Can Microsoft not make a generic driver to fix this? The chipset used on this Terratec is a commonly used soundcard chipset if I'm not mistaken. Surely MS can conjure up a driver that will work and not let my Soundcard crash the whole PC just bc I want to listen to some music?

View 1 Replies View RelatedAlright so, I just got a new computer yesterday and it just so happened to have Windows 7 64-Bit on it. I am a new user, that in a few days has switched from XP to 7. I own a Samsung BlackJack II, which I have done countless modifications to, and now, I cannot seem to sync it up, let alone, connect it to my computer. When I plug it in, via USB.
It worked the first time, synced it and everything with Windows Mobile Device Center, but then when I unplugged and replugged it in, driver's were corrupt(obviously), and tried uninstalling it all, and then reinstalling them all, drivers and WMDC, and I get a little notification that informs me that the drivers were unsuccessfully installed.
Which is no longer making any sense to me... At all! lol, so I was wandering could you guys help me out here? I'm new to Windows 7 and I hope that this Community, gives me a lot of insight, and information to get back on my feet.
I was originally having problems with Realtek HD Audio Manager properly operating my front panel audio jacks, so I attempted to update my audio drivers using the ones found on Realtek's website (2.70). After restarting, my computer has failed to load and locate the new drivers and in the task bar, the usual volume icon has a red and white X; mouse-overing brings up the message "No speakers or headphones are plugged in" (despite my speakers being plugged into the proper lime analog jack on my motherboard). Opening the Sound window from my control panel shows that there is only one option under playback devices: AMD HDMI Output, which it shows as not plugged in.
There is no analog speaker present, even with both "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices" checked by right clicking on the window. Within my device manager, under the 'Sound, video and game controllers' heading, there is only the AMD High Definition Audio Device. Under the 'System devices' heading, the only relevant devices are two High Definition Audio Controllers, one of which has a yellow caution symbol. Within the properties, under 'Device status', it displays "This device cannot start. (Code 10)". Both it and the working High Definition Audio Control point to the same driver, hdaudbus.sys.
In summary:
- No sound out of speakers.
- Sound icon in desktop taskbar says "No speakers or headphones plugged in" despite plugged in speakers
- Realtek HD Audio Manager does not open on system startup
- No analog sound present in Control Panel > Sound > Playback
- Two High Definition Audio Controller devices present in device manager, one with an error symbol, both pointing to the same windows (not realtek) HD driver
- No analog sound devices present in device manager
- Possibly incomplete install of Realtek Drivers upon reinstall attempt - installed files do not load when opened.
- No Rtlcpl.exe program present.
Steps already taken:
- Installed most recent version of Realtek HD Audio Codec (2.70) from realtek's website
- Redownload and reinstall of same drivers
- Download of Realtek HD Audio Codec (2.65 I believe, I'd have to uninstall to see)
- Redownload and reinstall of same drivers
- Extraction of files from .zip version of 2.70 drivers, unable to point to these drivers.
- Cleaning of registry (working on hunch that uninstalls of realtek drivers have lead to registry items being left that are preventing proper reinstall)
- System restore to week before the problem (loads original drivers, problem is still present)
- Removal of RTKVHD64.sys from c:WindowsSystem32drivers (was present after uninstall. I believe it was a remnant from the old system restored drivers, which couldn't be uninstalled due to missing registry files. File still remains outside of drivers folder as a backup)
- Ensuring integrated audio is inabled within the BIOS
- Update of BIOS
- Update of motherboard chipset.
Relevant System Specs:
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional (64 Bit)
Motherboard: Intel DP55WG
Video Card: AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series
Hunches I have:
Something to do with hdaudbus.sys - old related problems dealing with the AC'97 realtek drivers with respect to Win XP mention windows' UAA Bus Driver, which is what this is. Something in my registry is preventing me from installing Realtek properly. Maybe I need to give the full .zip a try again? Maybe I need to repeat these steps in safemode? I've been trying everything through normal installs and restarts. Try to find original driver disk from motherboard. (Having no luck with this). Last resort is reformat of C: drive.
I have red, Windows 7 needs at least 20 GB to run properly, is it true? Or are 2, 3 GB enough?
View 14 Replies View RelatedWell basically I am restoring my computer like I do every one and a while, but this time it started freaking out it is at the install page for Microsoft Office 2010 and the loading bar wouldn't load past 18/27. I left it here for like 10 hours so i know it's not working right. I also tried turning my computer off and back on again, but it just goes back to the same screen. However when I turn it back on I can hit F2 and F12 for the booting menus, but I couldn't find anything of help there. Oh and if I close my laptop and open it in switches users and I can't log back in to the only account says I don't have permission. I'm not sure what to do after that, it didn't come with a disk it's all in the computer.I use a 64bit windows 7.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a three month old HP DV7-3085dx which suddenly stopped shutting down correctly. I hangs at the "shutting down" screen. I have to power it down manually to shut it off then of course I get the message that windows shut down incorrectly. I'm at my wits end with this. Today I restored the laptop for the fourth time back to when it was new. I used Mozbackup and even that didn't work with the Thunderbird backup so I lost all my contacts. It worked fine with the Firefox backup. I'm attaching the file that was in the minidump directory as several other posters were instructed to do.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am running windows 7 64 bit on my desktop PC. I have had it for...something like a year and a half now. And just in the last couple weeks I have suddenly had this problem. The issue is that my Windows apparently cannot shut down properly. It shuts down, there is no hanging up or anything. Any time I shut down or restart, it goes to the blue "Shutting Down" screen and message, the cursor does it's rotating "timing" thing, and then the system shuts down. But when it restarts, I get the "Windows did not shut down successfully" and it asks me if I want to start in one of the safe mode variations, or to start normally. Every single time. Windows shuts down, but then restarts and tells me it did not shut down properly. And many changes I made before shutting down were not retained, but some are. For example, I patched a game, and that information was retained on restart. But I moved some desktop icons around, bookmarked some pages in Firefox, closed Firefox pages, changed msconfig for a clean boot, and none of those changes were retained.
I have gotten a screen freeze and BSOD a couple of times in the last few weeks as well, but only a couple of times, while the "failure to shut down properly" problem happens with every single shutdown and restart I do.
I'm losing my mind a bit here. The only real practical problem it's causing me at the moment is that every time I restart my computer, I have to rearrange my desktop icons, and every time I open Firefox, it wants to restore a session I had closed and exited from, and I can't bookmark any websites. It's annoying, but doesn't keep me from functioning.
i have a windows 7 home premium dell xps 15 laptop, and when i close the lid (when being on) and then come back like maybe after half an hour or an hour and open the lid i have to press the on button for 2 sec to start it up, then it says windows did not shut down properly.

