Getting Access To Local Admin?

Nov 1, 2012

So, I had to send my original schoolcomputer in for repairing. My, very rude, I might add, IT-staff at school did not include local admin for the temporary computer. I did try to ask him for local admin, as I need to change certain network-settings in order for my update my network-drivers.When asking the IT-staff for local admin, reasoning with the fact that I cannot access the internet properly due to the drivers not being uptodate, they simply wrote me off, saying that I didn't need it. They did, however, challenge me get local admin, claiming that they wouldn't care as long as I didn't cause any harm to the computer.I have a normal local user, connected to the schooldomain. It is still connected to the domain-name after leaving the schoolnetwork, where my username is DOMAIN\username. I am not able to access BIOS, do any changes in group policy or system32, and naturally, all the CMD-commands we did at junior high when we were twelve does not work. The BIOS is set to automatically boot from the HDD; thus any tricks involving .iso files and CD/USB-drives will not work.

Admin Logon But Not Interfere With Auto-login?

Feb 8, 2011

I need to have a login name with a password and admin permissions but don't want to disturb the usual user by forcing a choice of logins where before her PC just opened for her automatically.I do a bit of support for some U3A folk and want to install Teamviewer on some of their machines to do remote support. To be validated across the network or Internet, I need to have a passworded login and don't want to use their login names (many without passwords!) but only one of my choice or preferably the 'hidden' Administrator account (best for full access). Is it possible to have access to Administrator (I know how to enable it) and not spread confusion by having it plastered on the login screen?

[vbscript] Adding Domain User To Local Admin

Jan 17, 2013

I'm trying to run a script at the end of sysprep that will add a Domain group to the local Admins group. I found a few scripts while searching around, but none will work for my application.

This is what I have so far.

Code :SET objNet = CREATEOBJECT("WScript.Network" )' Set the user you want to make local administrator herestrUser = "<username here>"strNetBIOSDomain = objNet.UserDomainstrComputer = objNet.ComputerNameSET objGroup = GETOBJECT("WinNT://" & strComputer & "/Administrators,group" )SET objUser = GETOBJECT("WinNT://" & strNetBIOSDomain & "/" & strUser & ",user" )' ignore error if user is already a member of the groupON ERROR RESUME NEXTobjGroup.Add(objUser.ADsPath)ON ERROR GOTO 0

The problem I'm having is that I need to be able to provide a username and password of a domain admin so that it can authenticate. how to do this when I try to add the user.

RPC Error Adding Domain Users To Local Admin Group

Apr 23, 2012

DC: Win Server 2003
Laptops: Win7 Pro

When joining a set of laptops to the domain it prompts for domain admin credentials and appears to be successful, but gives an error of 'Changing the Primary Domain DNS name of this computer to " " failed. The name will remain domain.local The error was: The RPC Server is unavailable.

When attempting to add Domain Users to the local administrators group: Windows cannot process the object with the name "domain users" because of the following error: The RPC server is unavailable.

This happens even when wired on the network. I have tried uncommenting the localhost line in HOSTS, and manually adding the DNS server (which is also the DC).

Admin User Has No Admin Rights?

Nov 26, 2012

My problem is that even though I have only one user account defined on my machine and it is set to "Administrator" it is not being allowed to do admin types of things like deleting folders. I tried to create a user group but that's not an option on the Win7 Home Premium version that I use. How can it be that the sole account is not the admin even though it shows that it is in the account user setup?

"There Are Currently No Logon Servers Available To Service The Logon Request"

Jan 29, 2012

We have just been sent a free computer for our office. A Windows 7 HP 32bit.We can login locally i think to a local user KB_SUF/User (where KB_SUF is the name of the computer)however whenever the UAC comes up when installing anything, we cannot proceed because it keeps saying "There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request" The thing is they sent us the computer without removing it from the domain Now I cant install the programs i need to work and it doesnt seem like theres a local admin on this computer. I tried removing this computer from the domain but it requires going through UAC.Is there any way to make this computer a Local only PC?The company that sent us the computer is in another country and they say they can send someone over in 6 months which is longer than i can wait.

DVD Not Detected After Logon

Dec 23, 2011

I got 2 DVD : One blu-ray SATA writer and another Pioneer DVD PATA writer. I replaced my motherboard. My new motherboard doesn't have any PATA port. I decided to try this: SATA Serial-ATA to 3.5 IDE PATA Converter Adapter Cable | eBay

This thing works, my DVD is detected in BIOS, UDMA mode 4. DVD is bootable with the proper media, it is also detected and works fine in WinPE booted from my Blu-ray.

The problem is with my Windows 7 installation. The DVD is not detected after I boot. I have to go to Device manager and click "Scan for hardware change", then the DVD-RW is detected and it works fine after that.

I tried many things, I uninstalled Daemon tools, VirtualBox, I tried a registry fix (lowerfilter, upperfilter), no good.

Cannot Logon To Account

Jun 12, 2012

I'm posting this for a friend who has some issues with a corporate laptop. They have everything installed as "username" and all their files on their desktop or in their documents folder. For some reason now, when they logon it says: "Windows is preparing your desktop" and then it logs in and has some notification about using the default account. All the folders are empty, the desktop is empty and the wallpaper is just black. If you navigate to 'C:Users"username"' you can see that everything is still there and it seems that it has created a folder called "temp.domainname" and is using that. Any help on reverting back to "username" and not "temp"?

P.S. The OS is Windows 7 Enterprise 32-bit

Logon UserName After SSD Install?

Apr 13, 2012

I have added an SSD drive which contains operating system and programs. I used Paragon to migrate my old C drive to the new SSD. I can boot from the SSD (wow is it fast). But when I use my old username to log on (Dick) it logs me on as a temporary user. I have done the registry thing by erasing the BAK at the end of the profile but it does not work. I have created a new user name (Dick_New) and that works, but, of course I am having to recreate everything, and all of my links are broken, eg., my many plugins in Photoshop and Lightroom. Almost as bad as doing a clean install (which perhaps I should have done).

My question. Can I just copy my "Dick" user profile from my new F Drive (old C) onto the new SSD. Or perhaps, just overwrite the new profile with the old? With Photoshop and LR when I activate a plugin, it tells me I have to reenter the license info to activate. When I do that I am told that I cannot do it because possibly there is another copy already running. I am going to call Nik later this morning when they open, but I am hoping that someone here has the answer to this question also. Of course, if I can log on using my old profile, this would become mootech Support Guy System Info Utility version 1.0.0.2OS Version: Microsoft Windows[CODE]
