Installing Windows 7 Won't Expand Windows Files And Then Error
Nov 4, 2012
it's good to join you. Now i have very big problem. So i bought new motherboard (3 days ago) and installed all parts: cpu, 2 HDD's (160GB sata and 250GB ide) + ODD and that's all. Then, how ussualy i plugged power cable to motherboard. Everything is connected good. I turn power on-> insert Win7 home premium x64 CD -> boot -> start to install -> format and create 2 partitions (1 partition for 1 HDD) -> press that windows will be installed on 160 GB HDD -> windows loads files and when start expanding it goes slow. Few times (maybe 2 of all) it reached 60% but more than 25% - never. What i see and what happens: I see blue screen with information that i must disable antivirus and so on. In the end of the page i see that something is stopped (but now i cant write what because i can't see).
When i try to install win xp, it seems like everything is OK. Oh i forgot to say that i tested and wiped my HDD's with hirens bootable cd.
Motherboard: ASRock g41m-s3
Hdd: 160 and 250 Gb
Ram: PATRIOT DDR3 1333 MHz
Video card: no
CPU: Intell Pentium D 820, 2Mb 800FSB 2.8GHz
So I booted from my win7 install disc, got to the part where I formatted my hard drive, and started the install, but at the "Windows is expanding files" part it doesn't move past 0% and i get this error that says that something may be corrupted. This doesn't make any sense to me because I've had the computer working for almost two years now, and reinstalled win7 with the same disc multiple times.
i've recently built a new computer, first time, and im having sort of a problem downloading windows. I have the full version bought straight from newegg.com was not a dl copy ( i hope )and it wont dl properly. Im pretty sure i have all my stuff plugged in right and working properly. Ive tried numerous things like wiping the hard drive, switching the hard drive, trying a different dvd/cd drive, restarting over and over. Please help, and talk in english plz im not to good at the computer language talk.
Okay i can get the windows installion all the way to part 2 installing windows where it says expanding files it will get to around the high 80% or 90% complete then i will get an error that says windows cannot access the installion sources verify that the installation sources are accessible, and restart the installation. And i restart and try again and it gives me the same thing.
Whenever I use the windows open/save as dialog box, I'm unable to expand 'My Documents' folder under Documents. Yet, I'm able to expand 'My Documents' folder from windows explorer. Same is true for all the Libary folders under Documents, Music, Pictures, and Videos. I can only expand the first folder level.
I installed windows 7 on my computer and all of my files are gone. I have been reading online that you can install an undelete program, but I'm still not sure, the other option was to take the hard drive out and connect it as a slave drive to another computer and use a undelete program on the computer. Please help me, I dont want to mess this up anymore that it is. What should I do, and can I recover the files?
[code] everything is detected with in the bios but the boot device LED stays solid on, I've booted it from a Windows 7 DVD then THE COMPUTER RESTARTS?!? It's only restarted after I've booted from the DVD, sometimes when it's at the language part but always does it when its at the install part right at uncompressing files at 0%.Now I've but about 6 rigs over the years without a problem and it's really getting to me. I've tried most sata settings (IDE & AHCI), different hdds, different sata cables & ports, cleared the CMOS(removed mains power, removed the CMOS battery, moved jumper waited 5min, held down power button, waited 5min, replaced battery, moved jumper back, replace mains power) the mb memOK function gives the RAM the all clear as well as the windows memcheck after 5 passes, everything was seated with a wrist strap, I've checked the ssd with sata to USB interface and my laptop gives it the all clear (oh yeh I chech with a diff HDD) and the mb has the latest firmware, USB flashed.
i'm going to go from 32 bit vista to 64 bit windows 7 and i want to know if files from my other hard disk that i use which doesn't contain any windows files or anything like that will be wiped when i'm installing it. also will it delete all of my files on the original C hard disk?
I have Windows 7. I was installing i-tunes and when it asked to restart my computer I restarted it. When it logged back in the desktop was like in the beginning - the desktop theme was some default picture not the one I had put on, no additional programs were not installed and the worst part - my user folder on the desktop was completely empty! All of the folders My Music, My Pictures etc. had only Sample Pictures and Sample Music in them. I tried searching for my files but they cannot be found. Even worse - in My Computer the Local Disk is shown to be almost empty, like all of my files hadn't been there. So is there any way I can find and restore my files?
