Fraps, X Fire, and 1 with camtasia.i need somthing 3d party that i can have a DVI-D in ,DVI-D out and a usb out to gather the vid when im done.ultimately id like to be able to record full 1080p at full 60-70 fps
I'm looking for a free screen capture program with the following requirements:Free and not a trial version Can record the screen at any time (not just in game like fraps) I have windows 7 professional.
I have recently installed Windows 7 on my PC. I went to reinstall my required software but I have lost the product key to my Windows Expression Studio 3.Is there any way of recovering this from the old.windows file? Failing that, is there anyway of recovering it at all?
I am attempting to install "Screen Recorder" from MS. When I do I get this msg, stating that it (Screen Recorder) requires Windows Media Encoder 9 64 bit version (I am running Win 7 HP 64 bit), to work, and asks if I would like to install it first. So I select yes, then the install package for Windows Media Encoder 9 64 bit gives me a "Software Compatablity" warning stating that it is not recommended that I have both the 32 bit version and the 64 bit version installed on the same computer. My question is; how do I know if I have the 32 bit version installed, I can't seem to find it anywhere, and am not sure if I do. I don't remember installing it, and I can't find it in Control Panel, Program Features?
I want to capture screen flow in video or image on windows 7 64 bits system, with NVidia Quadro 600 graphic card (driver is up to date). I use lib vlc for video capture, or "print screen" button for image capture. When I try to capture a fullscreen opengl application, or a QML application, or WPF application, the captured image is black. It seems that graphic card content can't be acquired. It is the same for each computer which is under windows 7. This manipulation worked on windows XP.
Question: What are the changes on screen capturing between windows XP and windows 7? Is there any option to activate in system? Is there any software which could work (with an API)?
My Pc is working 100%, except for this annoying problem.when i hit print screen, go to paint and save it as png it shows 100% crisp and high resolution 1900*1200 If i edit the pic saved on my desktop in paint or photoshop it show perfect. but if i open it with windows 7 photo viewer or live gallery the dpi is very poor and the lettters are obscure.i right clicked the file and went to file details , i picked up paint does not store the dpi of the print screen on the file.all the other normal photos and images display perfect in photo viewer except the screen captures
Microsoft’s latest round of security patches appears to be causing some PCs to seize up and display a black screen, rendering the computer useless. The problem affects Microsoft products including Windows 7, Vista, and XP operating systems, said the CEO and CTO for the U.K. security company Prevx. Prevx was alerted to the problem by users of its security software last week, the CEO said.
Microsoft apparently made changes to the Access Control List (ACL), a list of permissions for a logged-on user. The ACL interacts with registry keys, creating visible desktop features such as a sidebar. However, the latest patches appear to make some changes to those registry keys. The effect is that some installed applications are not aware of the changes and do not run properly, causing a black screen. Security applications seem to be particularly affected. The CEO said users of other security products have also complained about the issue, even going so far as trying to reinstall the operating system to fix it.
Prevx has released software that fixes the registry to match the ACL settings, which should resolve the problem, the CEO said. Users could do this on their own by modifying their registry settings, but making alterations to those settings is risky since it can severely affect how the operating system runs. The CEO said Microsoft was likely just trying to fortify the security of the operating systems when it inadvertently made the error in its patches.

I am taking an online college course. When answering questions we were advised to first type our answers into micrsoft word and then copy and paste into the website. The school website only has basic spell check that is the reason for copy and pasting.I have Word 2010 and Windows 7.
i usually record PC games using fraps and it got me thinking to how do people record console footage and then put it on the computer. The problem is i dont know the first thing about gaming capture cards and how they work, i do know however that some of them are PCI cards.
1. if a console is connected to a T.V how is the footage captured from the console to a PC?
2. Does using capture cards also provide audio or do you need certain cables (3.5 jacks, hdmis, etc)
I've got a Dell laptop that has to be returned for a refund and I was wondering how to transfer my bookmarks over to a thumbdrive? I want to have them ready so I can put them on my new laptop when I decide what I'm getting.
Looking for suggestions. Would be great if the program was FREE !I'm using a Diamond VC 600. The included program seems very rough.although quite a few formats are available. The end product is less than I expected
I upgraded from XP to 7 about a year or so ago, and just noticed that the few home DV videos I captured since then were in AVI format, and about 12 GB each, compared to the former ones on XP which were WMV and not quite 1GB each. I have tried in vain to set the automatic capture on Windows Movie Maker to WMV as default, but it doesn't seem to allow it. These AVI files are just too big for my storage space over time.

I could hold down the Fn key, a large black bar with symbols in it would drop down from the top edge of the screen, I never paid much attention to what was in that, but then I would hit the Prtsc button. Then when I pasted it into Paint, it was ONLY the active window. Now when I hit the Fn key, the black bar does not drop down and when I hit the Prtsc button the entire screen is copied, not just the active window. I really want this ability back. Any ideas on how to get it to function againmorlaine morlaine has chosen the best answer to his/her question.Click here to view the answer that was selected.
If I try to grab text in a website window and move the mouse down while keeping the mouse Left button depress, the window will not scroll upward. I have to manually press the down arrow key to continue my text grab or selection. Can this be reversed?
I've been using the Fire-shot add-on for my Firefox browser.Last evening, I discovered that the Waterfox (variant of Firefox) browser that I downloaded (because my OS is 64-bit) is not compatible with the Fireshot add-on, so now the Fireshot add-on doesn't work. Does anyone know of a 64-bit capture and annotate add-on (with characteristics like those of Fireshot) for the Waterfox browser? I really liked this add-on in Firefox, but I'd much rather have a more compatible 64-bit browser (Waterfox) than this add-on for a 32-bit browser.
Have one of these QMB Computers-Quality made better and everything installs except the video capture driver. Was running successfully on XP previously. Are there compatible Windows 7 64 bit drivers for this?
I regularly video sports events with my Canon Legria HFS10 and download the results to my Dell Inspiron 1545 which has Windows 7 home edition 64 bit. Problem is that I'm limited to 3 hours full HD capture on camera and usually the event goes on longer than that without breaks. Is there a way I can capture from camera to PC while still recording the event, because there is no pause long enough to do a download during the event? The cam has a component out and HDMI out. Full HD quality is important.
