IE9 Reopen Last Browsing Session Option Is Not Working
Jan 31, 2012
I just downloaded internet explorer 9. Previously, I was using IE8. Every day, when ie8 would open up (it would load automatically at startup from AOL IM), I would go to Tools -> Reopen last browsing session, and all the tabs and pages I had open when I closed my previous session would load (though in reverse order left to right, annoyingly). Now that I'm running IE9, when I go to Tools -> Reopen last browsing session, the option is greyed out - it does not work. The only time it works is if I close IE9 and then reopen the browser without rebooting. If I reboot, which I do every day, the option is not available like it used to be in IE8. (Seems like every time I download an updated version of anything anymore, something inevitably stops working or is worse than it was before - this soooo tiresome.)
I've tried a regedit I found somewhere on these forums - setting for 'turn off reopen last browsing session' to 'disable'. Didn't work.I do not have IE9 set to delete my browsing history on exit.I have the box checked for Automatically recover from page layout errors with compatibility view.
In internet explorer when i open it up and restore my last session it opens up many windows, including my last session, a session i may have had 2 weeks ago and other sessions?
i tried excess my download folder in 'my documents' there were short cuts created for each folder which was previously not there.these short cuts were not eccesible "excess denied" my nortan antivirus program detected a trojan horse (vircure 32 exe.). there are unknown new files (ntuser.dat) created too. when i tried to delet tthe massage " if deleted windows or a program may not work" apeared. i have not done anything yet.
I trouble shot an issue with RDP that has me to believe the sollution lies in somthing to do with printer settings in Windows 7.Affected computer RDP's sucessfully logs into a load ballanced terminal server farm, several moments into the session being established I am getting the "Remote Desktop stopped working" dialog box. This issue is localized to this single computer and is fixed by unchecking the "pinters" option in the remote desktop settings. this computer acts as a print server to a small laserjet printer, all other computer on this small LAN can successfully print to this printer from their local desktop or while connected to RDP sessions. I have tried : Rebuilding RDP desktop icon for user. New Local machine user accounts. starting/stopping Print spool services. USB and LPT1 cables (currently on LPT1). I'm 2 inches away from backing up this users data and giving them a new computer. It doesn't make any sense
I am connected to a wireless WEP network using a TrendNet wireless adapter running Win 7. The Internet will stop working for some unknown reason only on my PC that uses this wireless adapter, but just web browsing stops working. Skype and Torrent still works. On my MacBook the Internet will still work during these periods.
I recently bought a new desktop (Dell Intel core i5 2500 processor, 8gb ram, Windows 7 64bit Pro version). It is set up for automatic updates and I have not tweaked or added anything except Norton anti virus software. I am running IE9 (v9.02).
Yesterday I went to check up in IE9 Browsing History for a site I had visited earlier and found it was only displaying internal sites on my desktop visited. None of the various websites I had visited showed up. I looked back to earlier days and it was the same, nothing except internal searches.
I looked on the web for fixes, and found suggestions to check Internet options to check if it was set to Delete Browsing History when exiting search. It is not. Also to check if I am running In Private Browsing. I am not. And to try a reset of IE9 - I did and it made no difference.
I also have a Samsung Netbook running Windows 7 starter and the same version of IE9 (9.02) also running Norton anti virus and that is working just fine. So is it related to having Windows 7 64 bit version? Is there a fix?
I was hoping someone knew of a Utility that allowed a person to save a shortcut or similar of all of their open files so that after a restart, would allow you to reopen said files. On many occasion, such as after Patch Tuesday or running SUPERAntiSpyware, I need to conduct a restart but refrain from doing so because I have so many pdf, ppt, xls, doc, and emails open. Trying to remember all of these files to open after a restart, is very cumbersome. FireFox allows for this by reopening all tabs. Is there a way to do this for other applications' files.
I am using OS 7. One Day suddenly a Pop Up message displayed and shown as E: Drive Corrupted. After Restarting my System The Drive is Not Opening, And it is mentioned in the drive NTFS. After opening the drive a message is display. "E: is not accessible. Access is denied". How to reopen my E drive without formatting.
Dell laptop running Windows 7.Always had option to put computer in sleep mode when closing cover. That option is gone. Also, mic stopped working. And when turning on computer, display has changed everything is large, and need to go back in and reset resolution. Tried going back two weeks in a system restore.
I located the SEND TO folder, and deleted the fax option, and added a folder I wanted. Both of thes options appear in the send to options list when I right click, and the folder works that I added. After searching the internet the only help I found for adding my default printer, HP 8600, like I did in Win XP told me what I alredy knew.So i opened the DEND TO folder and Dragged/Dropped the Default Printer into the folder and created a shortcut there. So far so good. The printer option appears in the FOLDER, but does not appear as an option when one right-clicks on a doc. I tried a reboot of the system, but it remains the same.
since a few days the hibernate option is not working on my computer. I tried the Microsoft fix it programs for disabling and enabling hibernation, but it didn't help.
