I just recently replaced my screen on my laptop. The problem is that my laptop isn't recognizing the new screen. My laptop boots up like usual but my screen is black. Whats weird is I can leave my old screen plugged in.until my laptop boots up.then plug in my new screen. which stays on then. I can surf the net as usual. but when I reboot my laptop...its back to a black screen.
Until a couple of weeks ago I was quite happily running my Nvidia 9400 GT GPU with no issues. Windows update wanted to update as it does every now an then and afterwards I get a black screen?? I switched to my on-board graphics everything is fine - I try the 9400 and nothing........ it gets weirder....... couple of days later I turn the computer on again and the 9400 is working again..... does so for a few days then black screen again I've been out today and bought a Nvidia GT 620 and plugged it into the motherboard but even that isn't showing up in device manager
I've an Acer Revo running Windows 7 as my HTPC.Everytime I type certain keys on my wired Acer keyboard it displays numbers instead of letters or it displays the wrong letter. This happens for certain keys e.g. when I press 'u' I get '4' and so on. Why is this happening? I understand you press certain function keys together it can change the keyboard settings. Is this true and how do I turn it off?I know it's not the computer as I normally used a remote connection to access the PC and typing this way works fine. I only have this problem when I use the computer directly with its wired keyboard.
every time i start up my pc it always comes up with "Limited or no connectivity" and comes up with my network and an "unidentified network" in the network and sharing center. I only have it connected to one network and that's my BT Homehub 2.0 router.t is connected directly through Ethernet. But when i click restart and wait for it to boot up it goes back to normal, showing one network and full internet access. As it should. just a pain to have to do this every time. In the device manager under network adapters it says "Atheros L1 Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000Base-T Controller"
I have an enclosure with my hard drive in it and connected it to the computer it was not found and i think its because its disabled i go to computer manage disk managemtent and recovery disk,i click properties click on my hard drive (toshiba...) click enable, then i click next and it says windows was not able to enable the hard drive
i recently invested in a new PC - for my job i use high volumes of data so need a high end database setup for fast access to info - to do this i have invested in two SSD hard drives that i am hoping to run in a RAID array and these are completely dedicated to my database. So after alot of work i have my machine up and running, it has a 60GB SSD for running windows 7 64-bit home prem. on, 2x120GB SSDs that will run my database and a 1TB SATA HD for storing whatever else i have on. Now the part i am having real trouble with is configuring the RAID array, firstly in the BIOS main menu i dont see the 3 SSD drives:-However the drives all show up in the windows disk management window. Back in the BIOS, when i enter the SATA config. menu, i find that ports 1-4 are grouped together (currently set to AHCI), and it is possible to switch them into a RAID array but this is no good b/c it means my 60GB boot drive wont operate correctly - i cant seem to find a way for switching the individual ports to RAID, mainly since the ports arent listed individually?
another thing that i am unsure about is the way the drives are listed in the boot menu - they show up listed as IDE's although in the SATA config menu they are listed as AHCI controlled - i am unsure but think this may be a glitch with the BIOS for this motherboard where it doesnt update changes properly.
recently had a few parts die on me so i have started to rebuild a whole new comp my motherboard is a asrock 970 extreme3 cpu is a fx 8-core black edition and gpu is a gigabyte hd7850 2g gddr5 with a seagate 1tb barricuda 7200 hdd now thats out of the way my problem is im trying to reinstall win7 but neither my bios or win 7 rrecognising my hard drive i get stuck at where it asked me where i want to install it to i try load drive but as i said
I have a 4gb memory stick that I have used many times to install Linux etc on old laptops etc. Now that I want to use that stick to copy off some files from Win 7, I notice that Win 7 suggests its capacity is only 1gb.I think I have seen this kind of thing happen before but cant remember how I resolved it.Anyone got ideas on how to kick-start Windows 7 into recognising its full capacity?
one day it suddenly crashed while i was watching a movie. it displayed random patterns on screen. kinda like part of the image from the video is on the screen then a black strip and random colors. I restarted the unit to safe mode and left it on and browsed the net and downloaded some big files for how many hours and nothing happened.. there are also times when windows is still loading with the windows logo on screen, it crashes. there are also times when the login screen is displayed and it crashes. it just crashes randomly! so i tried to reformat it. i deleted the partitions and created a new one, formatted it then fresh installed windows 7 ( my previous OS is windows 7 by the way) and started installing the basic drivers and after a few hours, it crashed again...thinking that the driver installed might not be compatible, i tried another fresh install of windows (same execution, delete partition, create, install OS) and this time, without installing the drivers, it crashed again after a few hours... sometimes it crashes immediately after turning it on from cold start!
