i am a german with a workstation and a notebook with spanish keyboard.
after each remote session (notebook desktop on workstation) numlock is enabled on the notebook.
my notebook has no number block, each time i have to press an unpleasant
FN keystroke.
This morning I was working in eplorer to move some files, and Windows 7 asked me if I wanted to turn on filtering mode, and I confirmed.
Now when I use my remote desktop session from a windows xp machine that has always worked, I now only have control with my mouse, but no more keyboard input.
I do not know if the filtering mode has anything to do with it, but I cannot figure out why I cannot use my keyboard anymore in RDP. Funny thing is, it DOES work when I login to windows 7, I can type my password but when the desktop is there, I cannot use the keyboard anymore..
Any suggestions anyone?
My desktop shortcuts and keyboard don't work anymore on my Dell. We had a virus but removed it, very once in a while it would work for a minute but it doesn't work at all anymore! We can't do much without typing. We tried installing otherkeyboards, wireless and USB, but same problem, they don't work. The Desktop shortcuts would work if you right click and hit open but now it won't right click. So I have to find the program in all programs and open it
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy problem is that after turning on the power for the very first time, it will not recognize my keyboard. I have several different keyboards and I tried them all- including the Acer keyboard that came with the PC.I think my mistake was that before turning on the power, I had plugged in both an HDMI connection to my TV as well as a DVI connection to an Acer 23" monitor. Then when I powered up the PC, it defaulted to the HDMI output but I didn't realize that and was expecting it to displa on the monitor. It took me a while to figure out that it defaulted to the HDMI connection. I started out by looking at my monitor and couldn't figure out why there was no activity on the monitor. But once I switched the TV input to "HDMI 1", I saw the output was displayed on my TV.Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to recognize any keyboard now although it does make a "clicking" sound when I press keys on the keyboard. I tried to press WIN+P to change the HDMI output to show the same output on both the TV and the monitor but it seems to default to "side by side" and the only thing that I can think to do now is to pull out the power cord plug and try to re-boot with just the monitor connected and without the HDMI connection. When I hit the "power off" button, it has no effect. Should I pull out the power cord from the outlet? Or is there some other way to get it to reboot?

Eventually, the screensaver start, and then if I move the mouse or hit a key, the screensaver stops, and the logon screen appear, but the keyboard and track pad are still not working. My only option is to press the power button. The same thing happens if I connect external keyboard and mouse.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI tried to type a pound symbol(£), so I pressed shift+3, and got a hash instead of £.
All letter keys work perfectly, as far as I can see, it is only the 2 and 3 keys which dont work.
2 gives me the @ symbol, whilst pressing the @ key gives me ".
3 gives me #, whilst pressing that key gives me , shift pressing the # key gives me |.
What has just happened?
The keyboard is part of a keyboard/mouse set, the Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop 700 v2, and I am running Win 7 Home Premium x64.
I've just got a Logitech Cordless Desktop EX110, and the keyboard (like most moderately priced keyboards) has numerous 'hot-keys' (like music controls, email button, internet button, calc button etc.) On the side of my keyboard is two hot keys, a 'back' button and a 'close window' button. Now in the Logitech SetPoint software it is possible to customize this buttons function. So I want to make it a 'show desktop' button.
Here's the problem, the SetPoint software is a bit restricted and gives me these (function) choices: Default Task (in this case, close window) Open Web Page Launch Program Open File Open Folder Show Custom Menu Keystroke Assignment Do Nothing So, first of all i tried Keystroke Assignment. Well that would work, just there is only one keyboard short cut i know to show desktop (windows key & D). But this program only takes short cuts that use alpha-numeric keys, Alt or CTRL keys (or in comination, like CTRL+ALT+R) - not the windows key.
Are there any other keyboard shortcuts to show the desktop? Can I make a new keyboard shortcut? But before I started asking that question i thought well ill try 'Open Program'. Found on the Microsoft website the script for Show Dekstop.scf, got that all ready. Targeted the file in SetPoint, no it doesn't work - SetPoint's 'Open Program' only works with executable (exe). So I tried, open file - with the same file, nope - the computer does nothing when that happens.
So let me summarise: Is there an alternative shortcut to Win+D? If not, is there a way of me making a new shortcut (side note, without using a third party program like HotKeyz - coz it doesn't work that way either). Is there an executable script that will show desktop. And I'd need it to be a background sort of script, it'd be crude if everytime I pressed the button up came the cmd box.
I need help to undertand if is possibile resolve this possible issue.I have an ACER Revo 3610r,Atom 530 processor, I'm using it with a wireless Enermax Aurora micro keyboard (with trackball included).I would use RDP from my work pc Unfortunately after I've taken the control from my work pc I'm not able to use the wireless keyboard on the host (Acer revo ) so I've to restart with the shutdown /R command.

I have read
there is a way to do this. Right now, I must go into the laptop and toggle the on/off key.My question, is there a way to add a turn-on key(power on) to the 2nd keyboard? And if so, which key would be most appropriate for this?
I was wondering if it is possible or particularily unadvisable to change my laptop keyboard to one by a different manufacturer? I've recently got a new laptop (Acer Aspire 5742G) and all is grand, except for the fact that I can't stand having a keyboard with a numpad. The arrow keys are too small and the Fn + whatever keys are all in places I don't like. This isn't a big problem or anything, I'm just curious to know if anyone has done it.
