Internal Hard Drive Making Beeping Noise, Laptop Won't Start Up
Dec 14, 2012
I am using a Dell Inspiron 14 laptop. A few days ago, I noticed that my laptop has become incredibly slow (the system will hang sometimes, and continue as per normal after a while), and this coincided with my laptop beginning to make this weird, sharp beeping sound. At first I did not pay much attention to it, but later this was joined by several BSODs, and my laptop became even slower (games that usually did not lag was now hanging halfway through, and continuing as per normal after a lengthy period of 1 minute or so). I tried to find the origin of the noise, and I think it came from my Internal hard drive sector, and thus decided to open the sector up (in hindsight I probably should not have). After I replaced it, without doing much (just doing the usual IT-amateur stuff, wiping it and blowing it a few times), my situation has now worsened to the point that startup takes a much longer time, and finally now it hangs at the "Starting Windows" screen, but without the Windows 7 logo showing, and my screen later turns black.
I am getting a beeping sound noise from the top right corner of my vaio laptop. The problem seems to be one my hardware drivers, to make matters worse i cant even back up i just get the error code in the title! I have checked my "system reserved space" which is at 100mb so i have enough memory to back it up. I also had drivers problems with my laptop when trying to establish wifi connection after moving house, "missing driver" i now use a cable.
. I have 2 of them, one is a Western Digital Caviar Blue, about 2 years old I think. The second is a Western Digital as well, but I'm unsure of the type and age, it's a 150GB drive. One of these drives are making an odd noise, I suspect it's the main drive, the 500GB Caviar Blue. Reason being is because after starting up my system and selecting either Windows 7 or Windows XP it does a Disk Check before going to the Welcome screen, it does not do the Disk Check every time, but it happens quite often. Disk Check of course displays no issues upon completing. The thing I notice that happens, but not very often, it's about a 1 second kind of low screech noise coming from my computer tower. It is making me worried of my computer health and how much longer is might live.
Recently my 1tb hard-drive has starting making these low pitched grumbling noises almost like a vibration when its being accessed. I notice it most when I am defragmenting or gaming. It does not happen when I defragment my other hard drive.
i have an acer aspire 5738z and i am using windows 7 ultimate. every time i boot it up it works fine until i start getting onto internet. when i am using internet say, streaming videos on Internet or playing an online game or watching a movie online, the laptop just freezes. sometimes it freezes for like 2 secs but sometimes over 10 minutes. and then sometimes it comes back on again as normal or i will have to manually restart it from my end. i also tried to find any faults using a registry checker and couldnt find any although i am not pretty sure which is the best registry cleaner to be used. i also find that sometimes the laptop beeps just once before it unfreezes.
So today my laptop started to freeze ALOT and a error message saying windows is not reaping keeps coming. So I restart my laptop and then it does same thing again I press Ctrl alt del and then three Louis beeping noises come all the same length like beep beep beep?
I just rebooted and when it was on my desktop it froze and a windows error message came up saying windows is not responding and it Ives me two options 1.end windows or 2. Wait for it to respond I clicked 2 and it turned to a grey screen and after 15 mins it came back to life.
My laptop isn't even a year old and it started freezing and making weird noise. At first it didn't happen much and only happened when I was watching movies now it happens on everything I do about 4 times a day. sometimes it goes back to normal but then other times I have to press the power button and turn it off. I checked the fan and the fan seems to be fine. And I don't have a virus I scan the computer once a week.
It's a dell latitude, 1 year old. Laptop suddenly crashed and when the laptop booted it said: "no boot sector on internal hard drive". I tried repairing the boot sector with the windows repair function, but the hard drive is just empty... nothing to repair. Then I tried to boot off a ubuntu live cd. which worked. and showed me an empty hard drive with the_maximum_capacity_of_the_drive_GB of unallocated space.
Since that I reinstalled windows 7 two times, and stopped working after an hour or so. I installed ubuntu, which worked for several days. then i tried windows 7 again (clean install). And then I kept working on the laptop for a couple of hours until the "crash" happened. All the programs stopped working suddenly. When I opened anything I was shown this error: "Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion."
