View 5 RepliesMy laptop's(dell inspiron, windows 7) hardrive recently crashed, and I lost everything. And I'm trying to transfer everything from my ipod touch back to my computer. I've read about how you can do it, but whenever i plug my ipod in it comes up as a digital camera. And not in 'devices with removable storage'.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just bought an HP g6 laptop the other day with Windows Home Premium x64, and I wanted to bring all my music from my Ipod classic to my new computer. It is normally a straightforward process, but whenever I try it with the new computer, Windows 7 crashes. I tried to do a bit of trouble shooting myself, but to no avail. I downloaded the Microsoft Host Controller Driver Update for HP users, but when I went to install it, the error message "Update did not install (259)" came up. I don't know what to do about it, but a lot of people seem to have similar problems that have to do with nvidia chipsets or something.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have recently purchased a new computer and storeed all my files from my old computer onto an external hard drive, I have successfully transferred all my files from the external drive onto my new computer with the exception of music.
The way I did this was to open my external hard drive and at the same time opened Windows Media Player on my computer and dragged the files from the external hard drive onto the new computer, everything seemed to be ok, all the music was organized in genre and albums titles etc, however when I tried to open a file to play a window came up telling me that the file was empty, I know that the music files can be playe3d on my external harde drive.
My I pod was showing connected but the computer showed no connection and all sync greyed out. windows 7.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a 6 month old computer with Windows 7 on it. Anyhow, I always use iTunes and backup/load songs from it to my iPhone 4 and 2nd gen iPod.About a week ago is when I last was able to connect my iPod to itunes and load new songs. However now my computer no longer recognizes my iPod. I thought it was iTunes at fault but my computer still recognizes my iPhone no problem (with the same cord) and my computer also recognizes my gps watch with its own separate cord.I've tried restarting my computer, unplugging it, using both USB ports but to no avail. The ipod charges when plugged in to the computer but it just isn't being recognized (there are no removable storage devices showing in my computer either).I opened device manager and it shows 2x Generic USB Hub, 2x Intel 6 Series...Hos Controller, 2x USB Root Hub, 1x USB Mass Storage Device. When I go to properties > details > hardware ids of the USB Mass Storage Device it shows USBVID_0BDA&PID_158 and also USBVID_0BDA&PID_158&REV_5888.

Still working on my friend's laptop. I told him to backup all of his files, and specifically directed him to his iTunes Music folder. I then wiped his drive, etc. Now, he says... when the iTouch is plugged in, it should 1) "automatically" install iTunes from the iTouch, 2) the computer will then "remember" his name, settings, and iTouch serial number, 3) so that it can restore the library from all of the music, etc. from the iTouch-- 4) which is NOT the same as the iTunes Music folder, as there is much more on the iTouch that is not in that folder. Again, he tells me this NOW. *Note* The data files (ie iTunes Music folder) have not yet been moved back onto this drive.
1) I had already installed iTunes before I let him try to resync his iTouch. He insisted that me installing it before he plugged the iTouch in is one of the things that is causing this not to "work," so he uninstalled, redownloaded & reinstalled the new version anyway, iTunes 10.5, this morning.
2) He insists that, upon opening up the program the FIRST time, the computer "remembered" his name since it says "[name, name]'s Library" under Preferences. "That's cuz when I installed Windows 7, I put your username as the same that you had. It's just taking it from your username." "So, it remembered?" And he says, "All the settings are the same." "Well, then, you must have just happen to have had them set as the same thing that is default." After nearly 2 weeks, he does not understand what an operating system is or what "erasing everything on the drive so it is completely and utterly blank," means.
3) As for restoring the iTunes library from what is on his iTouch, I'm at a loss there. My first experience with iTunes ever was when a friend put his whole library on my new & empty iTunes, but that was back in 2006.
4) Is it even possible to sync things onto your iTouch without going through iTunes, when it is set up to only work with iTunes, so that the content ends up on the iTouch, but is somehow NOT under iTunes control & thus dumped into the iTunes Music folder? Now I'm just getting confused...
Ok, I have the iTouch 3rd generation 32GB and I am about to upgrade my Hp p6130f to Windows 7.
However, I heard that Windows 7 is now compatible with new Ipod models?
Is it true?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently copied my enormous music folder from old HD to new HD and I am having trouble sorting the newly migrated files to how they appeared previously on my old computer. Whenever I downloaded an album on my old PC, the album folder would be the most recent in my List view. Now on the new computer I can't get these same folders to arrange any other way but alphabetically! I relied on the previous method of sorting so that I could always know where to look for recently downloaded albums. I have tried just about every 'Sort by' option there is on my new Win 7 machine.

Otherwise, I would just do the install via the install cd's

Problem is I have an IPhone. And can't sync without ITunes. I've heard something about winamp able to sync IPods, but cant find much info on it. I could care less about backups and all the other garbage ITunes offers. All I want is a way to play music on my computer and also move that music to my IPhone. Nothing else.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen listening to music on my PC, it does not matter if I use Winamp, Songbird, Quicktime, Windows Media Player, or any other software. Every so often, there appears some sort of distortion, like the drive that the music is on slows down. I dont know if it is the driver or what. Its hard to explain. You have to hear it. I dont think its the mp3 file itself, cause I could play a song and it will be perfect, but then the next time I play it, it will distort. It is really driving my nuts cause I can't find the reason for it.

now this is where i run into my problem, now my motherboard has failed on me, and im in the process of building a new computer from scratch.. new everything except my hardrive(since its brand new 5-6 months ago), and video card...
how would i take my hard drive with Windows 7 64 bit oem version installed on it and use it on my new setup.. i really dont wanna buy another Windows 7 when i literally just bought it.. i read on here that somone posted doing it through "sysprep", but i cant do the first few steps since my mobo is shot... before i make this post anymore confusing this is my situation what should/could i do to make this work using my hdd with Windows 7 already on it along with my 4000+ audio files any thing else on the hard drive i could care less about...
p.s not sure if this is 100% accurate i have not read into it, but i hear Windows 7 unlike other win versions are now bound to mobo once installed.. if this is the case am i sh!t out of luck, or are their ways around it?
I purchased a retail copy of Windows 7 Home Premium Edition which included both the 32 bit and 64 bit discs. I am currently using the 32 bit version on my computer. I am considering using the Update Anytime online to upgrade to Windows Pro. In the future, if I build a new computer, can I use the 64 bit disc for install, or am I limited to the 32 bit, since I have already used it? If I can use the 64 bit version, can I still use the key provided for the upgrade to Windows Pro for my old computer? I don't want to upgrade my old computer to Windows Pro edition if I can't transfer it to a 64 bit version I would need for a new computer. Would the correct sequence be to install the 64 bit Home Premium edition to the new computer, then use the key provided by Microsoft for the Pro version update given to me on the 32 bit update?