From last two days my laptop is not working whenever I turn on my laptop it show me the messege of setup repair automatecally then it start processing and after few min it show me finish option and when I click on finish it shutdown automatecally this happens again and again. If I try to start on safe mode I can't it againg start that process again.
I've got a Panasonic Toughbook CF-F8 and there is a bug in my screen! It has been wondering across around hapily for about a week or two but it got squashed when I went to try and brush it away this morning...I now have a dead bug in the middle of my screen.
I wondered if anyone knows how if it's possible to take the display apart and clean it?
When I'm on a webpage, my laptop screen keeps jumping up and down. Especially when I'm playing timed games. I have an Asus laptop with intel core i3 and Windows 7. It's highly irritating.
My laptop screen is too bright and hurting my eyes (due to a change in working location). How do I adjust the brilliance?

My mom's laptop keeps getting a black screen. I googled "black screen laptop" and I found out about the black screen of death, but it doesn't appear to be this as it completely freezes the computer. I have no idea what this could possible be so I'm hoping someone on here has an idea. The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite t135d-s1324 if it makes any difference.
My laptop keeps going to a blue screen and then will go quickly to the black screen in which I can start windows in safe mode or start normally. It does this several times a day. Then when windows starts again it get a window stating that windows experienced a unexpected shutdown.
I have a Compaq Presario CQ56 with Windows 7. A couple months back my notebook refused to start up after the Welcome screen. It became stuck on a black screen with the cursor. Safe mode with and without networking also refused to load. We eventually fixed the problem by doing a system restore to the manufacturers settings, but start up has been slower than usual ever since.A few days ago it began to do it again. This time, however, I was able to access safe mode. After restarting several times, I only managed to get my notebook to start up fully after taking out the battery and letting it load up just plugged into the wall. I put the battery back in but I haven't restarted it since in case the problem repeats and the battery removal method doesn't work.
My weimaraner recently pressed something on on the keyboard of my Dell Studio 1737 (Win 7 Ultimate 64bit), and now each time Windows loads it loads with the login screen sidways. I have to change the orientation each time, but how to I reset it?
finally installed it and of course it wont fit on my whole screen, all i see is windows in the middle of my laptop monitor, i went to Sony website to look for drivers, found my video driver, radeon IGP 345m, but it said installation for xp and when i went to install it said "install standard vga driver first".
I have a three year old HP laptop running Windows 7 (64 bit) that is misbehaving. It would not boot up recently, and I believe the root was heat related issues. My son likes to use it while setting on his bed - fan gets covered up and the laptop overheats. I added some large rubber feet to the bottom to improve clearance for the fan and that has helped, to a point. The laptop will boot and I can log into my son's account. After 5-10 minutes, the screen goes blank (50% grey scale, neither bright or completely dark). At that point, nothing seems to bring the screen back, so it is unusable and a hard shut down is necessary. I have cleaned it with Malware Bytes in the past and now have Microsoft Security Essentials installed, so I think/hope any virus issues have been resolved. My suspicion is that this is heat related, but exactly what is failing I do not know. Two months ago I replaced the power jack in the laptop and the power supply because of power connection problems. The battery is shot and will not hold a charge, so the laptop can not be used unless it is connected to the power supply. Since I replaced the power supply and jack, the laptop has been functioning okay. It would crash on occasion, but I attributed that to malware. I had to purge the hard drive earlier this year and restore the system because of a malware infestation.
Ive tried all the obvious things, but even on default it's too bright. i have it on the lowest brightness settings and it's still to bright. I really dont want to kill the lcd backlight
My desktop pc upstairs has a screen resolution 1900x1600, my laptop downstairs 1920x1080 (fullHD). When i open a RDP from the laptop to my desktop upstairs the screen is full size on the laptop but the icons and everthink is small, can this be bigger?
My laptop freezes on the welcome screen, windows7 home premium. Start up menu does not work in any safe mode. Would it be in my best interest to restore to out-of- box status?
