Windows 7 Pro 32 bit with 4 gig of RAM - Dell 630i.Recently I must have changed something because when trying to install a new keyboard I get that error ' Installation Prevented by Policy..Otherwise I might have to see if I can fix the problem by repairing my Windows 7 with the original CD/DVD.
I've tried loading media center but when I do I get the message "Windows cannot open this program because it has been prevented by a software restriction policy. For more information, contact your system administrator." The computer is my home PC, I am the only administrator... I'm assuming one of the programs my buddy put on my computer is stopping the program from running. He said the programs would make my computer run better. I had to manually turn on windows media center before from my control panel before. I also tried running the program as admin or even finding the ehshell.exe and running it from their.
I have an external HD, plug & play, that I cannot install on Windows 7. When I try, I get the error message "due to policy". I know this has something to due with the Admin configs, but I don't know how to change them.

Windows 7 Pro 32 bit on a domain?I have a group policy set on an OU named LAPTOPS. The policy gets applied, however the User ConfigWindows SettingScriptsLogon DOES NOT. When you run the GPRESULTS on the laptop, I see the policy settings being applied EXCEPT for the LOGON script. Its not there. I dont see any errors and cant figure out why Windows would ignore this one setting in the policy but apply the rest. I've tried deleting and recreating the policy but that does not work.

I have a scenerio where I have to allow normal users on 3 tablets (windows 7) to enable and disable the wireless adaptor. They do not have a keyboard, except for the touch screen. This is only for testing, so it is temporary.I have the netsh command in a batch which will either turn off of turn on the adaptor. Problem is that these users cannot have admin rights to run the batch. I can select 'run as administrator' as a property, but that still prompts for a password. Is there a way to allow the netsh batch file to run through a local security policy, just for now?
When i connect to VPN, it gets connected but when i enter user name and pwd, a message is displayed which says, the local policy of the sys does not allow you to logon.
I have logged in as administrator and I am trying to start up the 'Group Policy Editor' using gpedit.msc but Windows 7 can't find it. Is this something that has to be installed or comes inbuilt with Windows 7?

I've got a comp that used to be connected to a domain where it was locked down pretty tightly. I've got full admin rights on it, but it's still denying me the right to change settings in McAfee (and other programs like Windows Firewall, etc).I cleared out all group policies on the computer, but apparently not.Right now McAfee is the last thing I have to try to get a program working (I think it's stopping it from running), but I can't find any way to shut it down, prevent it from working, or enable specific programs, every single setting is grayed out.So, short of going into safe mode and deleting every McAfee file I can find, do you have any idea how I can completely wipe out all old security settings on this machine, group policies, etc?
I know that Win7 Home Premium does not have the group policy management console. As i only connect directly to my modem and do not file share or edit the computer remotely etc. From a security point of view, which policies would you recommend to change from their default state?,I'm aware that some if not all policies can be edited in regedit, are the registry values easy enough to find or should i just bite the bullet and upgrade my Windows 7 to Win7 Ultimate.
I always use wired network on my laptop , coz i didnt have any wireless network at home, but sometimes i use my wireless network so its working properly back then, one time i bring my laptop at office, and try to connect it via wireless and it seems i cant detect any wireless signal, i try to use troubleshooting so i can see whats happening, i just got a message saying "diagnostic policy service is not running" then i just look at my network adapters setting , i just turn them all to enable, including bluetooth, i just see one new adapter "virtual adapter" i think this comes from installing android via virtual box, i try to disable it but no luck, i try all what i read on google search, but all is no luck, one last thing i didnt try is to uninstall my driver and go to repair options on windows 7, my original cd is professional, but i upgrade it to ultimate, i didnt know if the repair disk will work. please any help. i do not want to have a clean install of OS

I am currently running a Server 2003 R2 domain with about 100 computers running WinXP Pro on it. Some of these computers are older tablet style computers that are used out in our shop floor area. We are looking to replace these with some newer Windows 7 mini-PC's. All of them connect to the network via wireless access points, as these stations need to be mobile so they can be taken to all areas of the shop.During the test setup of the device I can get it to join to the domain and it can connect to our main file server, which is also the primary DC, and download files with no problem. It can also connect to the mail server with no problems that I have noticed so far.
The issue arises, when it tries to connect to get Group Policy updates. when running "gpupdate /force" I get an error for both the user and computer parts of the update that says: "The Processing of Group Policy failed. Windows could not locate the directory object group policy..." When looking at the event logs, there are tons of GP errors, all of them are error 1101.

I have a multi-account pc that the whole family uses with the following accounts:-
1. Admin 2. Kids 3. Media
I spent ages yesterday setting up GPO (kidslocked.msc) for my kids account and had to go through EACH individual setting. Eventually i got it spot on, but the only problem was that in the event of a problem, i wanted to be able to reset the settings, so that i can setup anything i need. I ended up downloading/running a file from this site:- Where do i get a reset config file from for GPO?
That file has now reset my GPO settings, but it's also cleared the settings i saved for kidslocked.msc too.
Here is what i want to know:-
1. Can i get readymade GPO templates?2. If the answer to question 1 is NO, then how can i multi-select the settings??...i want to enable ALL settings in the Administrative Templates and then simply disable those that i don't want.
I can't no longer start Windows Media Center, when I try It get out the message "can not open the program because of a software restriction policy". I have Win 7 Ultimate 64bit.It is the only program that not starts and that occurred a few days ago after installing and uninstalling some alternative such mediacenter softwares as Mediaportal and Nextpvr.I've tried everything.
1 System restore..... impossible!: Mc: 2 Malawarebytes, ComboFix, thinking of a virus nothing! 3 Uninstalling and reinstalling Windows media center .... nothing! 4 Reinstall and reuninsinstalling of Mediaportal and Nextpvr nothing! 5 Event Log does not show any event at the error msg! 6 Local Security Policy. I entered a new rule with the path to the Wmce ehshell.exe making explicit without restriction .... nothing! 7 Installing all new updates of Win 7 .... 8 Searching on the internet not much! 9 Lourdes or a miracle?
I'm trying to stop users having the option to right click on a program and select run as administrator, but i still want to keep to right click menu, i've been trying to to this as a group policy.
I started to install a home network, but was interrupted. Now Windows 7 will not complete its startup except to say "access is denied." I did not start a recovery point before, hoping to get all the updates, etc. on before needing recovery. Is there any way to fix the problem without reloading everything?
