Laptop Install Stalls Part Way, Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit?
Oct 28, 2011Soo its an Acer travelmate 4000 laptop, 1.6Ghz, 2gig ram, clean hard drive with two partitions , primary is 30 gig , secondary 120 gig.Windows 7 home prem OEM 32 bit It gets through the first part of the install (up to the first restart) then goes on to the screen shown in part 9 of the clean install guide, highlighting the "completing installation" message Clean Install Windows 7 then stops with the progress bar about 3/2rds of the way. The drive light flashes occasionally, but otherwise nothing,I formatted and partitioned the drive in another machine.

Jan 27, 2011I recently purchased a couple of new Dell Vostro 3700 laptops with Win7 on them in my office. One of them started getting a message about a week ago stating that the machine is low on memory and instructing the user to close all programs and shut down. This does not make any sense to me as it is a brand new machine with 4GB of memory available. Normally I would think the user had too many programs running, but he is getting it even when there are only a couple of programs running.
In the mean time, we purchased another Dell Vostro 3700. I went through the process of getting it set up. After I installed the final program, it gave me the same error message. I removed the program and installed a more up-to-date version. It seems to be working fine. So I figured the other was the same issue. I followed the same steps. It just got the error message agian. There goes my theory.
what could be eating up the memory on a brand new machine?

Dec 28, 2011Tonight right before bed and about 30 seconds before I was going to hit the shut down command on my laptop (specs below) my computer did a BSOD with a failed physical memory dump and shut down. Now it won't load and the recovery won't attempt any more. Since the BSOD it has a click and single beep. I have a second hard drive in the computer but I can't even access that either. I can enter setup menu and multi boot menu. If I let it sit for 20 minutes to load it brings up a notice saying my windows 7 isn't genuine and loads a factory set up. It is genuine, came from toshiba and I havent had a problem till now.
Spec I know:
Toshiba qosmio x500
Windows 7 professional
Intel I-7
Nvidia video ( not positive on model)
2 hdd
I don't know what's wrong but I need my laptop, Can I recover? Is it a driver issue? Hard ware? What?

The computer will lock up after 20-40 mins sometimes when i dont do anything It will not lock up when i am gaming. but when i am browsing or anything else on the main screen.
