I currently have a workgroup set up with a server (running Server 2008) and 4 identical (literally) computers. Each computer has certain shared files. There is no problem seeing or accessing the files on these computers.I am trying to add a fifth computer to the workgroup. I have added the new computer and can see the other 4 computers. However, every time I try to access any of the other 4 computers on the workgroup, I am asked for my network username and password. It doesn't matter what I put for the username and password - nothing works. It continues to say "Logon failure: unknown username or bad password".

Nothing solved it for me.
I have a dual LAN on my computer and two computers with Windows 7.
One Lan card is for internet and the other is for connecting via ethernet cable with the second computer. I can share internet and files with the two but I can't make the remote computer to join the Home group since it is connected to the unidentified network LAN card on my host computer.
How can I change the unidentified network to Home? sine it is actually home!
I configured static IP in order to share the internet and enabled the ICS.
I have a Windows 7 PC that's joined to a domain. The network location says "Domain network" and cannot be changed. According to Microsoft, you must set your location to "Home" in order to be able to join a computer to an already existing HomeGroup. My advanced sharing settings for both Home and Domain (domain being the current profile) show all the sharing and discovery settings enabled. HomeGroup Listener and HomeGroup Provider services are started. My Windows Firewall is enabled. I can connect to \computername of my HomeGroup computers. However, I cannot join the HomeGroup. It says "There is currently no homegroup on your network." [URL]I verified the group policy settings do not prohibit me from changing my network location from Domain to Home so that I may join a HomeGroup. However, I still cannot click on "Domain network" in order to change it to Home. How can I join this computer to the HomeGroup?

I have several computers and several users, where we wouldn't be able to survive without the "Everyone" group, as we are constantly sharing and unsharing. As in, having to choose to share with each user individually is not possible.
However, that creates a problem. What if I want to leave one computer out of the group, so that the folders are shared with everyone except for it?
why do all my icons have the letter e on them, when i click on them it takes me to a download window, still it wont let me open to run the program, many icons are missing, what can i do or where can i start to try fixing this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a dell laptop running windows 7. I dont own an iphone. I never will. Once, about 15 months ago, shortly after i bought it, someone connect their iphone to transfer a file. 5 mins later he was done. Its never been connected since, nor has any other iphone.Since then, ive had an "iphone" icon showing under my computer which is seemingly a complete ghost. I cannot delete it, cant find any record of any iphone files when i search for them, right click simply gives me an option to open which does nothing, or create a shortcut.
View 1 Replies View RelatedEarlier today I accidentally turned off my pc at the switch as it was loading a game by resting my foot on it. When I turned it back on it could load to desktop and load the icons, but I couldn't open anything. Infact, the only thing that did run was Hamachi, and that appeared to freeze (although I could exit it with no problems). The computer runs normally on safe mode, and my first instinct after discovering this was to reinstall the video card drivers (fixed a similar problem for me about 2-3 weeks ago where the desktop froze upon loading), but this has not worked, as you could probably gather.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have 2 Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I was using the first one mainly, and it is already customized as I wish including control panel icons, folder icons, desktop icons, boot logo and boot sound and etc. Is there any way that I can copy all those settings to the other machine? (So that I wouldn't have to go to regedit and do all those setting again and again, and also arrange the boot logo and sound again)?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've got a problem that came up recently and I think it might have something to do with one of the latest Windows 7 updates. Most of the time when I open up My Computer, it scans for a really long time and shows nothing(ie.no HDDs, Optical Drives or Network Locations) and in certain folders the icons and thumbnails are completely missing. I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy hubby is running Win 7 Ultimate 32 bit on an Emachines PC.
Intermittently picture thumbnails and program icons will suddenly stop showing up and will turn to only blank white icons. (Sometimes it affects a few files or the whole folder) You can see the thumbnails one minute, go out and back into the directory, and they are gone. Refreshing the folder view does not bring the thumbs back.
Going into other folders is fine and thumbnails show, but once it fails on a particular folder, it will continue to NOT show thumbs or icons for that folder until a restart is done. We have also tried to clean the thumbnails cache to no avail. This problem happens on all drives, flash drives, network drives, local drives, etc...)
There is one other bug that may be related. Sometimes his My Computer will not load. He can get to My Documents etc... but My Computer hangs forever until he restarts. It is an intermittent problem as well so hard to debug.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSome of the icons normally showing what a program type is are missing now. I HAVE all the DESKTOP icons and those in the system tray. But in Windows Explorer lists or in Word Perfect and Word lists of file names, many of the small icons that normally appear next to a program's name, or showing what type of document or file it is, are now missing. Not all, just some. I have mostly open square boxes. It doesn't matter whether I'm looking at a list of files I've created, or looking at the items in various system folders: most are just empty open squares instead of the individual icons. I have Windows 7 64-bit OS , both Mozilla 17 and IE9 browsers.
