Aug 2, 2012I have a new laptop but want all of the programs and applications that i have on my old laptop. How can I transfer everything from the old to the new pc? I am using Windows 7 on both.

Jan 10, 2009But I installed Windows 7 64 with the dual boot option, and have Vista 32 as my regular OS. Is there any way to transfer the programs from the Vista partition over to the Win 7 partition without re-installing each and every program?
On a related note - is there a way to transfer my old desktop from Vista over to Win 7 just the way it is?

Apr 15, 2011Ordered my new SSD a few days ago for a boot up drive with a few other games and programs (only 50gb) I was wondering if i could install win7 on the ssd and then transfer the programs to the ssd? Like could i take the cod4, photoshop, sony vegas. folder and copy it to program files on the ssd and then format the old hdd to get rid of the operating system on it and other unwanted things? Or will i have to reinstall everything.

Aug 4, 2012I saved my files and settings from a previous installation of windows 7 to an external hard drive using windows easy transfer. Now when I try to transfer those files and setting to my new installation I get the following message:
Windows Easy Transfer can't transfer your files and settings.
The message pops up only a few seconds after the transfer begins.Why is this?! I need those files and windows has screwed me.Everything is basically the same as before I reinstalled. Same computer, same windows 7 installation just recovered to factory settings.Same system language as before.BTW I'm on a Toshiba L505 laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium.
I have tried all the usual suspects such as a clean boot and uninstalling my antivirus to rule out third party interference. I have more than enough space on both my computer and on the external hard drive. I have tried only transferring a user account a few MBs large. I have reinstalled the OS twice just in case something went wrong there. I have clicked on the .MIG file directly. All lead to the same error message.The transfer file seems to be intact and not currupt
Is there another software other than WET that can use the same transfer file that WET created to restore my files? Please help me solve this if you can or at least point me in the right direction because right now I'm clueless. I can't emphasize how important those files are to me. I've searched for solutions on several forums and it seems that this is a problem people have been having for years now and windows hasn't provided an answer yet.
An interesting note, When I reboot the laptop after trying to do the transfer, a new user account appears at startup alongside the one I normally use.This new user account has the same unique name of the user account I am trying to restore but that's where the similarity ends.All the settings for this account are default settings and empty folders.

Feb 3, 2013Every time I start up normally into Win7 everything is fine for a couple of minutes. I'll open a few programs, then after a few minutes of them running they'll hang and enter the 'not responding' mode. (firefox, steam, IE). If I don't already have task manager running the system will basically be unresponsive and the only thing I can do is reboot manually. If I have task manager running I can sometimes end a process or two but some will remain open & unresponsive. Any programs that are working (including task manager) disappear when I minimize them and no programs appear on the task bar, (though they can be retrieved with alt+tab).
McAfee also has 'real time scanning' permanently disabled.
This is all very strange as there was nothing wrong four days ago when I was away, and the symptoms occured within 2-3 minutes of booting up this evening. The system runs in safe mode.

Dec 23, 2012i got a canon 600D digital SLR camera, and whenever i take photos with it the file size is usually somewhere between 5-12 Mb per photo.
i have this annoying problem that whenever i want to transfer the files to my computer via the USB cable, if a photo is above 10Mb the whole copying process stops and i find myself having to copy each photo manually, one by one. i have to emphasize that i have no problems with other devices or usb sticks, and the camera itself is working perfectly. also, the problem only arises when i try to copy the whole files in bulk from the camera to my pc.
is it my camera thats wrong? could it be that my sd card isnt fast enough? (it's 30mb/sec)