I did a Windows 7 Repair Install on my HP (G62) laptop, 64 BIT, and installed an HP Deskjet F4180 printer,it went on virtual USB001. Recently, when printing from various PDF files, I cannot print multiple pages of a document. It prints a single random page of the document, then gives printer error, and moves the document into queue, where I have to cancel the job. It seems to work OK in other application documents however. And it even seemed to work for an older small PDF file.Im running the laptop on wireless, with router configured to automatic DHCP, shows 2 devices, the laptop and the wired Desktop, and seems to be running fine. The network is set to Public.I uninstalled all HP programs, drivers, and reinstalled the latest full printer driver & software for 64 BIT from HP website. I stopped & restarted the print spooler service.I tried different USB ports, cables, connection steps.I tried HP scan utilities for fixing, and tried Windows Troubleshoot (which temporarily fixes issue for a single print job)Thru printers & devices all printer & USB drivers show up, are updated, & working. In Printer Properties, I tried printing directly to printer setting, but then NOTHING prints at all.As far as I remember the printer worked properly on my desktop, Windows 7, 32 BIT version.I also reinstalled ADOBE PDF, in case its the applications fault SFC /scannow doesnt find a problem Ive done CCleaner, DiskCleanup, CheckDisk, also no Virus, Malware detected thru the AV applications The Event viewer shows ID #602 :The print spooler failed to reopen an existing printer connection because it could not read the configuration information from the registrykeyS-1-5-21-3851181124-22741... Deskjet D4100 series. This can occur if the key name or values are malformed or missing.MS -Windows Print Service, Spooler Operation failed.I looked at the registry keys, but I dont know if they are in fact incorrect, or what to look for, what they should be ?HP support says its most likely a Windows & corrupted file or spooler service & registry (which I doubt because this is a new Repai Install !) Also, with spooler bypass it doesnt print.
In my laptop existing OS is Windows 7 Home Premium x64.
Hardware config is HP i7 Quad processor 1.7 GHz. 4 GB DDR3 Ram, 500 GB HDD.
My system perf is slow. I installed few softwares. I have deselected most of the startup services and programs from msconfig. Eventhough my system bootup time is slow, and whenever i open mycomputer it taking time to load.
I have decided to install Windows 7 Enterprise Edition x64 by formatting my C drive. But there is no option while i do clean install.
I have a windows 7 desktop at the office which I leave on so I can remotely connect to it (at home) via VPN. Problem is, after the remote session my Win 7 Desktop logs off, which I find annoying since I leave open documents as is for my work the next day. How can I disable this feature?
In IE8 on Windows 7, clearing cookies via Tools -> Internet Options -> Browsing History/Delete... only deletes cookies with expiration dates, leaving all session cookies (those that expire when the browser is closed). The only way I've found to delete the session cookies is to go through Developer Tools and select Cache -> Clear Session Cookies. So it's a 2-step process in completely different dialogues to clear all the cookies and get a clean slate. As a web developer this is extremely annoying. I understand there are some utilities out there for dealing with this like ccleaner.
IE8 on WN7 Pro 64, Standard user, IE8 shortcut in task bar opens a session with my favorites and options as I tuned them. All is well. Now, if IE8 is not open when I click on a link in email or any other place including thumb drives WN 7 starts a new IE8 session in a freshly opened window, however no favorites and no options I set, just the options as per the first time one uses IE8. In fact I get the first use welcome screen. How do I get a link to open IE8 in a fully functional and tuned IE8 session? OBTW my IE8 version is 8.0.7601.17514.
Is there session saver for IE 9? My box is windows 7 x64, and I need to save session with tabs. When I cleaned garbage files with ccleaner or other tools, I could not open the session with "about:Tabs". If there is something like session manager of FireFox.
I have connected to my PC using teamviewe and restarted my pc, and i was unable to connect to the session, as my pc didnt restart it just shut on saying 'Force restart' or cancel' but shut down teamview.
Migrated to Win 7 from XP Pro.I have client VM's that I need to monitor from time to time. In a crisis I might have to open 100 RDP sessions at one time. I could do this in XP with a paging problem. This is one of the reasons I built this monster. I now have 6 monitors and 12 Gig of ram.Alas I can only open 15 RDP sessions at a time without having Windows 7 attempt to scan for viruses. Also is there a way to globally set ( or preserve ) the Registry data for RDP network connections.I have never been able to find a way to migrate a section of the registry from one machine to another.I have to enter in the user name and password for each of these users again. 200 plus.
My issue is that I am trying to Remotely Login to several computers that are in various locations, and then have these remote compters VPN to other networks so they can process some data. I can connect to the computers remotely jsut fine. I am also using NCP secure client to VPN to the works network. However the NCP session on the remote computers say they are connected, when I try to connect wiht my oracle client to the server I get an ora-12154 error as if there is no vpn session to my works network.
My machines are all Windows 7 64 or 32 bit. They all are connecting to the network using NCP client. I am remotely logging in to them using LogMeIn.com (Also tried the windows remote session).
I have changed my OS several times from win7 to win8 and then recently I finally use linux 13 which did not complete its installation. I was running it from a DVD and using the live session. I wanted to reinstall win7 but when I reach where I'm to select a partition, nothing is there and I'm told to that no drivers are found. When I run linux live I see the HDD and it content.
Just thought I'd pass on this slightly dirty fix for no session manager in IE9 I'm using Win 7 x64?IE9 only offers to restore your session automatically at startup only if IE crashed. Here's a 1 line batch file that kills the IE process so that when you start it again it offers to restore your last session. I put the shortcut to the batch file in my quicklaunch toolbar and just needed to get in the habit of closing IE via the shortcut. Here' the contents of the batch file...
How do I configure Windows 7 to lock my RDP session only (but not the console session) after predefined time of inactivity (idle)? By default Windows 7 does not disconnect or lock RDP sessions.

I am trying to install Windows 7 on my Acer Predator 7750G but everytime the first installation phase stops it says that it cannot configure my computer so the installation will stop.I have had some virus problems on my HDD were i couldn't see what was on them, that is the reason why i have choosen to install from scratch on the computer!
In windows XP perfmon asked every time I wanted to close it if it should save the settings / session. In Windows 7 it says nothing and I see no way to save all the counters I've set up. There is an option to Save Settings but I see no option to load them back. Basically I want Performance Monitor to startup as I left him the last time. Any hints?
