The problem is, In order to play Blu-Ray disks my software FORCES me to connect over HDMI, and my TV doesn't support DVI.I managed to get it close, but the pixel mapping is off. I can't get it any closer, as the adjustments only go by 5% increments.

I'm running a HP nx8430 laptop. 3GB Ram Ati display etc.
I recently installed an INTEL X25-M SATA SOLID STATE drive and installed Windows 7 RC on it.
Now I've been running the Beta's and various builds since last november and it's been fine. Boot times have been great and performance amazing.
Since installing this SSD though my laptop now takes about 5 minutes to move on from the boot logo!!! 5 minutes no joke! The hard drive light goes solid for this entire time and the logo throbs like it does. And then finally it displays CTRL ALT DEL...
I have tried all sorts from the BIOS drive settings to MSCONFIG settings etc. Nothing changes it.
It's the same coming out of hibernate too. 5 minutes + before the mouse or KB start to respond to input.
All other forums posts I've read all say it boots in about 40 seconds with an SSD. I'm on the verge of going back to my SATA disk as this is almost unusable on a daily basis.
Once into the OS it flies! Apps open instantly and everything runs SOOOO well it's just this boot time that's killing me.
Any ideas please?
I have tried shutting it down, when I turn it back on it goes straight to that screen again, no startup or anything. I tried shutting off and unplugging. Turns on straight to blue intel desktop screen again. Tried shutting down, unplugging, pressing power again to make sure it's off. Same thing.
Tried CTRL ALT DELETE, no response. Tried throwing keyboard...nothing...
But why would it stay on this screen even after shut down and unplud for more then 30 seconds? More than a minute?
It is like it was never turned off, and it gives me no options to boot from my backup drive or F8. just turns on to blue intel screen? Running windows 7...
i decide to reinstall my computer from windows 7 32 home bit into windows 7 64 bit, everything works fine until i decide to install the lates intel vga driver, after restarting the computer, the screen keep showing grid lines like this pic. t

I was previously using XP SP3 on a intel 915GAV mobo. It installed the Intel Extreme Graphics which showed many resolutions for my monitor. After installing Windows 7 I only get 3 options of resolution. Any workaround for this? Cannot find any graphic drivers for this mobo.

I recently rebuilt my pc with a gigabyte ga h77m d3h and core i3 2120 with 512m dedicated to on board graphics. The computer will start fine after you do the fresh install of windows 7 prof. 64 bit with the default video driver from windows. I've updated my bios using gigabyte's @bios tool and I've tried installing th drivers from the disc, from intel's website and with automatic update in device manager. Could a corrupt windows install file cause this issue? I downloaded the ISO from the Microsoft website when I bought the product key.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am running an Advent desktop PC and its stats are as follows; Intel Core i5-2310 CPU @ 2.90GHz 8GB RAM Win 7 64 bit.The problem I am having is when ever i boot up the computer it shows the Advent logo-screen where I can access the boot menu etc but then it goes to a black screen with a cursor/underscore flashing in the top left... This screen stays for quite a while and I am not sure if it stops because of a key I have pressed or just because it has run its course but after it disappears the computer goes back to the logo-screen for a moment and proceeds to boot up as normal except slightly slower than usual.It is a relatively new computer and it has no problems running at all once the boot up is complete it is fast and as friendly as ever.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to Windows 7 on my Toshiba Satellite Special Edition laptop that came with Vista 64bit and the other night i downloaded iTunes 10 and told me to restart my machine so I clicked ok and then my laptop shut off and when it came back on the Toshiba screen came up as usual but seemed to stay on longer than normal then it goes to a black screen with a underscore that blinks for a few moments then becomes solid. Ive tried to use the "F" keys to get different boot options because i have the windows 7 ISO disc and a ubuntu disc that I could use but whatever i try my laptop wont process it just does the same thing over and over again and bever proceeds to the actually boot up windows.

