View 8 Replies View RelatedAfter starting Windows 7, the system is setting up the network connection (blue circle on network sign). I bought my Dell computer 2 weeks ago. It was very fast until this weekend. Starting up takes 10-15 minutes. When the network is found everything works fine again.During the network searching it is possible to access internet by Chrome. IE and Firefox are not working.
- I tried to fix this by enabling all the non-windows related services, but no changes.
- I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver of my network card, with no success.
I'm running Windows 7 Pro 32-bit on an ASUS laptop with a Realtek PCIe Gigabit Ethernet LAN. Every time I restart my computer the LAN connects to "linksys10" (the router it I want it to connect to) AND "Unidentified network". Both connections say Internet access, however I cannot get on-line until I go to the adapter settings>disable the LAN>then enable it again, then it connects only to the "linksys10" network and the Internet works fine.
The router I am connecting to is a Linksys WRT54GS (security disabled, SSID hidden). I have tried power cycling the router too.
It's very annoying to have to disable and enable the LAN device upon every startup. I tried uninstalling the device, then rebooting and have windows install the driver again for me. This did not work.
Then I downloaded the updated driver for windows 7 from the Realtek website, installed it, reboot my system, but I still have the same problem. I have no idea why it's connecting to two networks on startup.
Whenever I boot up or disable/enable a network adapter it takes 1-3 minutes before I actually connect. After waiting, I'll see the little round circle spinning in the system tray and then i'm able to connect. While waiting for my adapter to work I noticed under tcp/ip settings that my gateway field is blank. If I put it in and go back, it's still blank. When the adapter finally connects it then shows up in the gateway field.Tried uninstalling AV, different drivers for LAN and wireless and reloading OS.
View 7 Replies View RelatedRandomly, on start-up, my internet browsers and networks do not work properly if at all.The things I notice is:It's always on system start-up.Network manager icon on right side of task bar freezes with "loading" icon.No error messages
-Unable to access network manager
-Unable to access network adapters control panel
-Unable to use internet browsers
Sometimes it will fix fix itself after a long time, but I usually just do a restart and that works.Closing Firefox, steam, and other useless services in task manager during problem does not help disconnecting the LAN cable does not help, sometimes non-internet programs will fail to start during problem.
Is this normal in Windows 7? Im running q 64bit system with a linksys WAG320N router but I want my internet to start up quicker. Is there a setting I can change to achieve.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi have a 7 series samsung laptop, I can make my own "custom" power plan, or even set it on balanced or anything, and when i shut computer down(doing it properly), and start it up, the power plan is back on "Samsung Eco Mode". I'm not sure if THIS eco mode is what is then turning off the network card, but also when i start, the internet is connected for about 5 seconds, then disconnected....adding another piece to the puzzle there is a program installed from the factory called "Easy Settings" and when i open that, network card is in "off" position, i turn it on and instantly have internet again. This easy settings program is on my list of programs i can uninstall, but im not sure if its whats reverting settings or not, getting to be verrry annoyed with opening 6 menus everytime i start-up to get everything the way i want it again. actually also i have heard these samsung laptops come w.lots of fluff programs that arent needed, if anyone knows MORE of these i can uninstall thatd be amazing.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently built me a new pc. Everything went fine and I managed to install windows 7 64 bit. Couple of days later, I needed to re-install windows again. So I changed the bios so that it would recognise the dvd drive and boot the windows cd. However, this doesn't seem to happen. Once windows is installed, the Sata drive is recognised in windows and is usable. I managed to get a workaround by using an ide dvd drive to install windows but I would like to be able to use the Sata drive that I have put in the machine.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOn startup, I get the message shown below. If I open Explorer the network drive is shown with a red "X" through it. If I click the network drive, it connects and displays the contents without an issue. If I run any application that needs files on that drive before clicking it in Explorer, it will say the resource is unavailable.
What appears to be happening is Windows tries to reconnect to the drive before the network connection is reestablished. I believe this to be the case because the network icon in the system tray is still showing the animation for establishing the network connection when the message pop's up. There is no issue with authentication or password's, etc., as the drive connects as soon as I click on it.
My question is, does anybody know of a way to set the mapped drive reconnection farther back in the boot sequence or add a longer wait state to it so it doesn't time out before the network connection is reestablished.?
I have a Windows 7 computer, and occasionally when I turn it on, it will use 100% of the hard drive for several minutes. (I have a Drives Meter sidebar gadget that shows drive activity). How can I troubleshoot this and find out its cause?
View 9 Replies View RelatedThe screen cracked on my old laptop and my insurance decided it would be cheaper to give me a new one as opposed to fixing it. The new laptop arrived today, along with the hard drive from my old one. I thought it would be simply a case of opening the new laptop up, taking out the hard drive and putting in my old one (note: I turned on the laptop with it's new hard drive first to make sure it worked ok).
However, after doing this and turning on the laptop, I am faced a message saying "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.". I am given 2 options, Launch Startup Repair or Start Windows Normally. Clicking Start Windows Normally just brings me back to the same screen, and I've tried running the startup repair several times to no avail. Following the instructions at Startup Repair Infinite Loop Recovery also does not solve the problem.
I have my pc configured for music production. I have multiple drives installed (6 in total). The issue is this : the boot drive where windows 7 is installed is OK , but windows boot process freezes at the startup logo screen and does not go past this stage. After investigation I found out that when one of the other drives is faulty. Windows does not boot. If you disconnect the faulty drive .. then windows BOOTS normally.
No message is displayed during the windows startup phase. Is there a way to configure windows such that It ignores the bad drive at startup. It seems that windows waits for the drive indefinitely and jams there not timing up after some time.
When I started my pc no D drive. Its not showing up. Only c and dell media direct on the picture
System Dell
Windows 7 OS
I have two partition, the c: and d: and I previously installed one windows 7 os on both c: and d:, I had then the choice to chose between the two on the startup, then what I did is restoring my c: drive to a image that didn't know it had another os on the d: so my os selection do not appear anymore on the startup screen. Is there any way to addup the choice to chose between the os on the c: and the os on the d: again via editing my current boot.ini?