After that everything is lost if I turn the computer off. And I'm back at an empty unformatted hard drive. I changed the sata operation mode in the bios to different options before every installation of windows. I didn't try xp, because I don't have dell-xp cd's . Is the hard drive broken? I guess not because ubuntu works. and windows 7 also, but it just goes away suddenly... Here's a video (shot in portraitmode) of the event... [URL].
don't want to buy an expensive external optical drive so am trying to think of how to make a sata or ide internal optical drive into an external one for emergencies.anyone know if i can get adaptors for the power and data connections?have googled but no luck.oops found some build ideas on Internet - should have looked there first i suppose
i get a beeping noise now and again when playing games, its just one beep but its done it on desktop a couple of times aswell, as anyone got any ideas and how to stop it.
I've had an issue with hard drive noise before but after I installed windows seven it's seem to get worse is there anyway I can make the hard drive less loud because it's driving me crazy..
It's a compaq presario CQ60 the hard drive is a samsung
this laptop is new but it seems to get worse I returned this laptop before and got another same one with the same issue..
My computer has started to make a bit of noise...it sounds like a faint hum, or constant drone, kind of like a fan noise. I checked the intake, exhaust and cpu fans by stopping them spinning and the noise is still there. It sounds like its coming from my PSU. Does that mean its on its way out? I have a Hiper 530watt PSU which I have had for about 4-5 years now.
I have an internal hard disk not in use ,and I would like to make it as external disk !I looked on the net and I found I should have the " encelsure " butt I think I wont find it here in my city .So is there another way ? like usb -esata cable
Me and my brother built me a new computer from scratch (he did the building - i did the watching). I purchased an internal hard drive from Overclockers UK. It's a Samsung 1TB drive. I also have a 64 Solid-state drive in there as my primary hard drive that Windows was installed on and a couple of programs are installed on. My storage disk (the 1TB disk) is for all my music/films etc. Whenever I drag and drop a file into the Samsung hard-drive - it copies it rather than moves it instantly. When I had a laptop, I had 3 external hard drives and this is the way it copied files onto them.how I can get the internal drive to stop acting like an external drive?
Just got a Sager NP1830 laptop with 7 on it. Is it normal for my hard drive indicator to blink like every second?
I also hear pretty audible hard drive activity noise even when the computer is doing nothing. I just switched from a Mac so I'm not sure if this is normal.
This problem occurred to me recently, as everytime i boot up my computer, the CPU fan makes a very loud noise and i can see the motherboard having a LED blinking orange. It's gone after a restart of the computer.
I Have Intel i3 Processor and once i switched off my computer directly when it was on .... The next time i switched it on i found an Error that windows failed to start... There were two options i.e Start System Repair and Start Windows Normally..Then i did every thing that can repair my computer with system repair... But it did not worked...When i Start Windows Normally ... It Shows a Blue Screen....It Disappeared in a fraction of a second...Then i recorded a video and frame by frame saw the error screen... It Showed Windows Is shutting down for no damage to your computer...I Really dont care of mine computer bcoz its a i3.. and i thought of safe mode ... to take backup of my games ... then the next time i switched on my pc .. I saw that it was working fine. But at random times mine pc makes a sound .. .that is never got before ... i am sure that it is not any othere sound but the processors sound ... The Sound is like Audi Q3 When at full speed ...
my friend has a netbook and she will be playing any sort of sound, video ect... and it will freeze the whole computer. The sound starts to stutter loudly and eventually it ends up at the Blue Screen Of Death. Is this a virus? Do we have to take her netbook to a Techie person?
