Messenger Live Remote Assistance Causes WLM To Disconnect?
May 8, 2011
I am trying to use WLM RA to connect to another W7 PC. Occasionally it works OK but usually when I accept the invite WLM disconnects me and brings up a box telling me it will reconnect in X seconds. If I keeping getting the other PC to send invites it might eventually work but it may take 50+ attempts, sometimes I just give up.
Whenever I use Live Mesh, it locks the computerand quits Windows Media Center. Is there anyway of setting it so that I can log out with WMC running and the computer unlocked?
I had a question concerning the remote desktop assistance on windows 7. I noticed that it was enabled today and I was wondering if windows 7 enables it by default or if someone had to enable it. My friend told me that hackers can get on to your computer through this so I was concerned but wouldn't I have to allow them access to my computer? I was wondering also if downloading things off the internet could have enabled it?
i have a problem on my PC with Remote Assistance.i work in the end user support so i need to use it alote.the problem is that when ever i use the remote assistance my PC totaly disconnects from the internet!
I have two pc's: my main one and my HTPC. I cant afford to get my remote yet so i want to setup remote desktop assistant in a way where i can connect when ever i want without worrying about the license.is there anyway to set this up? Both computers are on my network.I don't want to use remote desktop because i don't want it to log the htpc out, since it will be used to watch movies and all.
When using Remote assistance in windows 7 it shows a list(albeit a small one) of past addresses(ip or computername) that you have logged into. Problem is it is numeric/alphabetic order. Is there a registry setting I can change so it will show me this History in chronological order?
I am trying to set it up so I can use remote assistance for a Win7 Home PC and the user not have to know the admin password to allow it. I am trying to look down a teens PC so they have to go to me for installs.
But it seems when I try to do RA they have to know the admin password at the actual computer, is there anyway to make it so RA does not prompt for it?
I am on Win 7 Ultimate and my messenger kept logging out every 40 seconds or so. After I logged in,my contact list would be different each time.(I am confident that my friends did not come and go at the time.) For around 40 seconds, I would be able to open chat windows, type them a message, and it will then bounce back.Shortly after that I'd be logged off and it'll reconnect. After 6-20 times of logging in and out desperately, it would then magically log back with the correct contact list and it would stop disconnecting.
I have tried reinstall Live Messenger(6 times), checked the 'Sign me out of all other places when I sign in' box in option. I have reinstall Win 7 too many times it consumed all my free time and now my social life(MSN) is about over...
Roughly a week ago for an unknown reason I became unable to log into Windows Live Messenger 2012.Up until this point I was using 2012 just fine. If I uninstall and install 2011 I can sign in fine, which seems to rule out firewall/antivirus issues. I can log in with my account on the web and other devices. If I re-install 2012I've tried virtually every process listed on the Internet and cannot resolve this. Worse, the error message has changed as I try different fixes. Currently it is 800706be. I've completely deleted Windows Essentials multiple times and always get the same issueMalwareBytes and Kaspersky scan comes back clean.
I've not used messenger since I installed Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, but now I want to I can't. For some reason, even though it appears to be up and running with me logged in fine, it won't show me any IM's received or made. If I hover over the icon in the taskbar, I can see I have a conversation window open, but if I click on it, nothing happens. I can see the main page no problem, but never any conversation window.
I use both yahoo and live for messaging. When Live is connected it stays open in the taskbar even when the window is closed which makes it easy to navigate and change status since i keep it pinned to the taskbar. Is there a way to do so with Yahoo? With the new yahoo there's a dot on the icon to show your status if you're online or away etc... It'd be nice if i could make Yahoo function the same way as Live does when I'm logged in. So my main question is, is there any way to close Yahoo to the taskbar rather than the system tray?
