Completely Changing Look Of Menus And Window Animations
May 5, 2012I'm talking about more than just making them transparent. I was hoping to find a way to change the start menus shape to whatever I design and have the window open/close/minimize/maximize animations be more like a Mac (the way it looks more like the window is being sucked away, rather than just disappear).

Aug 4, 2012My PC has just presented me with a completely black screen on Boot Up which has no error messages or text showing. The fans power up as do , I think , the DVD drive and there is a power light showing on the external drive . The usb printer also has power.Obviously there could be several causes for this , including failure of the monitor, video cards , ...etc.However , before I start digging into the case and , as I am having OS problems , I am assuming that this result of a completely black screen cannot be explained by an OS failure to boot !Is that a reasonable assumption ? If the problem was the failing to boot , I assume I would still get some DOSS-TYPE script appearing on the monitor .

This is way to much and i dont like the video card to work this hard if he doesn't have to.

When Opened Windows Mail / Left Hand Side Of Screen Was Completely Black / Didn't Show Any Of Messages
Oct 7, 2012When I turn on the screen of my PC I get weird shapes all over the screen. Some of them are coloured, some are grey but they appear on all programmes, including a Word blank page and the desktop page. Some of them flash, some of them change shape, ut they are all pixel shaped within the boxes. There are also some strange 'squiggly' marks on the screen. When I opened Windows mail, the left hand side of the screen was completely black and it didn't show any of my messages. As I'm typing this message, I've got grey boxes which change shape as I type and it's covering some of the text.

Nov 18, 2009I bought Windows 7 mainly for Media Centre, as my desktop PC has been my TV, DVD player, MP3 player etc for the last few years. I was running XP and upgraded last weekend to Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit.
I noticed first that the TV playback in WMC was skipping frames and very jerky, but then I realised that this was only in full screen. When I play it in a smaller window it is fine, then when I go fullscreen it is fine for around 20 secs, then a flicker happens and the problem starts again. If I change the channel, again it will be fine for some seconds, then same thing again.
I have noticed now tonight that when I playback movie files in Media centre there is the jerky frame skipping, but in Media player it is fine?????!!!! Also alot of times that I play either TV or Video files in WMC the screen is just full of lines and I have to close it down and reopen, sometimes several times in a row.
On top of this I've now realised that when I was watching online TV (Flashforward on Channel 5) the frame skipping is there too (Explorer 8).
Could this be to do with the onboard graphics? I thought 64MB was fine for windows 7.
Please help before I have some sort of fit from watching this jerky TV!!
How To Make Window Color Black
Nov 8, 2009Right click on desktop, personalize, then go to window color. The closes option there is to black is "slate" which is a grayish color. I can make it darker by adjusting the brightness to darker but it is still a gray color. How can I make it black?? I remember I was able to do so in Vista

Every time I start up the laptop the desktop is black, there is no icons, and there is no bar at the bottom of the screen, and also the Libraries Window show up at the start up.
This laptop also did not come with any CD so I don't have an option to reformat do I? I think it maybe a virus but I'm not sure and I don't know what to do about it, when I try to open Mozzila Firefox from that Libraries Window i get a msg saying:

45-60secs Black Screen After Window Logo Before Desktop Load?
Oct 4, 2012I have an MSI Laptop which I bought about a year ago was running fine and at the beginning of September started having the issue of a black screen, for about 45-60 seconds, between the windows logo and the desktop loading.
The laptop has:
Intel Core i7 460M Processor 2.53Ghz
Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-bit
4G DDR3 memory
Nvidia GeForce GT 540M
15.6" 1366x768 HD
Intel® HD Graphic VGA
[code].....
The above 3 files exist in the directories asked for so not sure why it can't load them.Although the laptop works fine when it's loaded, the additional time on this blackscreen is just winding me up as it didn't do it before.
Adding 'open In New Window' To Search Results, & Opening In New Window?
Feb 16, 2012Whenever I search in Windows 7, I want to have the ability to open found folders in a new window. If I r-click, that option is not there. Is there a way to add this to Windows 7?
Also: When I go to 'open file location', the file's folder opens in the same window - highly annoying. In Vista, it opens in a new window. Anyway to change this behvior in Windows 7 to act like Vista, so the file opens in a new window?
Mouse Opens A Window, However Cannot Click Inside The Window
Aug 22, 2012I am running into an issue where I can open a window/program with my mouse however once the window is open I cannot click inside of it. The window becomes inactive. I also have noticed I cannot right click on my desktop to bring up the properties. I can right click on the window in the task bar to close it but not in the window. Since this is happening I am limited to command prompt. I ran sfc /scannow with no errors. I tried with 3 different mice. I booted the computer into safe mode with command prompt and brought up the device manager to show devices not in use, and when the device manager window opened I could click inside it! since I could use the window I uninstalled all mouse drivers, and reinstalled my microsoft wireless usb mouse driver.. while in this safe mode I changed my mouse properties to system default as I read somewhere that can reset things. Next I booted the computer in safe mode (without command prompt) and still the same thing. I was trying to do a restore point as well however my Kaspersky antivirus 2012 is preventing that as i cannot find a way to kill the program through command prompt.

