View 2 Replies View RelatedMy computer is in one room and TV is in another. I use the stereo plug to power the small satellite speakers at the computer and the HDMI cable from the mother board to drive the TV in the adjoining room. I would like to have sound in both rooms, but WMC seems to restrict one to either/or.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI tried looking for an answer to this in the forums and on Google first, but I couldn't find anything for my issue. I have a set of computer speakers that I like to listen to music through, and a USB headset that I like to listen to games and movie through. I switch back and forth pretty often, but every time I do, I have to log out and log back in for the newly plugged-in device to actually make sound. Is there any way to set up Win7 to play audio to both devices so that I can just turn off my speakers when not in use?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have my monitor (vga) and my tv (hdmi) hooked up to my desktop computer. When I listen to music I have it open on my monitor and the sound comes through the bookshelf speakers I have connected via the audio jack. However when I want to watch a video, I watch on the TV and I want the sound to be coming from the tv. Currently I go into the volume settings and change the default playback device. Is there anyway to do this automatically?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Radeon HD5850 with a HDMI output that is plugged on my HDTV, I am using Win 7 and the last Catalyst drivers. The video is working just fine (extended desktop, I can play a movie on the TV while playing a game on my monitor on the other desktop) but I have a problem separating the audio streams. Is there a way (built in windows, ati driver or external program...) to send the audio stream of some applications (the movie basically) on the HDMI output, and the streams of other applications on my regular audio output at the same time?Usually on Win7 when you have 2 sound cards you can just set one as default, launch your program, then set the other one as default and launch the other programs and that will do the trick (the streams stay on the output that was the "default output" when they were launched). But with the HDMI of the Radeon, when I switch the default adapter, all the sound is switched..
View 5 Replies View RelatedI like to play games with headphones on so I can hear voice chat and in game sounds, but I also like to listen to music. It would be a ton easier for me if I could play my music thats on my computer through my speakers, and still listen to game and such in the headphones. I have not been able to find any way to use multiple jacks on my computer in the way Id like to.
View 4 Replies View RelatedRecently my Windows 7 machine has decided that it will only play audio from Windows (bongs etc), WinAMP and Skype - That's it, nothing else. I get no audio from FireFox, while playing Minecraft or Grand Theft Auto IV.
Below is some screenshots of various sound management area's and explanations of various things in the image:
This image shows the two volume controls I get after clicking the volume control icon on the notification tray. The left slider is titled "Digital Output (4- USB Multi-Channel Audio Device)" and the right slider is titled "Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)".
This image shows that "Realtek High Definition Audio" is not actually running. The fourth icon is the driver software used with the USB sounds card I am using.
This image shows the driver software used with the USB sounds card I am using. This image shows the volume mixer for the first slider. The left icon is titled "Digital Output (4- USB Multi-Channel Audio Device)".
This image shows the volume mixer for the second slider. This image shows the contents of the drop down list in the first volume mixer. The second volume mixer has the same drop down menu.
Edit 1: I am now seeing this volume mixer. * Denotes a bong noise being played when the slider is clicked on.
while playing games like Battlefield Bad Company 2 I'm most of the time recording as well. While playing and recording I do also want to listen to some music, but i don't want the music to be in the recorded file.
I tried different outputs for the music and recorded audio devices in Dxtory, which is the program I use to record the gameplay.Nothing worked, I either got game sound and the music in the recorded file or no sound at all.Now I got the idea to output the gamesound through my motherboard AND my soundcard (Asus Xonar D1), output the music only through my soundcard and record only the motherboard output with Dxtory. I hope you guys understand what i mean, excuse my English.