I've been stuck on the startup repair for almost 5 hours saying that it's repairing my hard drive or whatever (i forget exactly what it said), I first booted linux to check the SMART data on the HDD (i now know that I can do it with HBCD too) it came back all fine. I am now running Hirens Boot CD and DRevitalise to scan and repair bad sectors.
System Specs:
i5 3570k @ stock
MSI Z77 GD55 BIOS Version 1.6
8GB Kingston HyperX 1600mhz
Running HD4000 graphics
500GB Blue WD HDD
I do have a DxDiag on the desktop of the pc in question which I could get if needed (to tired to do now)
Edit: Reinstalling is not an option I will consider unless there is nothing else that I can do.
Edit: Turns out there is a tool from WD for HDD testing, am running that now instead if the last one.
My pc is a stock Asus G53SX-A1, no hardware changes. Yet it says the reason I got a blue screen was due to hardware changes. My computer froze and rebooted during a video game. So I have been experiencing the classic startup repair loop and I tried everything I could find on google without progress. When I try to the option to fix the problem automatically it says it wasn't able to help and tells me the root cause is because there is no hard drive detected, and that if a hard drive is installed it is not responding. I can't detect in command prompt, but somehow I can see contents of it through BIOS so its really odd. When I tried to reinstall windows it says it can't find a hard drive to install on and I need to insert a drivers disk so I can set up the hard drive to continue. So I put in my Asus drivers disk and yet it tells me there's no drivers detected. I looked at the Asus website and all the downloads they have available are the same as on that same drivers disk it said it couldn't find drivers on. So right now my main problem is my pc doesn't detect that I have a hard drive at all even though I do, the same one the pc came with. This laptop has worked fine for almost a year and this issue just came out of nowhere, so any ideas as to why my HD would suddenly disappear in my computers eyes?
View 9 Replies View Relatedi just bought an external HD drive and it's very good but ... When I attach my external hard drive start up becomes painfully slow , like at least 5 times slower !. I get past the BIOS load screen fine but once the computer gets to the Starting Windows screen it sits there for a good 30-60 seconds. Then when the screen goes black (as it's going from the "starting windows" screen with the little windows 7 icon to the login screen) it again sits for anywhere from 1-2minutes, if not longer.i have an old external HD and I've been using it for 2 years and never had this problem !another thing when i click on " safely remove the HD " before i reboot and without taking the usb off the computer just stats normally !
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a External USB Drive that is Networked as a Network Drive, Windows7 will not allow me to disconnect the drive. The only option Seagate gave was to make sure the drive was not indexing which it's not, my goal is to disconnect the drive, connect it to another computer etc Followed by reconnecting it back to the previous computer and it continues on as a network drive or if I connect it to another computer it continues to act as network drive. Seagate told me that I'd have to purchase their NAS drive which I didn't want too.

I wanted to know if its possible to map a folder from my web-hosting account as a drive on Windows 7. I know I can map an FTP folder - but that gets mapped as a folder and NOT as a drive. The reason why I want to map something as a drive is so that I can use it for cloud storage.
Services like DropBox are blocked at my workplace so unfortunately I cannot use them and hence I am looking to map a folder from my personal web-hosting as a drive on my computer.
My web-hosting is a basic PHP-MySQL hosting with cPanel version 10.

The network works very well with one issue. When I add a new folder on one machine and try to access that new folder from another machine the new folder does not appear. I must disconnect the network drive from the machine with the new folder then map a new drive. When I map the new drive the new folder displays in Windows Explorer on the second machine.
This is very frustrating when I want to add an email attachment file from another machine and it won't display until I disconnect and re-map the drive.