Dec 31, 2010i built my new pc a couple of weeks ago, with mostly new parts (kept my psu and hdd). my pc keeps on completely freezing (no audio, can't move the mouse), forcing me to force shutdown and turn it back on again. sometimes after turning it off it works fine, other times it freezes again at any point during startup (once during bios, sometimes during windows setup, and sometimes minutes after it is fully started). the problem is, this freezing happens randomly. so far it's occurred while the system was idle, while watching a Internet video, and while opening google chrome. what is weird is how it rarely happens during gaming. i played 6 hours straight of bad company 2 on max settings with no problems. i've also played about 10 hours of the witcher this week and have only had it freeze once. sometimes the pc will freeze multiple times in a day, and sometimes it will only freeze a few times a week.i've run memtest 86 and memtest86+ when i initally bought the computer, and it found no problems. i ran these tests again two days ago and it still found no problems. i also ran a couple of stress tests (using prime96) and the pc never crashed when it was under full load. when i use speedfan, my system is normally 29c, my cpu is 36c, my video card is 40c, and the "core" is 35c. the only thing it has a problem with is something called "aux" which changes from anywhere between 40c and 130c. i read on the internet that it shouldn't matter, but... that's what it is.i've also checked the error logs, and so far i can't really find anything that corresponds to the times that is freezing. i've also ran my computer with all the startup items turned off, but it also froze that way too.
i've messed with ram timings, and gskill says they should be set to 9-9-9-24-2n with a voltage of 1.5. i've done that in the mobo, with the exception of "2n" which i don't really understand.at the recommendation of someone else, i've started running my pc with only one stick of ram at a time. i just tried the first stick yesterday in the first slot, and it froze at the very end of the day (after i had already played the witcher and watched a movie on it).it was suggested to me that i run memtest with one stick in it at a time (which i haven't done yet). is that really necessary? i was under the impression that memtest simply found errors on all the sticks, if there were any.finally, as just a side note, i built my brother a pc very similar to mine (everything except the case and the hdd are the same) and he has had no problems with his yet, telling me that everything is physically compatible and that the memory timings must be right.

Feb 8, 2012I upgraded a Win7 Professional 64 bit system to Ultimate, then downloaded Language Packs in Chinese and Japanese. Now I am able to switch between Display Languages as expected. But after my last return from Japanese as Display Language to English, I find that Windows Explorer shows date information in Japanese, and IE uses Japanese as its language. Yet the Desktop icons have English legends, and the Start menu is in English. So there is a mixture of languages. Is there a way to eliminate Japanese completely? Should I uninstall the Language Packs?

Sometimes I can refresh the page and it will open. I keep the cookies along with defragging on a regular basis. After clearing cookies I can sometime reboot and the websites will load ok. Also sometimes the page may continue to load and sometime it will stop loading and only the website header will appear. Some days I can go all day and all website will load ok.

Apr 11, 2010from a Pentium D 2.8Ghz, upgraded that to C2D 2.9Ghz. and from a 8600GT xxx edition 256mb ddr3 I updgraded to a 9800gt 1gb ddr3now my PC shuts completely down without errors, warnings, blue screens nothing, just completely shutdowns like if there was a power outage.As per the manual the vid card requieres a psu of min 400W, I have a 680W PSU unit.Computer starts fine, but I noticed that if I try to use something that uses heavy graphics thats when the shutdown occurs., two examples:1. I tried refreshing the windows experience index, and it shuts down right in the middle during a direct 3d ALU test, everytime..2. tried loading BFBC2 and shuts down when trying to enter a multiplaye server.
this leads me to believe it might have something to do with either a faulty PSU unit, or faulty Vid Card (doubts on the latter).As for Drivers I uninstalled and reinstalled everthing twice now and even resintalled Direct X just in case.Although it seems I have the possible problem pinned down I would still like to read your comments and suggestions...maybe I missed something ?[CODE]
Any Way To Completely Disable Touchpad
Dec 12, 2011Just got a new HP Pavilion Notebook. I didn't like using the touchpad, so I plugged in a mouse.Then, I went to the Control Panel and TRIED to disable the touchpad. The mouse works great, but the touchpad keeps enabling itself again.It really gets ugly when I'm using the mouse and stop to type something in and the weight of my hands causes the screen zoom to adjust and jump.Is there any way to completely disable the touchpad until I really want to use it?
