I am running the classic theme of Windows 7 Ultimate and want to remove a few Icons.The first one is when your on a windows it has an icon of the program of the Top Left.The second one is the taskbar, How can I remove the Start Button Windows Flag Logo and each programs Icon for every program?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSome of the icons normally showing what a program type is are missing now. I HAVE all the DESKTOP icons and those in the system tray. But in Windows Explorer lists or in Word Perfect and Word lists of file names, many of the small icons that normally appear next to a program's name, or showing what type of document or file it is, are now missing. Not all, just some. I have mostly open square boxes. It doesn't matter whether I'm looking at a list of files I've created, or looking at the items in various system folders: most are just empty open squares instead of the individual icons. I have Windows 7 64-bit OS , both Mozilla 17 and IE9 browsers.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI don't know where this error hs_err_pid came from.I closed down explorer and there were all this notepad messages on my desktop and I can't get rid of them. Researching, I know this is a Java thing. I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times to no avail.My windows update is fully updated.I've run 3 virus programs.I notice this was addressed for someone using XP but what of Windows 7? My add/remove program file only contines the program Java (TM) update 29. Nothing else is listed as far as Java is concerned.I've run cleaner programs and these did not take care of the problem. Every time I restart my machine these errors immediate pop up at start up.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been using a program called Raw Therapee. I downloaded a new version and on installing it quit saying the old version must be removed. I could not find it listed in Revo Unistaller Pro, so I did a forced uninstall with the location of the main executable. This removed a lot of stuff. I checked the program folder and the folder and many files were still there, so I deleted them. I did a CCleaner in between and after. I then unhide and show system files and deleted the folders in the Appdata of main user and admin account, couldn't find it anywhere else.
CCleaner again and reboot. Went to install the new version again and it claimed that the old version was still installed. I did a search for *aw The* and found an entry in the hidden Program Data Folder. In the Admin account it will not let me in this folder to delete any remnants of the old version of Raw Therapee.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy friend had an issue where he recently installed a program, and then went on to uninstall it. He cleaned out all the registry issues and leftover files. However, in his notification tray (Windows 7 Professional), the app icon remains. Not in the actual notification tray, given that the app never does anything. When he goes to the little arrow, and then hits "Customize", the app shows up. Is there any way to get rid of it manually?He's already reinstalled/re-uninstalled the program. Didn't work.

I changed the desktop (network, my computer etc) icons back to default but can't manage to change the others. If i go into properties for the program and change it that way it doesn't do anything.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was experiencing problems with the icons for the front and back buttons in the explorer.exe . I ran the sfc /scannow command and it fixed that issue. However, after reboot All programs assosiated with Microsoft (Word, PowerPoint, MSN, etc.) I don't know what's going on but ITS REALLY annoying me.I ran the /scannow didn't do anything with my icons. I found a tutorial on icon cache. It fixed it to the point where it is an .exe file but still doesn't have the original icon?

Once I rebooted and came back up all of my icons are blank piece of paper with the corner turned over and stuff in the middle. IE is still the correct "e", my antivirus is correct, but other than that all programs have changed to the blank paper icon.

I was experimenting with DPI Scaling and changed from 125% to 150%. Didn't like that so returned to 125% and when I returned to the desktop, all of the program icons had a generic icon that appears to be overlaid. Haven't been able to find anything to return the icons to normal.

I did an upgrade from Vista Ultimate to 7077 ultimate..Everything went smoothly with only one or two uncompatible programs. when I click on Start | All Programs every one of my installed programs icons are missing. I have to search for the program to start it and pin it to the taskbar if I want to keep it accessible.I've tried a few registry hacks, security settings and even tried to copy some shortcuts over. I also tried restoring all the default shortcuts to the C:UsersMYUSERNAMEAppDataRoamingMicrosoftWindowsStart Menu - You can see in the screenshot only a few items have shown up.I've tried creating a new admin account and the problem is repeated there as well..No program icons in the All Programs Menu. My version is activated.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi have an icon on my taskbar for the program Steam on my taskbar that cannot be removed.
what happened was i changed the name of the one of the program's parent folders, and now when i right click on in, no menu pops up, and i can't drag down to get any menu...
i attempted to fix this by changing the parent folder's name back to it's original, but to no avail.
I set up a program to "RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR" by right clicking on the program .exe (and/or the program Shortcut) and checking the "run as administrator" option under the compatability tab...to see if the program would run any better.
After evaluation, I decided that the "run as administrator" option was probably not necessary for the program, so I went in and removed the checkbox....thinking that the program would no longer use the "run as administrator" option.
I was evidently wrong, or I did something wrong, because the program still shows the little "administrator" shield thingy on the icon, and it still gives me a popup verifying that I want it run as administrator.
I tried this with several different programs, and I get the same thing...when I want to remove the administrator privs, the program still pops up and asks to run as administrator.
Am I going about this the wrong way?? or am I missing something here??
I "skipped" Vista and went right to Windows 7 x64 Ultra from XP, and I have for the most part been very happy with the new OS. I am still getting a feel for it though.
Examples: I was trying to solve a problem with the game Left-4-Dead..so I took some advice from these forums and "ran as administrator". I have since solved the problem, and I would like to stop running the program as administrator.
After downloading an update of the Adobe lens corrector program from lab.adobe.com I now have the unwanted ask.com search program. This program acts as the default search engine in both Explorer and Firefox when using speech recognition software to initiate a search. Ask.com is not listed with any of the search programs, and is not listed as a program or a plug-in in Windows 7. I even tried restoring Windows 7 to an earlier date but ask.com program still remains in the computer. It does not show up under a malware to search. I would like to get rid this unwanted piece of crap but I don't know how.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've had my Windows 7 PC for a year and a half now, and the entire time I've had it I've had Firefox pinned to the taskbar, and when I click on the icon, the program opens AND the icon stays there on the taskbar. It has been like this since I've had the computer. This is how I want it.
I don't know if it's coincidence or not, but today I updated Firefox to version 14, and now when I click the pinned taskbar icon, the program opens and the taskbar icon for Firefox disappears. I know you can set up a quicklaunch workaround (I've done that, but I'm just not satisfied), I know you can click this and that to get a new window to open, but all I want is my computer back the way it has been for the last 18 months.
I can get the functionality that I had back. I've read in certain threads that Windows 7 is designed for them to disappear when opened. It was never this way on my PC and I just want my setup back how I had it. I tried rolling back to FF 13 to no avail.