Upon reboot, I get the black screen of death with just the cursor instead of the usual login screen. Now, I know that the hard drive itself is alright, that is, the information is still all there still. While I can't give you exact specs, I can tell you that I am on a Dell Studio XPS running Windows 7 home premium 64 bit. I'm at a loss as to what else to do. Despite being a black screen, with just a movable cursor, the system still appears to be running, as every few minutes, it will show the "thinking" cursor, where it shows the little circle next to the arrow.
See, I have a AM3+ motherboard, and currently a FX 6200 clocked at 4.2GHz, thing is, I feel when I try to play say BF3 on a 32 man server, My pc run's smooth, yet come to a 64 man server, My PC feels sluggish and well fails. Now I know Its going to effect my FPS and CPU usage with what settings in game am I running, well Ultra I don't use I mainly use a mix of medium and high, to Me its all about performance before eye candy, but BF3 seems to have no performance boost the lower I turn the settings down, I mean with one card I get 98-99% usage but in SLI I get 50% on each card with v sync disabled and on ultra I have even tried with settings on low and enabling v sync, lol that is just worse! I have been told the higher the settings, the higher the usage, and my cpu seems to be lagging behind.I know there is things to take into consideration like the Ram, Graphics, Hard drives, Lag ect, But I'm running two GTX 480's, 2 Velociraptor Hdd, 16GB Corsair Dominator Ram, a Corsair HX 1050w psu and Windows 8.Come January I'm planning a upgrade, but what My dilemma is should I move to Intel has I feel my issue is a major bottleneck with the 480's and my CPU, I don't want to buy a 200 cpu (8350) and a few months down the line have to invest in a Intel because the Pile driver has failed like the Bulldozer did! Or just upgrade to a Intel i5 or i7, I mainly game but do video work as well, even considering getting a i7 2600k or 2700k,

I have 3 HDD's in my desktop computer but only one is used for an OS (the other 2 are just storage) and only ever 1 OS at a time, no multibooting for me. Back when the Windows 7 Beta came out I completely wiped the hard drive and installed the 64-bit beta on it. Since then, I have installed builds 7057, 7077, and 7100 (all 64-bit) on it using the Upgrade option and some times deleting the partition and formatting a new one and it has never started up using the Windows 7 boot screen, instead it always starts up using the old Vista boot screen.
I have installed the same versions of Windows 7 on 2 other desktops and 2 other laptops in my household and all of them have a working Windows 7 boot screen. All but 1 laptop were installed using a clean install but the 1 laptop was upgraded. I have tried the standard fixes using bcdboot and bceedit but neither worked and both are for fixing the boot screen when it REVERTS back to Vista whereas I've never seen the Windows 7 boot screen on this copmuter.

However I cannot select"Start Windows Normally" or move up and down to select Safe Mode options. I have to let the timer run it's course and boot normally because the whole window is frozen

Now let's move onto the problem... Whenever I power on my computer, it won't boot. At all. Not even to the intro screen showing you the motherboard label. Can't go into BIOS. The curious thing about it is that I was using a Gigabyte A75-UD2H board and that's when it started, so I got a new board, yet it persists! I still cannot boot into BIOS and I know if you have a faulty HDD, it will at least recognize the MoBo first then tell you it can't find the HDD, which spins up fine and works perfectly... The CPU isn't burnt out or anything.
My OS is windows 7 Home premium upgrade from XP, 64 bit, I have been running this for a couple of years without any problems. I returned from holiday on Saturday, switched on the PC and as I only had a 'medium health' message, I scanned with 'Paretologic', this did not increase the level of health condition, but it did throw up some unwanted processes which I disabled, (could I have disabled explorer.exe by mistake?) When I restarted the PC the 'starting windows' screen with the flags came up and after a few minutes the black screen appeared with the cursor in the centre, now I don't know if it means anything but occasionally the 'spinning ring' appears, only for a couple of seconds but it would seem like it is attempting to start? Safe Mode, for some reason, is not available, neither can I set an earlier Restore point. I have carried out a check with the 'repair disc' no problems reported, I have also carried out a 'scannow' from the command point and the integrity is okay. I have downloaded a copy of the Explorer.exe but don't know how to install, I don't think it is a virus or Malware but I have a scanner to install if I knew of a way to load it. Without any form of access to the OS I am lost to know where the problem is.

I had winxp sp3 and Windows 7 7127 x64 on dual boot (xp on c:/ and 7 on d:/)
I replaced xp sp3 with Windows 7 7264 x86 ...at first I couldn't login to Windows 7 7127 because the dual boot seemed to be gone. I fixed it using easybcd so now I have dual boot again for 7127 x64 and 7264 x86 .
The problem is that now when I boot 7127 it has a vista boot screen (probabbly because of easybcd not having a Windows 7 option). How can I change it back to the Windows 7 boot screen? Does anyone have any clues?
When booting, the Windows boot.ini screen does not appear. It goes from my Bios directly to the windows install screen. I want to run in safe mode to check on artifacting (green dots) that started to appear, but I never get the choice. Is there something in 'msconfig/boot' that I need to highlite?
edit: I managed to get into Safe Mode by turning off the computer with Windows 7 running and then restarting. I did not see any artifacts. I rolled back to the previous driver and the artifacts are still there. It might be my video card.