my hp 6730 b laptop charger was beeping and eventually stopped working i replaced it with a loaner ..The loaner is a original hp charger but has less power volts are .5 off but the original had 90 watts the loaner has only 65 watts...it charges the bat to 100 percent..although i noticed the lightning bolt led is not staying blue like it was...it goes to amber at 60 percent charge and then blue like itshould somewere working up to full charge then it goes off..it used to stay blue.. i dont leave it plugged in at night..i figure i better not..NOW 3 DAYS LATER MY LAPTOP CRASHED TWICE AND BUZZED... NO SCREEN ...FAN GOING AND LEDS BLINKING...it would not shut down from power off on button....so i umplugged the charger and pulled the batt out...put batt back in and it said windows did nor shut down correctly..hit enter and it rebooted fine...how serious is underpowering a devise..in general i always thought under was ok within reason over was bad.?? im buying the original 90 watt hp block today...
For the last week now my computer has been making a humming sounds that progressively gets louder. The strange thing is if I press my hand firmly on the side of the case the humming stops for a short time.
A week ago everything was running fine 3,4 days ago i notice that it is making much more noise than it should. It seems that it is CPU's fan's noise. Most probably dust is responsible for this.there is a lot of dust inside my CPU. This may hamper hardware badly(as i have seen in some websites). What should i do? can i solve this by my self or i need to go to computer repair shop.one argument that this sound is not of fan is that, If it is sound of fan then it should start blowing very fast with noise after opening computer for long time since it blows when processor warms. But one can say that fan is not in well working state so that's why it is making this much sound, After all these are my arguments.
I installed a second hard drive on my Windows 7 Dell desktop. The drive is a Seagate Barracuda ST3000DM001 3TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive. It's only showing up as 746.39 GB Unallocated.
for some reason my internal hard drive after installing it and reinstalling windows 7 it does not show up for some reason... I have check the cords to make sure they are in correctly
My Boot menu says it's there but my OS does not see it?
I upgraded from Win XP to Windows 7 64 bit about a month ago (I did a clean install as I've always had issues with in place upgrades). My machine has four hard drives total, two internal SATA drives, and two external USB drives. For some reason my secondary internal drive, a WD 500 GB SATA drive (nothing fancy), keeps disappearing randomly while windows is running. This started about a week ago, it ran ok for the first 2 weeks or so.The drive comes back fine and dandy if I completely shut down the machine and then boot it back up. The drive stays until some random moment when Windows doesn't see it anymore. Now, if I do a simple Restart the drive doesn't show up, ONLY after I shut down completely, and push the power button back on, does this work. There is nothing in the System logs, no error messages, nothing, it just vanishes and is completely random.
Can I use a Windows Home premium upgrade version to install a clean 32 or 64 bit Win 7 on another internal hard drive?
I currently have Vista HPrem 32 bit on C drive and PC is 64 bit capable. As I use PC in home office I am not ready at this time to perform any upgrade/clean install on the C drive
I want to make sure I can dual boot if it can be done.
I have had my Windows XP updated to Windows 7 by a computer tech. He promised 250 GB internal hard drive but I only received 80 GB. He installed an E Drive with 465 GB. Is 80 GB enough for Windows 7? Also, what can be manually stored in the E drive?
I had a Windows XP OS that I used when I stored 15 gigs of data and photos on my iomega LDDHD-UP external hardrive. My internal hard drive crashed and I up graded to windows 7. The exxternal dive indicates all files are PBD files and I can't find the program to open or retrieve them .
my sony vaio netbook is making a browser clicking noise (like when you open a new page or folder)constantly shortly after startup if i turn the sound off ie mute the sound goes away if i close all browsers the sound is still there i have no other programs running.
I installed 3 days ago Windows updates and now my computer makes the infamous buzz when playing music. I tried deactivating all the unnecessary start-up programs but it keeps doing it. My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 15 with native W7 and never had problems with the sound, it all just started after I installed these updates.
When I turn on/restart the computer, the desktop itself has two hard drives in it (250GB and 1TB, 1TB is not the one the OS is on)
When I put the computer to sleep, and then wake it up, the 1TB is not active, and to access it I have to completely restart the computer. I'm using a legitimate retail version of Windows 7 Ultimate, if that helps any?