I burn Windows 7 ultimate image on DVD using roxio burn I used that DVD on my PC to boot that PC , PC took 5 minutes after saying" Press Any key to boot from dc/dvd" and the windows boot manager run and gave the options to run the windows 7 setup rather then starting automaically , and i selected that options to install., windows file started loading... But i want to install it on my laptop so when i boot it , after saying boot from cd/dvd , it takes 15min that says this error "UNEXPECTED I/O ERROR" do you still think there a problem in DVD or in my DVD writer
i've recently decided to reinstall win7 64bit because my computer started freezing up occasionally while browsing, playing games or even watching Internet videos... the freezes would pass after a few minutes and the computer would recover and start up/shut down would take a long time as wellso i thought that reinstalling windows might help as i havent done it in a long while. but i ecountered a problem while installing win7 64biti receive these errors (0x8007045d and later after trying a few things it changed to 0x80070002 both times it stated something about files missing or being corrupt) while on the "extracting windows files" section of the setup.
i've done a clean install every single time and formated my hdd (seagate barracuda 7200.10 320gb) but got an error every single time but at various %'s (once it went up to 70% other times it would get stuck as soon as 5%). i'm really out of ideas now, i've tried switching ram's, switching dvd drives, disconnecting my gpu but nothing seems to... has my hdd died? or prehaps my mobo or cpu is acting upoh, and i burned my win7 iso's myself via imgburn - i've used the slowest possible burn speed (x2) and did it multiple times but every single dvd gave same error.
I am upgrading to Windows 7 on my laptop. When I inserted the disk it went through some of the installation then when it got to the Expanding Windows Files I got an error message. I looked it up and everything I read pointed to my dvd drive. I was told to bypass it you either by an external drive or use a usb thumdrive. I had an 8GB one laying around, followed all the steps on http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us [...] -usb-stick, it installed fairly fast, now I'm stuck on the Completing Installation part for about 30-45 minutes now, is this normal? From what I've read it works for alot of people if they remove all their USB devices however thats what I have Win 7 on. Would I still need it in my usb port? Or could I take it out since its on the completing installation step and everything is already copied over? I can post my comp specs here if that would help anyone. It's possible I'm just anxious and it could normally take this amount of time on a Laptop. It's somewhat new Dell Studio XPS with what i would say above average specs.
When I wanted to re-install W7 I wiped all disc partitions, and then tried to install windows 7 (64 bit ultimate), but gets the following error: Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate and existing system partition. See the Setup log files for more information.
I recently downloaded the iso of Windows 7 64-bit Professional from my University's MSDN AA site. However when I boot up using the DVD it states an error in the Windows Boot Manager.
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem
1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2. Choose your language settings, and then click "Next."
3. Click "Repair your computer."
If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.

I have looked at other threads on this board and I have already tried toggling ACPI but there was no change. (It currently is set on and set to both S1&S3)
I have tried 3 different burns of the DVD a 16x using Nero 7 Express and 4x using Nero 7 Burning Rom, and lastly a 4x using ImgBurn and all of them turned out the same error.
I was formerly using Windows XP on my IDE drives listed on my hardware and I added the 1TB Sata to install windows 7 on, (however my IDE with XP Pro is still connected). I have also tried only having the Sata drive connected but it still amounts to the same error.
I have a question regarding installation of Win 7 via USB stick. My mobo is an Asus P8Z68-V Pro Gen 3 now I can successfully start a Win 7 install but when it gets to the point where it needs to load the drivers for my hard drive it gives me an error telling me that a device driver is missing. I can only imagine it is the driver for my motherboards SATA controllers because when I run the install off a CD it detects my hard drives but when I do it from my USB 3 stick (on the front panel of my case) it tells me it can't find my hard drive. Does anyone know how to insert the correct drivers into my USB stick? Does anyone know what drivers I need?
when googled it says something about the sata drive settings needing to be changed in the bios chang the setting for the sata operation from Raid auto/achi to raid auto ata but in the bios of the hp g61 there is no option for that, i verified this will work for the error because i just restored a dell vostro with a sata drive and it did work, now i just need to get this hp to work it has insydeH20 bios setup utility,
I am trying to install window 7 from a usb. It get to the loading windows files screen but right after that i get the 0xc0000001 error. Failed to load winload.exe.

When I go to create the new partition in Windows 7 that I want to install XP on it creates it as a logical drive. How do I create a primary partition instead?
I was following this http://blog.ryantadams.com/2008/02 [...] indows-pe/ guide and all was well. But after it found the DHCP server and said Press F12 for network boot service, I get this error.0xc0000001
