View 3 Replieswe upgraded from sbs2003 server to sbs2008 server. We removed the pc from the old domain and then added it to the new domain. Something went wrong after we joined the new domain it doesn't see the new domain for login and the local Administrator account has been disabled. The only account available is the guest account. Is there a way to enable the local administrator account again?

I seem to have a situation where my wireless connection does not include my local network, so I cannot see or connect to any local computers on my network but I can connect to the Internet just fine wirelessly. Of course, if I wire into the Ethernet port I can see the local computers. I know I should be able to access the local computers wirelessly but I cannot seem to find the "switch" to combine local and Internet access.
So a new box recently built, when booted, defaults to the local administrator account. This is a Windows 7 machine for a Linux guru that doesn't want to be bothered pressing more buttons than is necessary, if you get my drift. So my question is, after pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del...how do I dictate to Windows that the preferred used is "HisDomainAccount" on our company domain, as opposed to the local admin account?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just moved to Peru for my study abroad. When I first connected to the wi-fi in my homestay I was successful. Suddenly, I cannot get internet access and it says it is an "unidentified network". I have tried manually inputting IP addresses, DNS, etc. I have tried forgetting the network and disabling my virus protection. I can't even get internet when I plug an ethernet cable into my computer, directly into the router. My laptop is the only thing that isn't working, other people's computers work and my iPod and smart phone work with the network. I have a Lenovo Windows 7 PC, running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

Wireless works perfectly however.. before ...the other day.... it has been working solidly for almost a year Im plugged into a router which is running off my cable modem, both sitting less than a foot away from me. Also hooked up to the router is another computer, and my xbox the xbox works but the other computer cant seem to get a local connection either.
at first i assumed they were having an ip conflict of some sort, but why now after all this time?
I have tried:
- ipconfig /release - /renew
- abolishing bonjour
- taking the other pc completely off the router/network
- updating drivers.....rolling back the updates
- different cables different ports
-plugging directly into the modem
- and asking nicely
im on my laptop, Dell studio also the first time i noticed this happen was directly after having powered down the modem and router.
below is the ipconfig

I have tried IE 9, Chrome, Safari. They all reat the same way which lead me to believe it is an OS problem. The Talkbass.com admin tried toith this but ended up stating "it must be a Windows 7 64 bit problemr shed some light on this problem. Recently however, the mouse would work at the login screen, but after I would login, it would stop working. Its drivers are up-to-date. It seems as though something changed recently that disables it after login, and if I reconnect it I sometimes get Error Code 43, and it says it is not recognized, then again, sometimes it will work flawlessly, until i put my computer to sleep.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been using my parents computer for the last few months and decided to make my own user/log-in the other day. After doing so, I cut/pasted my photos folder into my new user directory (or whatever, I'm not very techie..). I have thousands of photos, my BF is a photographer, and I can view most of them. However, in one particular folder 90% of them aren't viewable! Says I don't have permission... When I log back into parents windows, I can see the photos in my directory (as they are no longer located in theirs) but there are little gold padlocks on the ones I cannot see on my log-in. I've tried changing permissions, ownership, you name it.. I've looked for help on line and tried everything. The only thing that seems to work is if I right click on each individual photo and change things that way.

I did try to ask him for local admin, as I need to change certain network-settings in order for my update my network-drivers.When asking the IT-staff for local admin, reasoning with the fact that I cannot access the internet properly due to the drivers not being uptodate, they simply wrote me off, saying that I didn't need it. They did, however, challenge me get local admin, claiming that they wouldn't care as long as I didn't cause any harm to the computer.I have a normal local user, connected to the schooldomain. It is still connected to the domain-name after leaving the schoolnetwork, where my username is DOMAIN\username. I am not able to access BIOS, do any changes in group policy or system32, and naturally, all the CMD-commands we did at junior high when we were twelve does not work. The BIOS is set to automatically boot from the HDD; thus any tricks involving .iso files and CD/USB-drives will not work.

We have a scenario where a number of developers residing on a less secure network have access to Windows 7 virtual machines. Access is via the standard RDP protocol. In the domain that these machines reside we would wish to set in group policy access to the local machine USB devices. However, we would also wish to ensure that we block access to the local drives on the client. Looking through group policy are able to block acccess to all local devices channels but cannot configure or find solution where we can just access the USB (removable media devices). Looking through forums it appears that this is only available on Remote Desktop Services for 2008 R2 server.
