I bought a windows 7 premium download version from the online store. Now I have to burn the ISO file onto a dvd. But here is the problem... I am on the download page and there are 2 files there.. one is the ISO file and then there is the bootsect.exe

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am installing Windows 7 (Custom installation initiated from Windows XP) but I get the following error message when the installation is on the "Installing updates" step of the installation:
"Setup cannot continue due to a corrupted installation file. Contact the vendor of your Windows installation disc or your system administrator for assistance."
Do you have any idea what the problem may be with the installation? Is there a way to see what file that may be corrupted?
I have tried to burn the DVD in low speed, but the error appears anyway. I have a MSI K8T Neo2-Fir mainboard and the Windows 7 upgrade advisor application says that my hardware is okay for upgrading.
I downloaded the VMware software to my C: drive, and when I clicked the file to open it, it opened to about 90% at which point I got the following error: Setup cannot continue. The Microsoft Runtime DLL installer failed to complete installation.I have Windows 7 and plenty of HD space. I've never had this installation problem before. It seems that Windows 7 has been a lot of trouble since I've bought this laptop; I've encountered numerous problems with software using it, though I don't know if this problem is related to it.
View 14 Replies View RelatedOkay, I'm trying to hook this thing up to my new Dell Inspiron 15R. The thing is, when I plug it in, it keeps failing the driver installation. Ok now here is other part. I have used this controller perfectly fine on my previous HP Mini 210. As you know, that's a pretty weak computer compared to the one I just bought.w, after about 2 hours of researching, I've downloaded the current drivers from M$, and that didn't help at all. Next I came across someone who said check the device manager. Okay, so I did a cross examination with both computers and found the netbook had something called "universal serial bus usb controller" drivers with several others branching off while my Dell did not. Also the fact that the Mini uses USB2.0 while the Dell is 3.0.So I've come to the conclusion that my Dell is lacking(and it is) these "Controller" drivers. Now the annoying part is when I use the device manager to search for updates, it says it can't find anything. I've googled around(and used the driver disk that came with my Dell) to no avail.I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could help with my problem. I'm just using the controller for gaming. It works fine in the netbook, so I don't think power to the controller is an issue. My M$ drivers are up to date so I don't think it's those either.

When trying to install from folder it says Microsoft Bootstrap manager or something has stopped working. What can I do? This is all a clean install with no previous office on a brand new PC with nothing inside.... when it did not worked I reimage windows 7 back [pristine format with nothing on] and tried folder method. I recently purchased my own, so I emailed the file from her computer onto mine and downloaded it onto my Office Word 2007. The file was uncompatible with my version of office (even though it was from the same disc we bought for my Mum's computer) so it was always saved to autosave. In order to upload it to the school it needs to be saved to the computer and not in autosave. So I tried to save it, and got a pop-up message that told me it was incompatible but I could still save it with no problems. (i don't remember the exact wording) So I went ahead and hit "yes". now the file is missing from the computer and no matter how much searching I do i can't find it. Any shortcuts or links to it that existed before don't exist anymore.

And while I'm waiting, I can't do anything else on the computer. Any of those files I open the rest of the day, open immediately. It's just the first time each day.

When I go into control panel it tells me that I have MS.NET Framework 4 Client Profile. But cannot uninstall it. When I go to the "turn windows feature on/off" option it says I have MS.NET Framework 3.5.1
I've tried reloading version 4 from the MS website but it tells me I already have version 4 (or the download is being blocked). I've tried a clean boot - doesn't help. I've tried turning off Norton - doesn't help. Error code is 66A (unknown error).
I'm running Windows 7 Home premium on a Dell Studio One. Problems with these downloads seem to be quite common.