View 4 Replies View RelatedA few weeks ago, my computer started acting up. Whenever it goes to sleep, it shuts off completely for about a second, then goes into a sort of 'zombie' mode in which only the fans and lights are on. The computer won't wake up if you use the mouse or keyboard. The only way to wake it up is to hit the "restart" button, upon which it will show a standard booting screen (Asus, then windows). Upon logging in, everything is there, as if it simply went into hibernate. The same thing happens if I sleep manually, and even when I go into hibernate. I've tried toggling the power settings and scanning for viruses. I was even going to do a system restore, but it hadn't logged any days.

i shutdown my pc properly via the shutdown button in start menu... but when i check my reliability monitor it says windows was not shutdown properly. it doesnt happen everytime i shutdown but seems to happen randomly every now and then.

After that I got a quick black screen while trying to save a picture of coupons from ActivateRewards. My laptop completely froze and I had to manually shut it down, after I turned it back on an odd screen showed up saying Startup Repair. It said it would take several minutes so I left and came back only to see that it "Could not repair automatically." I then tried to see if I had any backups, like a fool I didn't back anything up. I can't start up Windows normally, or in safe mode due to it being routed straight to Startup Repair, and I can't use Startup Repair because it doesn't fix anything. I tried clicking "Dell Local Safe Data Restore" (Something like that) and it 'loads' something but doesn't work. I tried using the command prompt using this video.
Not sure if I can post links, so sorry if it's against the rules. As I was watching the video I realized it said 7 files copied, whereas mine said "Could not copy all files, Copied 5" . I tried using Startup Repair once more and now it loaded up Dell Datasafe Local Backup

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows 7 and it's all been dandy up until today. Windows has started giving me problems with my user accounts where there were no problems before. There are two accounts on my computer. I have the admin account as I own the computer, the other account is a standard account that my roommate uses. Today I turned the computer on, and on the screen where it would generally show the two icons for the two accounts, it only showed mine in large. Below there was a button saying "switch user", and I clicked on it. Then the screen showed two icons, one of which was mine. The other was blank and simply said 'other user' underneath, where it should have said "Krysta" and shown her chosen icon. I tried clicking on it, and it asked me for account name and password, which I gave, and it then took me to her account. Then I tried to switch back to my own, and the screen now only shows Krystas icon. When I click "switch user" underneath it, I get the same blank icon beside it, and have to enter my account name and passowrd again to get back to my account. So, windows will only display one account at a time, and I'm not sure why.