Just using normal analog speakers or headphones audio works as expected. I can play WoW, Rift, a number of other games, iTunes, play a DVD, whatever - it all works fine and as expected. I can do this for hours and hours with no issues.
When I try to run any TWO or more programs that use audio at the same time (like vent and a game, or a game and iTunes for example); after a random amount of time the audio to the speakers will just cut out - like it's muted. This happens with headphones or normal stereo speakers plugged into the rear analog jack. I have not tested with any other speaker setups as I don't have any right now.
Here is some of the troubleshooting I've done:
- There are no error messages in any system logs.
- The mixer acts like nothing is wrong you can see audio levels playing, adjust sound level, etc but nothing comes out of the speakers.
- If I put the machine into sleep mode or reboot it the sound starts working again.
- While the audio is "cut out" the mic still works (people in skype or vent can still hear me but I can not hear them - I can also "monitor" the mic and it outputs the mic sound to my speakers).
- I've uninstalled, reinstalled drivers. I've tried older drivers and the newest drivers and all the drivers between.
- Tested with the HDMI audio output devices both Disabled and Enabled, no change
- Tested with the Digital output enabled/disabled, no change.
- In the driver tried testing with the "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" checked and unchecked, no change.
- Restarting the Windows Audio Services has no effect or changes the state. Only sleep mode or hard reboot makes it start working again.
- Tried unplugging and replugging in the speakers and/or headphones, swapping them out, etc. no change to the state of the output of audio.
Im running Windows 7 x86 from a Crucial SSD. I have set up this system only recently. When I reboot my system (which I dont do very often) I have found that none of the programs/services that are supposed to start automatically, do.This includes Logitech "Setpoint.exe" (for my mouse), MS "itype.exe" (for my keyboard), the realtek hd audio manager, my calendar software "rainlendar2.exe", as well as a control panel mod/replacement called "classic control panel".All of these used to work correctly on my old system, meaning, when I was still running Windows 7 x86 from a normal HDD instead of an SSD. I did not use AHCI mode back then, only switched to it for the SSD. (Just throwing that in there because I don't know what could possibly cause this kind of behavior, and I didnt make other changes to the system far as I'm aware..)The thing is, I can run the software manually just fine, and everything works the way it should - tray icon appears, etc.I can also put shortcuts to all these programs in the "Startup" folder, and it works fine. It's only the "other type" of automatic startup that won't work for some reason. Not all of these affected programs actually even HAVE an option to disable the automatic startup (itype.exe for example, never had a tray icon, never had an option to NOT run, afaik; the same is true for the classic start menu app).
I double checked the other software to make sure that the option "run on system startup" (or similar) was enabled in all of them, and it was.I also noticed that none of the usual entries were present in the "Startup" section of msconfig.exe (which I usually use to disable any kind of programs that startup automatically when I dont want them to.) Im running out of ideas here. The only thing I could think of that I haven't tried yet is re-installing all this software, but what are the odds of ALL this software losing its auto-startup capabilities at the same time, each on its own? Is there a common global option that may affect programs running at startup? Is there any service that is required to run programs at startup? (I did follow a guide for SSD Windows users, that recommended disabling certain Windows services and functions... eg auto defrag, superfetch, hibernation, system restore, etc.. that sort of thing!)

View 3 Replies View RelatedI turned my computer on to find no audio playing. My main audio device plays bac audio from DAW just fine but if I load a video in WMP i get a code C00D11B1. If I try to play a test tone in the sound settings I get "Failed to play test tone". I have other audio devices connected and also get the same errors which makes me think this is a registry error or some windows communication error. The only thing I think might have caused this is when I was trying to get my ram to run at 1866. This is a new build and the ram should run at this speed as it is in the QVL but that is another issue. I should also mention that I have tried reloading the device drivers, updated the BIOS, and restyored windows from a previous state with no change.

I can no longer install programs or modify existing programs.According to the security permissions, I have none. Nor can I change my permissions because in order to change them I need access to the C drive, which I don't have.I have tried creating other users and putting them in the admin group, etc. but nothing is working.

View 9 Replies View RelatedEvery time I start up normally into Win7 everything is fine for a couple of minutes. I'll open a few programs, then after a few minutes of them running they'll hang and enter the 'not responding' mode. (firefox, steam, IE). If I don't already have task manager running the system will basically be unresponsive and the only thing I can do is reboot manually. If I have task manager running I can sometimes end a process or two but some will remain open & unresponsive. Any programs that are working (including task manager) disappear when I minimize them and no programs appear on the task bar, (though they can be retrieved with alt+tab).
McAfee also has 'real time scanning' permanently disabled.
This is all very strange as there was nothing wrong four days ago when I was away, and the symptoms occured within 2-3 minutes of booting up this evening. The system runs in safe mode.