I have a new win 7 64 bit computer. I hae windows live messenger 2011 installed. I have it set up to sign in automatically, but when I start the computer or re-boot, it comes back to the sign in screen and the "sign in automatically box in not checked" There fore,it will not sign in automatically. I have searched every thing I know how to check and nothing helps. Is this fixable?
i can see it with a software is there a program to encrypt the password and how can i remove windows live messenger password from system the password stored because i used onenote and sync and it asked for hotmail username and password and now its stored?
not sure if this has been posted already but WLM is being replaced with SKYPE as from Mar 2013.I know a lot of Ms Office users use Windows Live Messenger (although LYNC seems good if you can connect to a server) BBC News - Microsoft ditches Windows Live Messenger for Skype
I have Windows 7 familly premium 64bits and running live messenger ver. 2011 ( built 15.4.3555.308) I dont want to start the progam with windows startup, so :
When i start program, the login window go minimize on the taskbar. I have to open it to select account and login. It should open directly on desktop and let me select account. I did try to change compatibily and it's doesent work.
So Windows 7 has a feature that will auto-adjust the volume during video chatting. Seems like a good idea but in reality it just brings down the volume to a point to where I cant even hear the person. I have done some research on this but everything I could find said to go to Sound Settings -> Communications Tab -> and check the box that says "Do Nothing".I did this but it had no effect on Live Messenger. I downloaded Yahoo Messenger and it doesn't have this audio problem. I would much rather use Live Messenger because the video quality is MUCH better than other video chatting programs but I cant seem to get passed this problem.
I think it would be a good idea for the Windows Live Mail taskbar to have the option in settings to blink when you have an unread e-mail, just like Windows Live Messenger does when a contact sends you a message.
It just keeps freezing for no particular reason, it doesn't shows any kind of error, I can still see the webcam image, animations from emoticons, the ellipsis when my contact is typing a message and I still can hear the microphone sound coming from my friend during a call. But I can't type, I can't click and highlight MSN's window and I also can't see the messages I recieve from my contact, It just freezes for about five minutes, and then comes back like nothing ever happened. I've already changed my LAN Settings on IE to do not automatically detect LAN Settings.
Move Live Messenger Icon to the System Tray in Windows 7. If you've made the switch to Windows 7 and use Windows Live Messenger, you might have noticed the icon stays in the new Taskbar. If you are annoyed by this and would rather see it in the System Tray (notification area), just follow this simple process. Show Messenger Icon in Notification Area. When you close out or minimize Messenger it will reside in the new Taskbar. [URL]. To make it act like it did in previous versions of Windows, right-click on the Windows Live Messenger icon and go to Properties.
In the example above I created an icon on the desktop but you can also do the same thing with the icon in the start menu. Then go to the Compatibility tab and run it in Windows Vista compatibility mode. The icon might be hidden in the notification area though. You just need to customize the Notification Area Icons and have it Show icon and notifications. [URL]. Thats it! Now you have your Messenger icon back where it used to be. [URL].
As the title suggests I cannot see my chat partners display pics. I cannot see mine neither but they can see mine apparently.I have been to the App Data folder and deleted contacts thing in there also the display pics folder in there and it made no difference at all.On the list of contacts images are shown fine.I am using Build 15.4 as the very newest one would just show a white window when someone messaged me and all that would be shown besides whiteness was an ad
My PC runs on Windows 7 OS. I've installed the Windows Live Essentials but MSN Messenger and Live Mail programs are missing from the Start Menu though the installer stated that these 2 programs are already installed on my pc. I browsed to the Programs folder but can't locate any folders on MSN Messenger either. There is a folder for Live Mail though. However, I can't find any .exe file inside that folder which I can use to create a shortcut to my desktop. Had reinstalled the latest Live Essentials package umpteen times but problem remain unsolved.
Can anyone suggest me a fix for the WL messenger problem. When I want to sign in, I tipe in my address and password and when I click on the sign in button I have to wait somewhere 30-60 seconds till it succesfully signs me in.
I have just bought an Acer laptop running windows 7 home premium 64bit. However, when running the preinstalled Windows Live Messenger 2011 on this system, special characters such as ☺ or ♫ do not show up correctly in the chat window, instead appearing as a blank box. They do however show up in the contact list for contacts that have such characters in their names or messages.
